Thanks for watching! It was fun being the villain for an episode (I'm mainly joking around, the movies are fine). We just finished Part 8 a few days ago and I'm going to try and get the next video out ASAP. Stay tuned for more!
@@brandonchutt312 She's already seen them! I actually just rewatched the original last week and it is actually one of my favorite adventure movies of all time.
Bobo Boy I think most people including myself disagree with you. Sure, some of the movies aren’t great, like Iron Man 2 for example, but most of them are above average in terms of the superhero genre.
Yes this was so annoying to me. Literally Harry Potter took so much inspiration from LotR, and she barely paid attention in those movies but claims to be a super fan of Harry Potter
im so confused. Does your family WANT to like these movies? lol. its fun when you watch a movie for the first time with someone who is excited and happy about the movie...I mean your mom seams to really want to enjoy and become a potter head... be enthusiastic about it, make her feel good about feeling good.
Fr he just keeps adding negative comments or making fun of stuff in the movies while his mom tries to enjoy it. Really takes the fun out of watching reactions smh 🤦♂️
Seeing Amos Diggory crying over his dead son will always get me...even my dad who has never seen another HP movie in full watched that part with me once and he said that it even made him choke up. The pure pain and anguish in his yell...oh man
That scene is good until he yells “nooooo!” I always laugh at that part because it’s so melodramatic. But when he’s screaming “my boy! My son!” I feel it
Amos is the only reason I cried over Cedric’s death. We didn’t know him well enough for me to get attached to the character. His daddy crying and screaming broke me!! 🥺
@@emmaebaldwin That's supposed to be the tragedy of it though. We didn't know him well, and never will. He was just a good kid that was shot down simply because he was "in the way". But, of course, the books do splay out all the details better. lol
@@zelpazz No, he absolutely replaces the whole piece, then the enemy queen hits him in the head with her stone sword. This is easily verified with a google/ bing search
@@ThiefKingofLegend Ron was *severely* injured, and very well could have died. However, just like in the movie, Hermione takes Ron to the Hospital Wing, where they have magic healing... or healing magic... or whatever...
He seems to ignore details in the movies that undermine his own arguments, I mean there are plenty of problems with the story that can be criticized, but he misses a lot of those. It's also always safe to assume with adaptations that a lot of details are changed or removed entirely, and there are a lot of details missing in the Harry Potter films. And they are for kids, but kids were growing up as the movies released, so the movies got more mature along with the fans(something I wish Pokemon would do, like not entirely but just one Pokemon game with a more mature story and deeper gameplay mechanics would be nice).
Was just coming to say, fatal flaw in the ‘Voldy always loses to a child’ argument as to why he’s not actually a badass.. is that the whole message of the story is that Harry (the character we try most to connect with) is never alone when facing hardships.
I appreciate and love the lotr more than Harry potter, but your critism that the big bad being defeated by someone who was weaker than them is rubbish. Wasn't Sauron defeated by two hobbits?
Plus, it's all apart of the prophecy. Harry is voldemort's equal, Harry is a horcrux and in the first movie protected by his mothers protection charm. #nerdknowledge
You know as much as I love those movies, I've never found Sauron particularly compelling. But me talking about Voldermort is more for entertainment than legit criticism. He obviously has to be an established threat from the beginning and so there's no practical way around Harry Potter not defeating him before their final confrontation. It is however, pretty funny if you step back and realize how absurd it all sounds. I'd love to actually talk about these movies more in-depth but for the sake of these videos, they're meant to be short and sweet.
@@KevinBaird and plus it was only a weak version of voldemort they were fighting in the two first books. It's only in the forth one that shit gets real
The movies are awesome the books are way better information wise. In the first movie Voldi cant touch Harry because of the old strong magic called love give to him by his mother when she died for him.
I actually like the freeze-frame ending of _Prisoner of Azkaban_ from a stylistic and metaphorical point of view. Think about it, the only time we've seen the effect of the face being pulled away was when the dementors would attack. Back then, it represented pain and misery, while at the end it represented joy and excitement.
