I love these kinds of videos, Craig. Not just because the collector in me enjoys seeing a bunch of old games all together, but also because many of the games you talk about you have stories from your childhood attached to. I also feel like you're very well-articulated when you talk about your past. I may not have grown up at the same time (for me, the GameCube was the system I have the fondest memories of), but hearing stuff like this still reminds me of good times I had playing games with my brothers, neighbors and friends. Keep doing what you're doing, man :)
While the PS2 will probably always be my favorite console of all time, I have no doubt in my mind that I have the very best memories playing the N64. Whether it be playing Perfect Dark, 007, Tony Hawk, Mario 64, or even some of the more quirky/fun games like Beetle Adventure Racing, Star Wars Eps 1 Racer, or Vigilante 8, my buddies an I would always play until the early AM on Friday night sleepovers :) Not to mention the games my dad and sister would also play with my like Mario Party 2 and Diddy Kong Racing. SO good. Excellent collection, Craig. Always a pleasure to hear your thoughts, especially relating to the great N64 :D
Man bro that was a really heart warming story at the end there. I think that all the great memories from playing video games definitely helps people overcome whatever obstacles life throws at them. The N64 did that for me.
Cool to have a videogame back then i was a kid had a difficult life, as you had too. In my case, was a Sega Genesis (Mega Drive here in Brazil) back in 1991. I was hyped when i came home from school, and saw that cool console already installed on my first colored TV. I had only 3 games, a bootleg cartridge (with 12 sega master system games), Altered Beast and Allex Kidd. The other games i rented all weekends. I has not too much, but i was happy with my brand new console.
Even though my first system was the SNES, the 64 was the first system that I severely wanted to own. I must have begged my mom for months to get one. Sure enough, at the ripe old age of 8, I got one after tax season along with Donkey Kong 64. Even though I play and kinda collect for a ton of consoles, I don't believe any console will ever replace the memories I made with this system. It's the only system left that makes me still feel like a kid while playing it.
Always enjoy watching collection videos! I have fond memories of the N64 myself mainly to do with Conker's Bad Fur Day, which is my favourite game for the system and playing multiplayer with my cousin before wrestling PPVs back in 2001 and 2002 and having a blast. I agree with you on Banjo-Tooie also, I prefer the first because the 2nd was too big for its own good and the backtracking you had to do to previous areas with new abilities was too much, I've never finished it but finished the first several times (also 100%) and I love that game! Looking forward to more in the future!
i had never heard of hybrid heaven until now. the description made me laugh and was also sort of a revelation. i'm speaking as a person who isn't much of a wrestling fan. it's ok but i think the idea of putting someone in a figure four in a turn based rpg is awesome! square soft take note. now i want to go and dropkick darkfalz. sega take note.
Nice collection, you have all the essentials. My younger brother had an N64 so I got to play Goldeneye, Ocarina, Mario 64 etc, and I have a great appreciation for the system. I was a big PS1 guy though although it took me awhile to get the money for it. SNES and PS1 are probably my favorite systems all time.
Hey Craig there are ways to fix the N64 control stick without replacing the stick. Looking it up on RU-vid should be as easy to find as looking up Gameboy battery replacement videos.
my first N64 games were donkey kong 64 and golden eye i remember playing video games happily with no fights with my 2 brothers. my nephews fight constantly over the Wii and the ds it makes me sad to see this.even though i am a 90's baby i remember playing the nes and snes. i miss the retro consoles that made me happy. especially the N64
Great collection of N64 games, Yoshi's story was very under looked back in the day. And I wish there was more RPGs on the system but it is what it is at less they had Mario 64 and the two Zelda games lol
Also as meh as Starring Goemon was, it's still one of my favorite N64 games, the setting, and writing always get me. It's a shame Konami has abandoned the series. And the music is amazing
I can't belivie you like Blue Storm better than the original. It's so stiff and iffy and lacks all the atmosphere. Other than that, AMAZING collection! Loved watching and listening to it. You should pick up a game called Snowboard Kids. One of my all time favorite games. Its a mario kart-ish game with cute characters on snowboards and amazing music!
Great Collection Craig. No Ogre Battle 64? Was confused when you got to Paper Mario and said that was all the RPG's on the system. It's one of my favorite games on the 64, such an expansive, fun and deep game and I don't even particularly like Strategy RPG's. Any reason why you don't own it? I know it's quite pricy if you're going for a boxed copy though.
+Triforce Wizard A lot of N64 games are unreasonably expensive these days. Probably because the people that were kids in its heyday are now adults with disposable income and are driving the prices up. Happened with the SNES too
Hey Craig. Great and insightful video as always. Just wondering, any possibility of seeing an updated look at your PS3 and 360 collection, now that the PS4 and Xbox One are just around the corner?
Gus1494 I always like watching other people's collection vidoes anyway just to see what their thoughts are on certain games that I liked when I was younger or in some cases, still do to this day!
Great collection video Craig, if you gave time I put up some of my collection videos too, you have way better n64 games them me. I find it hard to find games for it in my area.
craig I am currently in high school and I am having a really hard time playing my consoles would you recommened a 3ds and or vita is it even worth buying a handheld especially since I own a phone were I can download emulators
hey im in high school too and i have an Xbox i never play and a Vita and 3DS. If I say so, I think handhelds are the BEST way to go, because with my workload it is way easier to just to flip one of them open instead of booting up a home system. Plus the games are a bit cheaper, and especially the 3DS has an extremely large and diverse library.
I Need Gex 64 Enter The Gecko And Spiderman And Bomberman 64 The Second Attack And Toy Story Two And Pokemon Stadium Two And Batman Beyond And Rayman Two The Great Escape And Indiana Jones And James Bond 007 The World Is Not Enough And Mario Tennis For Nintendo 64
Nice vid, N64 is one of my favorites to collect for. Good on you for getting some boxes. I'm not that brave, but I am gonna use the cover project some day to get em all nice and spiffy. Here's my decent collection i.imgur.com/uEOdm.jpg pic is a tad dated
