Me too. And I am from Philippines. I think I really am from a different plane/dimension. Honestly I really am shocked learning these are native from Philipiines. Another animal I just found out are stoats. Jesus im not kidding.
Thank you so much for watching everyone! I hope you enjoyed this little update on Sonny, Sappy and their family! I'm thrilled to see that their family is not only thriving but GROWING! Don't forget to answer today's question of the day! :) Thank you so much to all my Reptiliatus Channel Patrons over on Patreon: www.patreon.com/Reptiliatus for making videos like this possible! Your support has helped fund things like new filters, tanks, and more for the crocodile skinks :)!
My question of the day answet is we was feedng my gecko a locust and she wasn’t awake yet and because we don’t have a see through table where they get there air from the top we have vents at the back but the locust could still get through so we cheered when nikka ate it
I had a really intense nodding battle against my bearded dragon. He was really pissed off that day especially when he walked away after our battle and slipped down a small platform, because I laughed at him really loud :D poor guy My wifes most unique moment with him was at the vet, he ran straight to her and tried to hide in her sleeve because he didnt like the doctor.
@Reptiliatus for the question of the day, my Pac-Man frogs digital hygrometer and thermometer’s probe suction cup fell of the glass of the exo terra, i had to put it back on the glass, and he bit me and latched on, it was pretty painful, i was able to sneak a night crawler in his mouth at the time because it was feeding day, and then he let go of my finger knowing that it wasn’t food, a day later he was perfectly fine, which was a relief!
What's interesting is the similarity of the vocalization to baby crocodiles! I don't know if any crocodile species are sympatric to the croc skink? I might guess in PNG they might be? Could be a Batesian mimicry survival trait? A potential predator associating that sound perhaps to young near a large nesting croc? Avoiding them perhaps in some instances?
That sassy one is so stinking cute! I'm so glad you've started this project and share Sonny and Sappy with us. With every video I love these tiny dragons so much more. I really hope that these guys start being captive bred more. Thank you for letting us love them with you.
My Chinese Water Dragon Rex used to always sit on my shoulder on the sofa watching TV. There was always something wonderful about coming home from a long day at work, opening his viv and him jumping out onto my should and settling there to watch TV. It was like he was saying he'd missed me lol. Sadly he passed in 2018 but my new one Hunter is following in his footstep except using my head!
Dude I love your passion of these reptiles. I can tell they are so well taken care of by you. No half way decent enclosures only the best Care and dedication to work with them
I’m very shocked I always heard red eye crocodile skinks are never great handlers and stay dead still if you pick them up but it seems like even your adults don’t have much of a problem and move plenty it shows how good of a owner you are and your socialization skills I’m very impressed
My most unique experience was with my kingsnake I was sitting on my chair as he was out and gt climbed up the chair sat on my lap and went to sleep it showed me that they know their owners
@@SexyyetSweet94 the best way that works for me is to handle it for at least 5 minutes every day get into a routine and you will be happily surprised how quick they change
Sorry to hear about your rough day! This week has been similar for me but knowing I get to bring some joy to you all brings me joy :). Hope you feel better!
@@Reptiliatus dunk the whole hose in the water and make sure it fills with water. Then put your thumb over the end of it. Keep it there and pull that end out of the tank to your drain bucket. Making sure the other end is submerged, release your thumb over the end over the bucket. Voila, gravity saves your mouth.
I was gifted a teeny, tiny Bearded Dragon. I named her Monster. She was so small when I got her that she weighed nothing ... not even detectable in my hand. Monster grew to be a little more than 15 inches. My best memories of her was taking her to my little plot in a community, organic garden. After everyone had cooed over and petted her, I would let he loose in the plot. She would run around from plant to plant, taking a big bite out of each, until she found one she really liked. She usually decided on Mustard Greens. She would lay there in the shade of the plant and lazily snack on it from time to time. She always enjoyed an outing to the garden so she could watch the world go by. I miss her every day!
