It's kind of sad to hear that the voice inside Ryan's head is pressuring him to change because he's "too old" to be a social media star. The main reason why he still has so many loyal fans to this day is because he never changed. So many OG RU-vidrs who started alongside him have sold their souls to maintain longevity, but have turned into corporate shells of who they used to be. Ryan is the one of the only RU-vidrs who has remained the same person we subscribed to on day 1. Legends never die.

I’m now watching this in 2022 and I just realized that this should’ve been a foreshadowing of him no longer making videos for a while. Ryan says repeatedly that hes wasted so much time but I don't think I would call it wasted. I grew up watching his stuff and loving his content. There wasn't a lot of Asian representation in western media and I am grateful that his channel existed. His videos would take me away from whatever was happening in my life at the time, and I appreciated that, even if it was only for 5-10 minutes of my day. I'm 22 this year and honestly I think that's crazy too, I definitely don't feel old enough but I hope that if Ryan ever reads this he knows that he's influenced a lot of people's lives for the better. He may not have two kids but he undoubtedly made the lives of many better. I think hes definitely matured but its refreshing to see that his essence and sense of humor is the same because to be able to see the world with a childlike wonder is a rare and valuable thing. And it reminds those of us who were fans from 10 years ago of a time that was much simpler, it gives us warm feeling reminiscent of the good parts of childhood.

I’m coming to this a year later, you randomly popped up in my mind. I haven’t watched your videos in like 5 years but you were a staple of my childhood, I still reference your songs and old videos. The minute I played this video and heard your voice I felt at home. I’m not usually one for forming parasocial relationships but this video immediately made me realize how comfortable I feel coming back to your channel and how safe I felt in an instant. I went through a lot of struggles as a child and me and my brother went through a lot of abuse but your videos were something we always could come home and actually enjoy. We’d scramble to my grandpas laptop just to rewatch your videos over and over and laugh. It gave us a small break from the torment of our regular lives. I couldn’t be more grateful for what you gave us.

There's something weirdly comforting to me about seeing the different ways different RU-vidrs grow out of youtube fame. Ryans a great example of doing it gracefully, so is Julian Smith and a few other greats come to mind.

I remember I used to watch Ryan when I was 12, and now I'm 23. Haven't watched a video of his in a good 3-4 years, and just came upon this. What a legend. This guy is just as sweet, humble, and hilarious as he's always been.

You've brought attention to issues that don't get enough coverage, been a source of laughter and happiness during the world's dark times, and you've definitely educated millions of people on the dark sides of the media and other trends (the first thing that comes to mind is all the times you've fought for asian representation, like the Steve Harvey video, that really hit close to home heh) You're totally entitled to any choices you decide to follow through with regarding the channel, or anything outside your life on the internet, but I hope you know that you already *have* changed millions of lives, no matter what path life will take you on in the future

The fact that Ryan can come back on RU-vid today and his content basically remain the same yet be as potent , relevant and good as ever speaks volume to how much of a legend he is. I'm in a similar boat with Ryan although younger but i have accepted the fact that you never actually figure life out and it's always going to seem like a blur no matter what you do. Because if that's the case for people like Ryan who have , in my eyes, done so much in their life then it's obviously going to be like this for the everyday person just going through life.

With Ryan though, I've never really been upset by the breaks he takes from youtube because whenever he does upload it's always quality content and never once does he give us absolutely irrelevant excuses for these breaks either. I just turned 29 yesterday and I came back re-watching this video. I am feeling unhappy and having lots of anxieties about getting old, and not getting all the things done in life as I planned when I was young. But... I never really regretted any decisions I made in my 20s so far. I no longer care about how people think of me and I started focusing on myself a lot more. Even though I am still learning to be mature, pursuing my dreams & taking things one step at a time, that's completely okay, and everyone has their own rhythms in life. I will continue to follow my heart to do whatever I want, no regrets.

"never done something meaningful in life"? pfft. you literally were my entire childhood. i didnt watch gaming channels, i didnt watch smosh or stuff like that. i only watched you and your friends. i know it was kinda silly but i didnt have internet back then. i would go to a neighbors house to only watch and rewatch your videos for hours. thats all i did. you stayed consistent for years and years and we got what we subscribed for. your subscribers are loyal. youtubers have their subs coming and going and views going down due to irrelevancy. even if you post rarely, we always come back for you. most, if not all youtubers have changed their content because of youtube changing but you're the one who has been the same from day 1. i have watched you since 2008 and i still watch you, every single day. of all the people, you're the most influential person in my life. thank you for that. never let yourself down. you're a legend. and legends never die. teehee, man. you'll always be a part of me.

He also taught me what ADHD was and made me feel better when I was getting bullied. Nigahiga was the YT channel that I enjoyed and waited for new video every week since 2011. Then I saw his picture with his gf in facebook. It a coincidence as the person that I followed on Facebook was Malaysian woman who doing business at USA then she shared her family picture having a vacation at Niagara Falls and I saw Ryan Higa in that picture enjoying his time with the family. He looks happy and as a long time fan, it's nice to see him living his life to the fullest.
