I feel for the girl sometimes most (not all) mother are rooting for their 1st born son not to their daughter. As a middle child I also shared experiences that my mom was favorable to my elder brother. And there are times we quarreled for some petty household responsiblity suddenly she freak out and didn't hesitate to cast me out in our home....I didn't say anything to her after she said that and I silently not coming home for a year. Then I heard a news that she wants me to come back home because she's ill and I found out that the cause of her illnes is my brother who brought a girl in our home without showing respect to my mom. In the end the daughter (I) will have to endure the hardship :( sad but its true for some families :(

This is so sad as I went through this in my life until I had a friend who told me to separate myself and be strong. It is funny because even when she get sick they will not come for her because they believe that they are right. This is also experienced in Africans home.

This is VERY COMMON in old Chinese families bcoz the son carries the family surname, not juz in China. Even in South East Asia, the same happened in the paz. My grandparents and parents always favoured me over my sister and l even had to fight for her rights. Today, due to education and modern thinking, things have changed for the better.

I don't know why but I can't stop crying when she said I lied to you because I don't want to show my internal weakness I am like that to I lied to everyone alot soo that they only see strong side of me only my pillow knows the real me. I think this is because her family doesn't have a sense of crisis. It's because when something happens they know they can turn to her and she'll solve everything. Think of how when slaves were release. Some slaves returned to their owner, because though their life was hard they don't have to think for themselves, its their owners who do that and they just follow orders. This is why reeducating slaves became necessary. Teaching them how to earn money, save money and spend it the right way. So even though her family are indeed greedy, sucking monsters. She too has a fault as she indulged them. Giving way to whatever they asked of her. Her friend, Xiao Qu (I think that's her name) has a point. She has to be heartless and firm. Just like how good parents will not fuss every single time their child fall, to teach the child to stand back up and walk again. She should've been firm and decisive. True she tried to turn them down. But she's going back and forth. She says "no" but then proceeds to give them everything. What her mouth said should be what her body do. You can't just cry "Woe is me. The world is against me." but rather "I am me. And I deserve the same rights and respect and I will take what I am due." There's no point living in the past. The past is for reference, the future is the goal, the present is where we live. And on that note. I'm starting to feel like I should write a book lol XD

Unfortunately this is reality in a lot of Asian households - they think the son is the golden child while the daughter is worth nothing. There are a lot of good (elder) sons out there but I feel as a daughter, we always have that filial piety towards our parent no matter how bias they're treating us. Our heart just can't abandon them despite the suffering from the favoritism. In Asia, most of first born son or elder son will have this "privilege", though not all of them. I have similar issue as her. As the only daughter and the last kid in the family, I'm the only one who give money to my mom and dad. Whatever allowance or support money i gave to my mom monthly, will somehow go to my married eldest bro whenever he needs it. My second bro, only support his own family. But thank God I have a kind step mom who takes care of my dad and half sis and good to know that my dad didn't give the money i gave him to any of my bro. Similar situation happen to my colleague. She's like the sole breadwinner in her family and his older brother only use his own money for himself and use the mom's money given by my colleague (the daughter) for the household, food, groceries and everything else.
