I’m truly just blown away with how much I wasn’t expecting to fall in LOVE with her through the entire process!!! But you’re right, the darker color wig does really make the eyes pop more and does them justice.
So according to Kathy on Rachel Hoffman's restringing video (which is the one I have followed), you need 4mm elastic chord for the tension cups for restringing and the ferrules or crimping sleeves should be 18-10 copper.
Thanks so much! And guess what? The same subscriber is gonna send me a super TLC McKenna doll have fun with and I'm planning to do a very similar customization and do a channel giveaway. It'll take a little while, but keep an eye out.
Ahh I love how she turned out! I love the green Felicity eyes with the black hair. Great makeover. The tattoos are so much fun. So impressed with how much personality came out of her! 🤗💕
She looks amazing! When you first showed her leg with ALL of the tattoos, I was so impressed that you got them on so close together and spaced so well. It's like you had a custom tattoo made just for the size and shape of her leg. Everything you did with her works so well together. Bravo!
Thank you so much, Beth. Whether or not she's everyone's cup of tea, I hope ppl can at least appreciate that I was trying a lot of things outside of my comfort zone and celebrate that they ALL WORKED!!
She could totally rock a spiked collar. I think she's one of the few dolls that will get some accessories and a few wardrobe pieces all to herself since her look is so different from the rest of our dolls.
Absolutely amazing! I love how Kenzi Calliope turned out! Her personality really comes through and her eyes are stunning with the additional lashes and dark wig. So cool.
This is fantastic! There are so many things in this video that I’ve been thinking of trying. I really like how you showed it step by step. Just focusing on one bit at a time makes it seem more doable and not so intimidating. I love the subtle cheek color. It adds just enough. The tattoos worked perfectly. And, those eyes with that wig!! 👏👏
Thank you - I'm really glad I broke it down enough that it feels empowering without feeling boring. And yes, I'm THRILLED with how well the tattoos turned out!
Agreed. I really like Maile (custom nanea with subtle freckles) and Alice (custom Joss w/Marie-Grace eyes and varying wigs) but Kenzi def has the highest cool factor.
I didn’t know she was one of your least fave dolls-I wasn’t expecting that or the way she turned out! She’s such a fun, unique doll now. The green eyes really pop under that black hair.
She's definitely in my bottom five lol. In fact, if you'd asked me on the spot to name one AG doll I'd never buy, I think I wouldn't have hesitated to answer "Felicity". But I love the doll she became - go figure lol.
She looks so pretty!!! I got two dolls from a haul and have been wanting to customize them to be some chatacters from a game, but I wasn’t sure where to begin. This video is very cohesive and definitely gives me confidence to jump in, even if they turn out wonky lol!
Kenzi! Lost Girl is so incredibly dear to me so I love that you now have a Bo and Kenzi. Now you need a Tamsin (my favorite 😂). The tattoos turned out so good, I love the ones you chose.
You are so welcome! I don't always do it, but with bigger projects I like to. Also, with this one I did it because sometimes tutorials will be like, "It's so easy. You just do XYZ, focusing on the technique but not acknowledging that you can only DO xyz if you have the tools and supplies. (and those have a cost)
@@agtakesover I know. She was one of the first AG dolls I bought. I was a novice AGer then and everyone seemed to be all hopped up on Felicity and a PC Felicity was a must. I think she had the PC stamp but she had a zip tie so not sure what to make of that. And the seller did not disclose the leg situation or the frizzy pincurls (I didn't know she had them until after I bought her). So she had sat in that box or in a carrier since about 2019 because I didn't know what to do with her. I think she knew that and was glad to just get out of my house and away from the curious cats!
Hello, I'm from Russia & I love this genuinely! So beautiful! You're very talented! I made an AG "Bram" boy doll out of an old AG doll & a wig. I styled his hair & then gave it a custom cut. I replaced the wig. On my 1st AG transformation, I made a "reborn" Larry doll. However, I ended up giving him away to a friend since he grew up "dangerous" to me-he cheated on a test! And now came Bram to fill in the hole Larry had left-his time with me was short lived(9/7/23-7/10/24) Bram was made from a "Courtney" AG doll while Larry was made from an OG "Theodore" doll. Now after losing Larry, I ended up with a new AG "reborn" Dutch boy doll named Bram, thanks to your effort on this!
13:33 I usually add a knot to the string just beyond the crimp sleeve as an extra precaution (backups are good! My husband works for NASA and they live by redundancy).
Wowww... Felicity who? Now, this is truly an extreme transformation 🤩🤩 You have a lot of skills!!! I don't feel comfortable even when combing my dolls' hair. I'm always afraid of damaging them in some way LOL!!!! Absolutely amazing 💜
Have you done tattoos on your dolls before? The only one I'd done was the 5 on Kaci's wrist so she could match me. But now I'm thinking about other possibilities, like scanning my own tattoos and then printing them on the kind of paper used for temporary tattoos so Kaci can be an even more precise mini-me.