For the question of the day, I have Herman, one of my c.mitratus, who loves me to give him a drink from a dropper or water off my fingers, he uses his water bowl too but one day a while ago when i was watering plants he decided he liked licking water off my hand and seeks it out now ,so it's a cool thing, surprised me as I don't ever handle him ...glad to see the little dragons doing so well 😊
QOTD answer: The first time my leopard gecko Chip chose to crawl up onto my hand was my most unique experience, as he was my first reptile, and I hadn't had him long either. It was so lovely to know he found me safe!
It seems like You have such a kind and soft spoken personality. I really enjoy your content! Thanks for sharing I can’t wait to see more of these little ones!
Thank you that’s so kind of you to say! I’m so happy you enjoy my content! Please feel free to subscribe to my channel if you like as I post videos every Tuesday and Friday! Take care
For my pet reptile interaction. I've had a Bearded Dragon, named Archimedes, for about 15 years now. When I moved into my new home and got everything set up, I decided I'd let him have a chance to move around. So first I gave him a bath to make sure he didn't track any dirt around, and hopefully would poop in the bath rather than my floor, and then after I dried him off I opened up the bathroom door so he could go out a explore. However he took a few steps out of the bathroom, looked left then right and ran right back to me amd hopped into my lap. It was such an amazing moment to see that he viewed me as a safe place when he was nervous about his new surroundings.
So the pumps often just need to have the impeller magnet pulled out and cleaned, and then the area where it's seated. Usually some grit or soil gets in there and interrupts the magnetic connection, so just washing it out and cleaning the impeller, rod, and magnet will fix it completely. You could add some filter sponge to stop some of that buildup.
Thank you so much for explaining this so thoroughly that’s too kind! I think I properly burned out the last one by accident 😅. Normally I do what you said and it fixes the problem.
Awesome man! I’ve always loved this reptile and I kno they’re more of a rare one. Have never seen anyone successfully breed them n have the luxury of watching hatchlings grow along side their parents! Very lucky
When I had fishtanks I also had African dwarf clawed frogs. The little ones that do not grow larger. They are so cute . Easy to take care of, shallow slow moving water with lots of floating plant. frozen and live foods are good for them along with small pelets that sink.I had a half dozen of them in a 10 G tank. One night in spring Late April I think) I heard some high pitched chirping coming from their tank. The three males were singing for mates. By the end of the week they had paired up and were laying and fertilizing stings of eggs on the plants and driftwood. SAdly none of the eggs got fertilized (not sure why) and I had to remove them before they fouled the water. I was told if the eggs were fertile they would have developed rapidly into wrigling tadpole inside the egg gel. Mine never grew and never moved after a week and then the gel started to dissolve, so I netter them up and put them in the trash. They never mated again but the male would sing each Cpring or during thunderstorms and low pressure system passed over head.
Wow their amazing . They really do look like little dragons 🐉 awesome job with the filter 👏🏻 I make bridges and hides out of paracord crocheting . Seeing my pet crested geckos , gargoyle and Chahoua gecko use them & feeding them is the best interaction 😊
they are soooooo cute! i just wish i could go like POOF and a lot of them just rain down but i dont them to die- im just glad you took care of them really well.
I love these cute skinks, the babies are extra cute too. I like watching them eat and seeing the eggs hatch.😍❤️👏🏼👍🏻 Sonny and Sappy are such good parents.
(Question of the day) I was holding my veiled chameleon, when her tongue shot out and hit my forehead, it turned out a dragonfly landed on my face, and now they are now her favorite food.
I am so glad to see them all doing well! I love seeing updates on these amazing creatures! I truly think that getting one is going to be the next on my list.
Omg at first I thought the little dude was dead inside the filter omg lol so crazy that they get up in there to funny so freaking adorable though omg can't get I've how adorable they are ....there little scream they do lol that's just adorable omg
Never in a million years would I have believed that I would be watching channels with Tarantulas and mini-dinos. Last year I decided to challenge my fear of spiders and by watching you, Tarantula Kat and a few others, I am now ready to get a couple of T's and I desperately want a Bearded Dragon. The red-eye croc skink is so dang cute, the tiny noises they make, oh my, I love them. Thank you so much for sharing them us. ❤🦎
That’s fantastic! I’m so happy you’ve reached this point and I’m honoured to have had anything to do with it! Excited for you and what is to come next!
