This was so interesting, especially since I didn't recognize a single song on that list 😅 I love watching people's spotify wrapped stats, always a fun time 😊
Jack getting the most emotional listening type while sitting next to the left of a huge stack of Joan Didion work is more of a personality analysis than anything Freud could conjur up.
love love LOVE hozier, especially the new album - the thing is: after listening to it a lot i just felt the need to read all the books that inspired him. now i'm on a rush to finish dante's inferno, homer and a bunch of flann o brien just so i feel ready for his concert next year 😂
A&W was my top song. I listened 221 times and it still gets me every time. However, Lana was overtaken as my top artist for probably the first time ever, by Miss Taylor Swift. I'm an emerging Swiftie, training up for going to the Eras Tour 2024 with some friends who have been fans of her for years. So Taylor has officially gained a new fan in me this year. Top Artists 1. Taylor 2. Lana 3. Billie Eilish (mostly What Was I Made For) 4. Pink Floyd (I listen to The Wall album more often than is healthy) 5. Mitski
@@cowboylikelea Yeah I was kind of surprised to see Mitski in my top 5 as she hasn't been in it before, but I think it's mainly because of Laurel Hell. I need to give her new album another listen
Great, now I'm gonna picture you listening to Paint the Town Red all alone in a dark corner rubbing your hands like a mischievous fly Thanks a lot, JACK.
I’m a 68 year old woman living on the coast of British Columbia in Canada and my top genre for the last 5 years on Spotify has been Reggae! I do like boygenius a lot and will have to start mixing it up a bit 😁. This was fun and Ihave been enjoying your channel. Thank you!
The only real surprise on my list was Paul McCartney. He was #4. I didn't realize I listened to him that much. But that warranted getting the thank you video from him. Which was funny and cool. Less surprising was I was categorized as a "Hypnotist" because I listen to a lot of albums all the way through. Which is true. I like to experience a whole album.
My top 5 songs were all from Evermore by Taylor Swift (Tis The Damn Season, Cowboy Like Me, Gold Rush, Closure and Happiness) so that really cements the fact that my music taste is not at all wide. My top two artists as well were Taylor Swift and then Minnz Piano solely for their Evermore piano instrumentals, so I effectively had Taylor twice in my top 5
Your taste in music really matches your taste in books, wow. My top artists were ZeroBaseOne, NCT Dream, The Boyz (all k-pop groups), WOODZ and Young K (amazing singer-songwriters, I feel like Jack would really like Young K’ music haha). Wasn’t surprising to me at all since most of what I listen is k -pop, k-bands and progressive house. And kinda matches my book taste, since a lot of my favorite books this year were korean releases (that reminds me, Jack HAS TO READ Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong bookshop by Hwang Boreum!)
my #1 top artist is Taylor Swift. 💜 I mean I always play all of her songs whenever I'm cleaning 😂 then the next ones are 5SOS, Up Dharma Down (an OPM band from the Philippines), One Direction and keshi.
My most listened to song is “motion sickness” and it’s because I got over the one horrible situationship . I am so proud of it. I ,too , should been in Burlington too 😂.
My top song is surprisingly still the same as last year. Dandelions by Ruth B. And 59,000 minutes listening time 😭 I need to be alone with my thoughts more often
having true blue and leonard cohen on your top5 is the greatest green flag i can think of! u should definitely listen to more lucy dacus jack i think you would really enjoy it! night shift and hot & heavy are such bangers
Ok this was sooooooo fun. I hope all my fav internet people do these types of music wrapped reaction videos. I love music wrapped season and I'm all here for it. Reacting to your wrapped needs to become a trend.
i wasnt surprised. when i got Red by taylor swift as my number one song. i screamed my heart out to it. which tells your just how my love life went this year.
Oh, I love bedroom pop!!! Such a nice genre. Essentially, it's sort of a subgenre of lo-fi and indie if that makes sense. My top 2 artists this year was Ricky Montgomery and mxmtoon who are both fairly prominent bedroom pop musicians lol. Funnily enough, my top 4 songs were all from Ricky's new album lmao
I find it really interesting watching other people's wrapped. Scrolling down the comments I realised I listen to wayyy fewer genres. I only listened to 15. But, I think it actually made sense because I'm also a Hypnotist. I just tend to listen to albums from top to bottom. I think it correlates. Happy spotify wrapped day!
Well that's what I have been waiting for :) My Top Artist was Lana Del Rey as well. 2nd is Taylor Swift, 3rd Florence + the Machine, 4th Miley Cyrus (that one is surprising, I guess I listened to her album plastic hearts a lot), 5th is Nothing but Thieves. 64000 Minutes and the Alchemist. I love music. Music is just amazing and is able to evoke all types of feelings and emotions.
