Thanks for sharing your palette methods! I also carefully use every drop of my remaining PO49. I'm not able to use M Graham in my travel palettes (except for their Cerulean Blue which is stable in my climate and okay for urban sketching) and also find MG very staining, but I love the idea of a limited palette for on the go painting. I had one awhile ago with a Yellow Ochre, Indian Red and Prussian Blue that I used for painting some local train cars, and it gave the dusty look I was trying for. I think if I make one I'll probably use DS Quin Rose, DS Indanthrone Blue, DS Burnt Sienna and Sennelier Yellow Light (which I'm trying out as a new transparent yellow). I appreciate the ideas :)

Thanks for the comment. Yes, I hear M. Graham are problematic in warm and humid climates. In Montreal, summer is hot and humid but summer is only about three months long! I used to have Quin Rose too in this palette but changed it to Quin Red because I realized I always defaulted to Quin Rose in limited paletted for mixing and wanted something more muted and I wanted to learn how to use other colours. But I agree, Quin Rose is likely a better choice for colour mixing. Yellow Ochre, Indian Red and Prussian Blue would make for great urban or muted landscapes! I’d have to try it, though I might use a Transparent Brown Oxide or Red Oxide if I used an Ochre, or replace the Ochre by a Raw Sienna if I kept the Indian Red. I like only having only one semi-opaque colour in a very limited (3 colour) palette.