@@kyebyrno8004 by far the best cinematography of all the movies in my opinion. And I LOVE the long one take shot when Arthur Weasley takes Harry into the hallway to discuss Sirius’s escape, but the overall colour pallet, tones and perspectives in the whole film are just so good.
@@mkaylagomez1959 the movie almost did it better than the book, especially in some parts like harry repelling the dementors and the whole time turner scene, only movie that came close to the book
Honestly, the whole "I'm too cool and non-conforming to like harry potter" comments kind of took the fun out of it for me. The LOTR videos were fun to watch because you clearly loved those movies and wanted to share them with your family. This just comes across as if someone is forcing you to do it.
Absolutely. I haven't seen the LOTR one, but he is so unlikable here. You can see he doesn't actually like the series and is just doing it to get the clicks. (Why else would he watch something he doesn't like?". And what pissed me off the most is that he talks about how he doesn't like a movie BEFORE they watch the movie. If someone did that watching a movie with me I'd just fuckin leave.
@ARN he did it bc all of his fans from the LOTR vid were asking him to do it. As his sister I can tell you he DID NOT want to do it lol I also really wanted to watch them again since it’s been years since I’ve seen them and it was perfect bc my mom hasn’t seen them before. Go check the LOTR vid out- we are exact opposites in it.
Bro you actually kinda ruined these reactions with your negative comments. Everyone else in your family seemed to like the movies and it sounds like you’re trying to get them all to hate them. Way too much of a cynic and an incredibly hypocritical one at that. They’re movies dude just enjoy them for what they are not what you think they should be.
Especially when someone is watching them for the very first time It's okay to be snarky if everyone has already had the chance to Form their own opinions, but not cool to try and change someone's first experience into sth more negative.
the whole "I'm too cool and non-conforming to like harry potter" kind of took the fun out of it from ur sister and ur parents and you, you look the the one having the least fun at it ... so why even doing it ? :/
I enjoy watching the parents react, but i don't enjoy hearing you sh*t on Harry Potter as much hahaha. I was legitimately scared of Voldemort as a child. I laughed the first time I saw Palpatine.
Voldemort has motivation beyond just being evil. He wants wizard "purity" and supremacy. He wants to persecute those who aren't "pure blood" and terrorize muggles. He's like a white supremacist nazi type. That's clearly enough motivation for real world villains.
I think his quote to Snape "only I, can live, forever" sums up his main motivation; he only really cared about himself. Also, he wasn't even a pure-blood.
It’s heavily implied Voldemort doesn’t actually care about the Death Eater’s cause. He just uses them to empower himself more. I mean sure he is ashamed of his muggle side, but that’s more to do with his own ego than with any ideology. Grindelwald was much more of an ideological dark wizard than Voldemort.
@@incognitonotsure909 i think he tried to hard to make his family not like it. If he doesn't like it its totally ok but he wanted his family to dislike it when they clearly liked it.
Everything else felt like a children’s movie...hmm I wonder why? And yes he does have a motivation. But I feel like any explanation for your complaint you choose to ignore... but I can’t make anyone enjoy something they just don’t like but I will say I feel like your biggest gripe with this movie is that it isn’t Lord of The Rings or Star Wars and people like it? Or is it too mainstream?
People are allowed to like and dislike stuff man. Besides I don't think the guy ever outright said "I don't like these movies," and if he does dislike them it's most likely because his sister enjoys them, that's how siblings work, it's illegal for them to have common interests.
The "How does he keep losing to a bunch of kids" argument really isn't valid if you have seen all of these and know the reasons. Quirrell couldn't touch Harry because of the love protection. Tom Riddle as a teen never really returned, he was still just a "memory" when Harry stopped him, and Voldemort didn't want the death eaters to kill Harry cause he wanted to do it himself, and he couldn't because of their wands being twins. I can obviously keep going for 5-8 but..
