I was a baby when Elvis died, but I grew up watching his films and listening to his music and had a total crush on him for many years. Even visited Graceland once when I was 18 years old. Your mom has good taste.

It’s just like my mother and I after seeing Elvis for the first time. I found out that my mom had never been to Graceland; the very next year was the 30th anniversary of his death and we made our pligrimage. Elvis is in the air. It’s incredible.

I mentioned the shock we had, me & my cousins, as we were walking past a house and the radio was saying that the king is dead, we were just so shocked!

My Mom was a pre teen when she met Elvis. She was sooo excited to meet him and wanted nothing more than to get a kiss from him (like all the other girls) and when it came time for her turn, he gave her a kiss alright, but not on the lips, on her forehead (she was like 9yrs old)... she was soooo upset LOL After all these years, she was still mad about that lol

And THAT, ladies, is why he was called "Elvis The Pelvis"!!!! This was great fun, girls, thanks, I was smiling from ear to ear and I wanted to jive ( a great dance, BTW). I'm an old coot in my seventies and I was about 7 when Elvis burst on to the scene. As both Jay and her mum are much younger than I, what they cannot really appreciate is the absolute explosion that almost everyone in the world felt when "Hearbreak Hotel " was released and he appeared performing in cinema newsreels world-wide. NOBODY had ever moved, sang or looked like him, and popular music had become very bland. Elvis was influenced by many genres.HIllbilly, Country, R&B, light Italian opera, and he put his own unique stamp on all that he sang: as I wrote earlier, I doubt if anyone who wasn't around in the 50s, can appreciate his impact, but, as evidenced by your reactions in this clip, you sure can enjoy him as much as we did. :-)

There's a movie coming out this summer about Elvis. You AND your mom should check out the trailer. It's freaky how much the actor looks like Elvis.. Yeah, there will be never be anyone like Elvis, but dang, it's the next best thing. We'll have our Elvis back for almost 3 hours.