Thank you! I'm convinced AG is leaving money on the table by not giving us a doll with these eyes and a black wig (they've made dolls with blond, red, and brown hair with this wig, but not black).
She looks good! I do prefer those eyes with dark hair, too. They really pop. I used to have AGOT 10 and sometimes really miss her. My Felicity is from 1993, so her eyes are more muted. The laser greens have grown on me, though. I like them on Isabel.
I have put that green shirt from the purple jumper outfit on Isabel and I think that does the most to tone down her eyes, but definitely the black hair is my favorite wig option for those eyes.
I normally really dislike Felicity eyes too, there just too bright, but somehow Kenzi just totally rocks them!!! Also the tattoo process is fascinating and awesome, I reckon I'll try it on Pollyanna!!! She always wants more tattoos!!! XD Amazing work Kristie! :)
Thanks - I really think the black wig color is the best option for these bright eyes I usually dislike so much. And I look forward to seeing Pollyanna's ink :)
amazing transformation! i could totally see her being a barista or working at a record store. felicity is definitely not my cup of tea either 😅 excellent video as always!! 💖
Yes, a record store or a coffee shop (or an indie book store). Or even a vet tech. If not a vet tech, then she at least volunteers at the Humane Society monthly.
Yes! Next I want to try printing some "tattoos" onto iron on transfer paper, emptying an AG body, and ironing them directly onto the cloth torso. How cool would it be if she could have a tattoo on her shoulder blade or clavicle or something??
Thank you. Initially I was just going to go over where her lip paint already was (because the very large dark, glossy, Bratz-like lips are not my preference) but they looked truly tiny. So I *very cautiously* extended the paint just a smidge beyond her original lip paint and I'm really happy with how it turned out.
I'm very impressed by how well the leg tattoos turned out. While this is definitely not my kind of style for a doll, I think you did a fantastic job on this transformation! Only her eyes give away that she once could have been Felicity!
I recently acquired a TLC Nellie with super floppy limbs. Once I cut the elastic and took all her limbs off, I wasn’t sure how to put them back and connect them so put her in a bag and mentally labeled her “future project” amongst many. Thanks for showing is how to heat up the limbs and put the cups back in the limb. Like you, I would put the limbs in a plastic bag too to avoid any potential issues or having to allow time to dry. I saw you colored the pink soles of the AG shoes and that was a perfect choice! Ever since Reba joined my crew, I started developing personalities for a few of my dolls and I’m working on a skit that (thanks to one of my subscribers) I’m going to video in the near future. Something that’s a bit different from YT videos I’ve seen. Curious minds want to know, how long (just a ballpark) did it take you to film, prepare footage and edit this video? Real nice job with her makeover! 😊
Oh, I hope you feel inspired to restring her. Someone said 4mm elastic is the proper size, so you could go with that lol. And thank YOU for the idea of coloring the pink soles of those shoes. We now own two pairs :) I'm excited to see your skit, and if I had to guess, I'd say this video took about 5 hours (subtracting breaks). Maybe 6. The hair and tattoos took over an hour each, I know that much.
Hello, at first I thought, oh my, what is she doing to this poor doll , And then I was like, oh my goodness, what a beautiful doll she turned out to be. I am totally in love with her. Enjoy her as much as I know. You will. Laugh watching your channel very, very educational.Thank you.
@@agtakesover no…I’m not sure what you’re talking about. I’ve had to cut some stitches from 2 of my dolls torso’s because the safety pin got stuck I wanna avoid doing that again. My TM21 back looks not good….i might have to send her in….
The first time I re-wegged a doll my husband looked like he was going to be sick ... He came around the corner to me with my legs wrapped around a headless doll, who i was scalping with full force. LMFAO. Doll folks can sound truly unhinged.
Watched this a while ago and forgot to go back and comment (I watch on a different account that has premium usually). I have Felicity but she's my least fav of the ones I had as a child and one of my least fav still now. Overall just not as appealing! It's those eyes normally! Plus mine has the grey skin disease. Love what you did with this doll!
Yeah, when her skin goes greyish and her lips lose their color but those eyes are still visible from across the room...it's just not a look I love. On Kenzi, though, I actually love her eyes. They look so good with black hair.
I really liked her until you added the black lip color and nose ring, not my style, but I do agree the green eyes look amazing with the black wig. Nice job! Really enjoyed all the tattoos :)
Everyone's tastes are different, right? I wouldn't choose her look for myself or want most of my dolls to follow suit, but I love having her as a unique addition to our collection and I'm so happy with how well all these first-time attempts went!
I wasn't raised with AG dolls (1) my parents couldn't afford it, 2) the concept didn't really interest me), but I've seen videos of people restoring the AG dolls from the 80s and 90s, and they have definitely dropped in quality
I think there are some really cool changes (notably the Create Your Own option, which is so cool) and also think there are some less cool changes (mostly quality-related).