Never really bothered to watch to spotify my spotify wrap up, but you made me interested. Appearently i listened to 59genres with over 2000 different bands and more than 5000 song for a total of 44000 minutes (really did not expect that):D And, hey, i'm a fellow vampire (but appearantly one that should visit taipei)
just wanted to drop a comment that many times by dijon was one of my top songs this year bc i saw your recommendation in jordan theresa's podcast!! so thank you for the great rec :)
Yay this is so cute :) I love seeing everyone’s music taste! It feels like such a personal insight! Also we have a book club with just Jack’s subs if any of you are interested! (details to join in replies)
I'm just starting to get into BoyGenius, my friend is always playing Not Strong Enough. My top 5 were mostly KPop (again) - Chungha (I listen to the Querencia album at least once every week), Seventeen, Twice, TXT, and then Carly Rae Jepson snuck in at 5.
obsessed with this!!! taylor was my top (which did not surprise me in the slightest!) with 150,000 minutes! and then you’re on your own, kid was my top song having steamed it over 13,000 times 🤭🥰
we have pretty much the exact same taste in music which doesn't surprise me at all 🥰 my top artists were taylor swift, noah kahan, phoebe bridgers, olivia rodrigo, and harry styles (which was kinda rogue bc i don't think i listened to him that much this year??) but boygenius, hozier and paolo nutini dominated my most played songs
ahh love that you listen to holly humberstone! i started listening to her a few months ago and she's amazing!! my favourites by her are probably overkill, haunted house and lauren 😊
Yess, I clicked on this video because I saw her song on the thumbnail! Been a long time fan of her stuff, they feel classic and I never get bored of any of her songs
You touched on exactly what I was thinking! Do the books we love coincide with the music we love?! You and I have very similar taste in books and in music! I’m also a vampire and choose darker, sadder songs and that’s also my favourite kind of novel lol. Noah Kahan was my #1 artist this year, and I saw Stick Season was a song you listened to but man, if you haven’t given the whole album a chance you’re missing out!! Ms. Swift was my #2 lol, and Hozier was #3!
oh you and i are the sameeeee. my love for the boys and hozier is too much. im going to need more noah kahan from you 😭 stick season was not enough. my top artist was 5sos 😅 my hyper fixation songs took over
I don’t know how but my top song was Hozier’s De Selby (Part 1) with 72 plays, I don’t remember playing it on its own and all the other songs on Unreal Unearth only have about 50 plays. It’s followed by True Blue, 20$, Emily I’m sorry and Tropic Morning News by The National (fave lyric: I was suffering more than I let on, the tropic morning news was on) so you may be able to tell how my mental health was this year. My top 10 artists were Noah Kahan, Taylor Swift, Hozier, boygenius,The National, Phoebe Bridgers, Florence + the Machine, Bon Iver, Lucy Dacus, Japanese Breakfast. I think you would really like Lucy Dacus’ solo music, her album Home Video was to my 2021 what Phoebe’s Punisher was to my 2020. Night Shift is another stand out track off of Historian.
What strikes me the most about spotify wrapped lists is 1. the genres that I never knew existed, including the ones I listen to and 2. how different everyones is. Pierre Lapointe is my moody fav and top of my list
omg we have smiliar taste I think. I also listened to a lot of boygenius and I love the fact that you have "all we ever do is talk" and "about you" in ur wrapped playlist. The 1975 were my top three artists after my favorite band "Wallows" and second top artist Taylor Swift. Ethel Cain is definitely a vibe! When I listen to her music I am always in such a goofy mood. My fav song of her this year was "family tree (intro)". I will listen to djon and ur top songs! I think u love indie as me so I can recommend "Inhaler", "Hippo Campus" and Dominic Fikes new album! They are so great!
My top artists were 1. Mother mother 2.Green day 3. I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME 4. Los Campesinos 5. Chloe Moriondo I got collector as my card thing
I also got Burlington!! So did half my friends, so it seems most people with the slightest indie or winter depression taste got it. (booking my next holiday there asap lol)
true blue imo best song in the record hands down 🙌 and for lucy definitely check out her album home video, partners in crime, please stay and hot & heavy are great!! night shift is a must too (for crying)
Jack! My Spotify wrapped was so much like yours. Burlington, USA. Here with me by d4vd. The Vampire. Lana del Ray & Hozier! So many of the songs in your playlist are in mine too. That's just crazy lol
The following three things we landed on common ground with - 1. I was also taken to the states (With Gracie Abrams); 2. I'm a vampire as well; 3. I loveeee Dermot Kennedy's music and I had not heard anyone even mention their name in any video before clicking open yours. Post script: Congrats for being conferred the opportunity of conducting interviews of the authors nominated for the Booker prize this year Jack! I am proud of you.
Lol my top artist is Forever and Always Taylor Swift - which is actually impressive considering I largely listen to her on CDs and Vinyls - then Noah Kahan, Sabrina Carpenter, Maisie Peters, and Minnz Piano (ie Taylor Swift Piano covers) - I listened to other music but full albums from pretty much these artists a ton for comfort and motivation - so I was also a Hypnotist. For books comparison, while varied my storygraph top three moods are funny, emotional, and adventurous.
Top artist taylor swift and second was Florence and the machine. I only started listening to Hozier and Ethel Cain recently tho so they werent in my wrapped this year
ykw i think you'd be into tamino's music as well. I'd highly recommend: First Disciple/ My dearest friend and enemy / Cigar / the entire discography tbh
my top 5 artists in order were: mazzy star, simon & garfunkel, taylor swift, cigarettes after sex, and don mclean. top song was under my car by mazzy star surprisingly (not really)
My top artist was Hayden Calnin who is an Australian indie artist. My most played song was Warm With You by Hayden Calnin, and everyone should listen to more Hayden Calnin!
my top artists were taylor swift, radiohead, mitski, hozier and sufjan stevens and my top songs were heaven by mitski, bags by clairo, i know by fiona apple, yuck by charli xcx and exit music (for a film), closely followed by your best american girl ... i had the most turbulent time of my life this year relationship wise and IT SHOWS.