None of his "arguments" hold up. It seems apparent that he lied about having seen these before (don't ask me to what end), and he obviously didn't even pay attention to them _this_ time.He may need to go back to "film" school.
I agree. I think he comes up with all the classic “Harry Potter is overhyped and I’m too cool for it” arguments which are pretty poor. Just because he doesn’t understand it doesn’t mean its a plot hole.
That's what one the great things about Harry Potter. It matured as the characters matured. The first one was for kids because Harry was a kid, and the last was for teens because Harry was a teen. and also מה קורה חחחח
Put on a movie based on mythology, and literature, with deep rooted pagan and Christian themes and she’ll text and sleep through it. Put on a movie for 9 year olds and she’s totally engaged. Really shows the emotional intelligence and maturity.
@proud saiyan prince Not nice. MAYBE I have such a demanding complex job during the day (spoiler alert: I DO) that when I come home I just like to watch fun movies where I don’t have to actually think lol and Harry Potter is a super fun cute movie 😊
@@proudsaiyanprince2651 If you don’t think Harry Potter draws from mythology of all different sorts (pagan, Christian, etc.) then I genuinely have no idea what series you think they’re watching. The lore of the Harry Potter world is very thoroughly researched and many, many elements have a basis in classical mythology. Also, how ridiculous is it to say “based on literature” when the Harry Potter movies very clearly are based on literature, and some of the best-selling literature of all time? Haha, just a crazy comment all around. And yes, Harry Potter draws from other literature, how could it not? Just a very broad thing. The Harry Potter movies can genuinely be enjoyed by all ages (especially when someone has seen them in the past and has a nostalgic attachment to them, and because the story matured with its initial audience as time went on. The later movies have very dark tones and themes). Why are you a pretentious dick?
I'm guessing you've never read the books given your views on Voldemort. Voldemort's motivations are all in there and quite frankly, it's very terrifying. In the books, his father was a muggle who was essentially kidnapped by Voldemort's mother when she got him to drink love potion. So when Voldemort was conceived he immediately lost the ability to love because he was not made 'willingly'. As such, he has no understanding of basic human emotions. When he realised this, he made it his ultimate goal to wipe out all non-magic people and to create a 'new world order'. He wiped out his father's side of the family and murdered thousands of people in order to achieve this. Also, at the age of 15 he decided he was going live forever and knew that he had to kill to do it. I dunno, his motives scare the crap out of me 😂 But, I can also understand where you're coming from, because this isn't discussed in the films.
I don't like the whole "voldy was born without consent so he's evil" thing, there are children out there who were conceived through scenarios without consent who are beautiful children. I think yes being a nazi is bad, and doing sexual assault is bad, but being born from sexual assault doesn't make you a Nazi.
@@MrSmithers he isn't evil because he was conceived without consent, but because he was conceived whilst his father was under the influence of love potion. It's a part of Harry Potter lore. It's explained in the Half Blood Prince in greater detail
@@jessicarichards1854 being conceived while one of the parties is under the influence of a drug (which lets say for arguments sake love potion acts as) is conception without consent.
Now I know why his sister was so over the top disinterested by The Lord of the Rings. Imagine having some zealot at home that tries to undermine what you like because his interests are so much better in his own mind.
Continuously undermining the plot of the movies, and then comparing Voldemort to being a 'poor man's Emperor Palpatine' was just hilarious. I mean, Palpatine? One of the most comicly ridiculous, overacted villains in science fiction. It's fine if you don't like the films, but at least let your family formulate their own opinions😂
I would also say, that Voldemort is far more than just evil. We know his motives pretty clearly - even in the movies they are pretty well established - he dislikes muggles, wizards coming from muggle families and "halfbreeds", which is also quite sad considering he is one of them. There's more to him than being a fantasy Palpatine.
