My Musical Journey Begins! Alesis Recital 88 Key Beginner Digital Piano Review 

I'm 64 and ordered one today....going to learn, I just recently retired so have a little more time now.

I'm happy to see someone interested in piano, and don't worry about the songs I have been playing since I was 7 and I am 15 now and I still make mistakes! So it's ok to make some mistakes, also your wave of determination makes me happy.

I Just decided to learn piano few years ago. Most people start learning this instrument as a kid and I'm so glad to see someone else starting It from scratch out of decision, just like me. You got a new subscriber!

I picked up the bass guitar at 20 and now at 54 I play just about anything I want and it’s totally up to the individual on how you want to apply it.

First of all, I love the piece you selected for this. It is very easy for beginners. I see that you play by ear. I suggest you start practicing the left hand first of your pieces to get the mood, rythm and dynamics of the music. Then after, you practice the right hand since you can easily pick the melody by ear, and then you play with both hands. Play pieces that are slow, you love listening to often, and music played with piano. Best of luck to your journey.

Heyy Stevie, been a fan since my uncle used to take me to the old ECW shows. Just wanted to say, as a musician/multi-instrumentalist, I'd say just learn chord voicings and a general idea of the notes so you'd be able to understand how to each note can make a full chord. Don't worry too much on "theory" in the beginning, it'll just start as a big learning curve. That's what I did. Got comfortable around a instrument and learn the theory as I play the songs I like. Like a language, it's best learned when talking instead of practicing verbs and nouns from a book.

Don’t feel bad about being nervous... I just returned to playing piano after 25 years and I can have a great practice session before my lesson and I’ll STILL screw it up!!! Italian Concerto is my current nemesis... good luck with your pianoistic journey!!!

you're doing great. I've been playing by ear for years and I can say that that "I can only imagine" is a very awkward key interval to learn to play because of the wide leaps. I learned it and played it in church but it was different. Also, I would recommend doing scales and exercises to get your fingers to move naturally over the keys. Example: Right hand , thumb on c and play CEFGAGFEC, repeat starting on D, DFGABAGFD, and so on up the keyboard. For left hand start left pinky on c and do the same intervals. Then get both hands doing it togehter untill you get to the C an octave up. Then go down, right pinky on G and go GEDCBCDEG. Continue the pattern going down. You are using all 5 fingers on your hand when doing these.

Sounds like we're the same age, I'm 49 this year. After 25 years I've brought my keyboard down out of the loft as I felt I wanted to learn piano again, just as when I bought it, but gave up as my keyboard only has 61 keys and I was really busy at uni ( I was a mature student ) at the time. I'm looking for a full size, 88 key digital piano, this is how I ended up at your page. Good luck with the learning, I will be subscribing to your channel to use you as inspiration for my learning. Well, I brought the same model in july, it's not the best model out there but for the price and the feature it's offer it's seems fair. By the way, I also began at thus moment my learning journey of piano at the age of 27.

Hey Stevie, great stuff. If you want to start with some classical inspiration, try Fur Elise and then the Moonlight Piano Sonata(First Movement). by Beethoven. These were the first couple of pieces I learnt when I first started playing and still amongst my favourites today. Enjoy the musical journey!