You can put up some needle point mesh with some window screen on inside/outside in a sort of a fence around the filter. Can also somehow get filter floss (like pillow stuffing material) either in the filter or fence to help with clearing out the gunk and not having to buy a new filter all the time.
Thank you kindly for your insight. I feel a bit silly but I just figured out how to pull the fixed compartment out of this filter (it seemed fused at first). So I’ll be sticking the filter floss in to protect the motor!
Mine is with my baby kingsnake - right after feeding her I was just putting in a clean water and even though she was clearly looking for another mouse, she then proceeded to climb on my hand like "hey I feel like exploring" - for such food motivated species of a snake she seems to realize the difference between fingers and actual food
you could try a course sponge block 2x2x6 or so to place in front of the filter intake as a pre-filter so the silt/mud stays out of the filter. Then you can turn the filter off take the pre-filter out rinse and repeat.
I'm new to reptiles (more of an avian guy) but our corn snake will not eat unless he is holding one of us. We will still attempt to feed him in his enclosure but he prefers that he is held.
Lil tip to help u make the motors not burn out. Get some of that black filter pads n cut it to size to wrap around where the water gets sucked into. Thatll block alot of junk on going in n burning the motor out.
So sweet! When I was younger I owned two but regrettably had to rehome them due to a complicated move! I miss them! They actually had such calm dispositions! Fortunately a friend owns one of them so I still get to hear about how she is doing and it’s so nice to see how loved she is! 🐍
Most unique experience for me.... buying a 40 gallon terrarium and ignorantly getting a male Leo to live with my female leo because I thought all animals can use a mate/friend. Then over time, my female laid a few clutches of eggs, and 1 egg out of the 7 was fertilized. I've incubated it, hatched it, and raised a baby leo that will be 9 months old on the 29th of May 2021.
Awesome video I love skinks is this species pretty easy to care for because I have tons of reptiles and want to add some of these but i don’t want to get them if they involve to much work because I was to focus on reptiles I have now
Still super stoked for the breeding project! Can't wait to see how you grow with it. Hope to have my hands on 1 or 2 someday! (not in the sense of handling too much of course)
Hi! I JUST discovered you! And I have never seen this species before! How INCREDIBLY AMAZING! I have always loved animals and have a fairly deep & wide knowledge base from a long lifetime of study, but these little guys absolutely inspired me. I’m excited to check out your channel- (I subscribed 😁). You yourself have a sweet & lovely disposition & manner, & are soothing to listen to. 😇 And MAN, have I got a reptile story for ya! In the 7th grade I use to take care of a 9th grade science class’ live animals (basically reptiles and rats). Had a student’s 14 ft python strike my hand & manage to get my entire hand in her mouth the first shot- TRUE STORY- & I stood there in shock & fascination WATCHING HER swallow my arm nearly to the ELBOW before my brain kicked back in & I called the teacher to the back room. Boy, did I become an instant rockstar around school! (1st & last time, too 🙄). And, Happy Ending for the snake, too. The teacher of course wanted to kill it immediately and I absolutely refused that! I taught him how to gently kind-of lift-forward-raise ease-lift-back (into my arm again), until we managed to slowly zig-zag her off of me. NOT an easy or a quick task, & excruciatingly painful - she left a lot of big teeth & holes in my arm- but I was SO happy that it worked out & he didn’t hurt her. ALL student snakes were no longer allowed at school, but the one that ATE me did fully recover in no time, as you’d almost expect. So. That’s MY reptile story!! 😎 Loved your video, the species, your knowledge and the obvious, amazing care you provide for the life & enrichment of these beautiful animals! Well done!!👍