I’m really glad you’re continuing this series of showing your family popular movies. I can’t wait to see what they think of the rest of the franchise. But can I just say one thing? I love this movie series, I love the LOTR trilogy and I love Star Wars. But they aren’t comparable. I like them for different reasons. I don’t try to compare these movies to anything else because what’s the point? I like them, they’re fun and they remind me of my childhood. They vary in quality and sure you could say other movies were made better or had better stories but why does that matter? Is this making sense? Like if you enjoy a movie, that’s great. I’m glad you’re having fun. Why do we have to be like “no you can’t have enjoyed this because my opinion is that it sucks and this other movie is way better”? Just let people like things! Anyway, my personal ranking of the series is as follows: 1. Prisoner of Azkaban 2. Deathly Hallows Part 2 (fight me idc) 3. Order of the Phoenix 4. Deathly Hallows Part 1 5. Goblet of Fire 6. Half-Blood Prince 7. Philosopher’s Stone (Sorcerer for the Americans) 8. Chamber of Secrets
@@lupitaa5420 yeah sometimes really simple things just take a while to properly register for some reason, and then when you realise, it seems so obviously and you can’t quite work out why it didn’t click sooner
"What is 'a poor man's Palpatine'?" *"Daaad!"* Also: "Volder-Mort." Totally disagree about him just being evil for evil's sake, he has real motives. They're just too (and I know this will sound weird but) realistic for movie-goers to wrap their heads around. Change my mind.
@Ay Tone what does it matter when the actions were crap. Hitter's goal was to achieve economic hegemony for Germany but we all know where his actions lead
okay we get the "sarcasm", but can your sister do the second part? your family seems to actually like these, viewers would like more details and 4chan edgelords are a bit 2004
I have to admit that even though I love Ralph Fiennes' performance as Voldemort, your impression of him been a "Drama Queen", with all his poses and arm waiving was spot on. Great video, man. Hope part 2 is soon uploaded.
I just spent the whole week watching the entire HP series for the first time (it’s screened back to back all week) and it was definitely one of the best film series I’ve seen.
I was sooo thinking about the ATLA series, but I didn't because it's long for reactors, 60+ episodes. But I'm so glad you mentioned it, thumbs up. I hope he considers this show too.
The scene of Amos Diggory seeing his dead son is amazing though, that comes across as real pain, well acted by Jeff Rawle, your mother felt it I'm sure.
im just gonna explain why harry defeated voldemort so easily when he was 1, 11 and 12. first of all, when harry was eleven wasnt actually him that defeated voldemort, it was his mom. his mom sacrificed herself for him, and that made a magic that turned impossible for voldemort kill harry. thats why when voldemort used the avada spell it didnt worked. so the avada returned do voldemort, but voldemort didnt died cuz he had his horcruxes, but he became a ghost. so when harry was eleven, he fought with ghost voldemort, he was weak, and when harry burned voldemort it was again because of harrys mom. when he was 12, tom riddle wasnt the voldemort that everyone was scared of, tom riddle was a part of a soul of him, it was a part of a soul of voldemort when voldemort was 16. so yeah, he was teenager (and not even a real teenager, he was a part of soul of one). so i hope that expains to you a little why was that easy. and so sorry for my bad english,, im not fluent lol
How can one be too old for Harry Potter? One reactor said he appreciated it in a different way watching it as a young adult. He discovered new layers of the story.
Professor McGonagall saying '1, 2, 3, 1, 2 , 3' and the cat in the background looks like it's saying 'Why do I have to put up with this shit' :D He looks so uncomfortable
You know these books are directed towards children? Kind of unfair to hold it to the same glorious heights as LOTR when they are obviously for an older demographic (and the obvious being they have nothing in common to compare). Comparing it to the Hobbit is a bit more fair.
3:27 Bruh. You know Harry Potter's a book series right? You can't exactly blame the 'Script/screenwriters' for what is written in the actual book. Also the pieces Harry and Hermione (And Ron) sub in for aren't 'conveniently missing' they leave the board for them. In the book Ron gets straight knocked the fuck out by the white queen and dragged off the board. There are many flaws with the movies and reasons to dislike them. Everything you stated here is neither one of them. Research, it's a thing...
