Truly sad day for our country and the arts community. An exceptional being who navigated multiple worlds with integrity, wonder and ease. Though having never met him I was forever drawn to his magnetic performances and commentaries. Sorry day and business for many families and communities connected with this special uncle, one that we all feel connected too. Thank you for all that you did for your people, culture and the arts. Your story and the stories you told will live on, long long after this day. Our hearts are full with awe and wonder.
"I am the greatest dancer in the world. Just for me,,,,,,, though." Such a beautiful sense of humour, such a beautiful man. Even in his last days, he is still trying to give. What's not to love.
I have always adored David, he is, I’m my humble opinion, the most important actor to come out of Australia due to his unique character and native ties to this country! He will forever be iconic and missed! This documentary makes me feel grounded, even in the face of death David was a gentleman and true to his values and character, what a loss for his family, our First Nations people of Australia and all of us who admired his talent from the big screen, There will never be another like him! I loved every single thing he acted in and have watched many of his interviews! I will Miss him! But not as much as his kin will, I offer my condolences to his most beloved family ❤️
a truly beautiful and strong soul... I want to know how he came to feel that no one recognised him and his brilliance - this makes my heart hurt ... some people come here to improve this world and that's exactly what he did...
I knew nothing of this man before “Crocodile Dundee” and all throughout my life I never forgot who this actor was, but I never saw any other work that he did. I remember watching him him dance in that movie and always thought it was so authentic and beautiful. I wished my culture was as rich that one could drop all the modernity of our culture and revert back to nature, if not just for a little bit. I will try and watch this and other movies he has been in and will now attempt to binge on his life’s work, to get to know him and the culture more. Rest In Peace.
Rest in Peace David Dalainthngu, how we will miss a brilliant aboriginal actor, dancer and story teller,it was nice meeting you many years ago in Darwin, thankyou for the kindness of your heart,RIP David Dalainthngu.
My teen-age crush. Who could ever forget "Walkabout" and "Storm Boy"? He's leaving a massive hole in Australian arts and in my heart. Goodbye Gulpilil. ❤❤❤
When the camera is on his eyes, you can see the pain and sadness in them. He worked so hard moving away from the way he had grown up. A man who moved a piece of the world.
Here in the U.S. we rarely hear anything about the Austrailian people let alone the Aboriginal people. I have no idea who Gulpilil is or was. Im sorry for your loss Australia.
Movies Walkabout The last wave Storm boy Mad dog morgan The tracker Rabbit proof fence Charlies country Many more I cant recall just now. Shot to stardom early 70's as a cheeky faced teenager that just knew we all loved him.
Rewatching Crocodile Dundee and found out who this man was last year just before he passed away in November, it hurt so much to know he did, RIP David 🥺😭💙
Yes truly sad, he was unabashed and authentic to the bone with a very loveable personality. So tragic that his talents led him astray by the influence of the white man's weakness. So sorry we've lost him 😭
