In 1956, my grandparents bought their daughter a brand new, white over black, 1956 Ford Victoria. With her boyfriend at the time (soon to become my dad), they all went to the Montecarlo Hotel in upstate, NY, for a weekend. Mom was still getting used to the car (her first). These are a few candid moments from a bygone era. Enjoy! #ford #montecarlo #catskills #newyork

Thank you, BarryCuda. She was the best mom in the world. Those were indeed the days. I'll be doing a few vintage uploads now that I've digitized my parents 8mm films. Thanks very much for watching.

@@LongIslandMopars My mother was also the best in the world ,and my father as well , unfortunately not everyone can say that. That ,56 would have been pretty expensive new .I look forward to more films. 👍

That would have been a cool car to buy new.

I never knew that in 56, those Fords had bumper cutouts for the exhaust (I assume only on the V8 cars). If I remember from what my dad told me, the car had a 292 in it. Interestingly, the story goes that the Ford salesman was "sweet" on my mom and wanted to put her in a 56 T-Bird (she even test drove one). However, because her parents were buying the car, she had to get the crew cab version so she could take them places. 😎

Back when women were classy. I would give anything to have both of my parents back---they are both gone. But I own their home (where I grew up), their cars, and I even own part of my grandparent's property as well.

My parents are gone, too. I sold my childhood home 13 years ago. I posted a video of driving my dad's Coronet out of their driveway for the last time back in 2011.

@@LongIslandMopars Fortunately, I own the house I grew up in and part of my grandparents' property. I also own my parents car (1980 Trans Am) and other cars from relatives too.

@@LongIslandMopars I just reconnected with the original owner of my 1979 Trans Am after 20 years. I found him back in 2000 or so when I first got the car (in 1999) and then lost touch. I found his (now ex) wife on FB and she put me in touch with him. He claims that, "I may still have parts for that car, including the original radio and catalytic converter, I have to look". I already replaced the radio, but I'd love a spare. I've had it the longest of anyone by a landslide at 25 years now.

@@googleusergp Cool. Always nice to have original bits. I'm pretty certain that the original owner's widow of my 74 Charger has passed on. I've owned it 26 years last month. It'd be interesting if her daughter and son-in-law ever found me one day so the daughter could see her dad's car again. I bought it with 27k miles and presently it has 49k.
