Thank you for this video! It was really helpful insight into the experiences of a person who is blind-something I which I have had no exposure. It is lovely to see the positive and fun relationship that you and your Mum share as you face the challenges of the changes your Mum is experiencing with age as a family. Figuring out how to teach Geometry concepts to one of my blind students was one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced as an educator - and so rewarding 😊

This reminded me so much of my grandmother. She was born in 1909, and at age 16, she was hit in the eye with a baseball bat. With small town medicine at that time, they weren't able to save the eye. She would be watching us kids and we would think she was sleeping, but she was looking at us with one eye. It wasn't until I was a teenager that I found out she had a glass eye. When she was in her late 80s, a botched cataract surgery left her completely blind. She still had great hearing, though, and recognized people's footsteps, the sound of their keys, and other little things.
Bless her heart. I bet she had some amazing stories. Blindness isn’t a life sentence, it’s just another tough thing to overcome and make due with. Sounds like your grandmother did it like a champ. It’s nice when others can relate. Thank you for sharing and I’m glad you found me. 💗❤️💗
Thanks so much to you and your mom. This was so interesting. I have never known anyone who was blind or had a bad problem with their eyes. Two years ago my husband was diagnosed with macular degeneration and is learning to live with blindness in one eye and blurriness in the other. Thanks for sharing your story.

I just found your channel, I watch craftably ever after and she had recommended you. I’m so glad that she did because your awesome! Your mom is awesome! I love everything about this channel so far! This video hits close to home, my mom taught me how to crochet when I was very young and I taught her how to make Amigurumi many years later 😂 my vision is slowly deteriorating from a rare disease I have. So I’ve been trying (and failing) to teach myself to crochet with my eyes closed 🤦🏻♀️😂 so hopefully I can at least make scarves and maybe blankets when I’m not longer visually gifted. Lol She’s not inspirational, she’s uplifting!
Oh my friend, I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Being born blind is hard but having vision and then losing it is a very different situation. I’m so proud of you for not giving up. I promise you can do this. We have many blind friends that do crochet, it’s possible. But give yourself grace, muscle memory will kick in and your body/brain will guide you in time.