Ok, re: the chess pieces. Ron is not sitting on top of the knight. The Knight is missing from the horse, hence Ron has to take his place on the horse. Once on the horse he becomes part of the piece. That's why he's injured when the horse is struck and not himself physically. Btw, if you thought being 10 when you first saw this film was being too old, I was 30. (I was taken there by my girlfriend at the time as her neighbour was one of the set builders)
I like these taped viewings. It shows people not interested in the genre find themselves surprisingly engaged anyway. That says a lot about the writing and direction of the films.
[22:51] Please inform yourself before making statements. • Voldemort lost the first time because of the magical protection Harry's mother's sacrifice gave Harry. • Voldemort didn't lose the second time. Quirinus Quirrel lost. • Voldemort lost the third time, because he was only a memory. He couldn't stop Harry. • Voldemort didn't lose the fourth time. It was a draw. I can't imagine how one can believe that Voldemort lost. Neither he nor Harry could win, because Voldemort's wand and Harry's share the same core (phoenix feather).
I don't appreciate being called a huge dork by the guy who made the "piece of cake" joke, but I did enjoy the video so here we are 🤷😂 Looking forward to Part 2!
I LOVE your family. the LOTR video was so sweet and I can't wait for the remaining video(s) for the HP saga. might I suggest 'the green mile' for the future?
As a young child that preferred documentaries and crime shows over cartoons, I will not say Harry Potter was ever too childish and I continue to watch the entire series at least once a year😂 and make my mum sit through it too.
Everytime Voldemort lost to Harry (except in book 7 arguably) he was weakened. Year 1: A parasite in a dudes head Year 2: A memory Year 3: Didn't appear Year 4: He actually won that fight (he escaped because of the ghosts) And they didn't fight until book 7 since then
I'm not saying you're a bad person. I really like how you introduced your mom into the Wizarding world. But... I swear every time you said anything against the films I did felt the neeeeed to smack you. Harry Potter is my world and you offended me muchly. Yes it is really that good. And so much better than LOTR. Also, have you ever read the books? They are really good. Video=9/10.
You said beaten by a child 3 times by the second movie but it was clearly explained his mother’s magic was what beat Voldemort the first two times. Come on pay attention “movie buff” 😜 PS Your sister thinking Gollum in LOTR and the monster book in Prisoner of Azkaban are cute an going awwww is the best! She is literally the Ant-mans daughter meme!! Lol
Not to spoil dude, but Voldemort actually CANNOT BEAT that specific child. Also there’s way way more development that your not really seeing for all of their characters. It goes without saying that the books are better.
That you mock this movie makes me want to give you a thumbs down, but your sister and mom have saved you from your fate. J/K... just kidding. Also Rowling’s initials. The universe smiles.
I would like LoTR if it was interesting. I fell asleep before the half-hour mark of the first movie. Even the worst Harry Potter movie is better than LoTR in my opinion. It's also hella cringe.
Fitzhugh123 also the whole reason Voldermort is going after Harry isn’t just “because his motivation is he is evil” either. At the start it was out of fear for a prophecy, then as it went on his need to kill Harry became far more erratic, how was he supposed to amass a following if he can’t kill this one child, how can he aspire fear as long as there is someone who can oppose him with impunity, how can he be viewed as powerful if Harry Potter is his match. He doesn’t just want to kill Harry, he *needs* to in order to prove himself to his followers
Wow this sucks. You know you can enjoy different movie series and not constantly compare them, right? Not only do you misinterpret the plot on purpose, you try to warp the opinions of those around you. Then play it off as a joke. Yeah, hilarious, dude.
Don’t get me wrong I highly appreciate the Harry Potter films and books but could you actually imagine saying they’re better than the lord of the rings. As a grown human being.
