I just found a roadside Chistmas tree ! It has snow & lights. I can make a 1,000 trees for my diaramas . You would not believe what people throw out. Just take a ride through your local condo streets . I find really great stuff. I am a re-cycler re-purposer. I need a barn for all the things I find. TVs, blender, toasters, microwaves, air fryers, and much more. My wifey is not happy with all the stuff I bring home. But I can't allow the goodies to go into the landfill ! America is so wasteful. FYI I Happy New Year.

What is the waxed string called? What size wire? Well done by the way.
@Geordiecrafts
@Geordiecrafts Год назад
The string is called "plumbers hemp" and the wire I'm using here is craft wire from the dollar store that didn't have a gauge labeled, but I believe it's 24g or 26g. I have used 24g floral wire on other trees and that works great. Just make sure you don't get steel wire because it's super springy and very difficult to keep straight and work with. This is an example of the wire I've used before amzn.to/3iPw63u (that's an affiliate link, feel free not to use it though!)

Very nice video and method of making awesome looking trees. I make the conventional (for a lack of a better term) evergreen fir type trees w/twisted wire and ground foam, however, I may give these a try for some foreground trees. Much more labor intensive, but worth the effort for a large HO Colorado type model railroad. I need about 500-600 trees (or more) so most trees will be twisted wire, but I will definitely try your awesome technique! Well done and very well explained. Now, if I could just find a way to make the twisted wire fir trees faster! Philip Jersey Shore Area

Thank you for this video. I copied it. And looks almost like your tree. But it took a very long time. The second tree went faster. Many greetings from Germany

This is beautiful! I am currently tasked with making scenery for my mother's nativity scene, and I think a variation on this would work to craft some cedar-y or cypress-y looking trees. Since I expect they would need to be fuller, I am thinking about using a larger diameter dowel so the holes for the branches don't break the trunk.

Oh man... I hate reshaping our xmas tree with only 12 branches so this would totally finish me off. Great video though.

That's a beautiful tree! How long does it take you to make one of these? I realize that you are practiced at it (obviously) but I'm still curious. Thanks for sharing!

You didn't exaggerate about it being tedious. But the result looks really good.

I've seen a lot of tutorials on how to make conifer trees, and though many of them look great yours is by far the best one.

Hi Geordie, What a terrific tree. I am in o-gauge modeling. I am currently trying my hand at this tree. I have put shorter wires on the top, and longer ones going down the tree and then a little shorter ones on the bottom. I am waiting for the hemp to come in. On your tree ,you are cutting 1 inch of the hemp. What length do you think I would have to cut for o-gauge? My branches go from 5 in. on each side ,down to 2 in. Thank you and keep up the magnificent work. By the way my tree is 16 inches high.Too short for o-gauge?

Amazing! This work requires the patience of an old Chinese man, but it is well worth the effort.

Bellissimo, complimenti. Grazie Abito in Germania
