Another funny old day today. I decided to cycle down the Stort Navigation towpath from Twyford Lock to Bishop’s Stortford. I got as far as the built-up area and turned back. Passing back under the railway bridge (49b) I came across a shocked walking young couple and a huge tree fallen across a moored narrowboat. The young couple had arrived just before me to find the tree down. The tree, bless it, had hit the only boat moored that side of the bridge. The hateful thing at least held off long enough to miss me as I’d cycled under it ten minutes before, I ought to be a bit more grateful. There was that rather grim search amongst the mass of foliage to see if there was anyone that had been on the boat, but fortunately no sign of victims. I called the Police on the 101 number and unsurprisingly….no reply. I called the CRT on their emergency number for boats in danger….and no reply….”all our operatives are busy…” Another cyclist had stopped, he started going through all the numbers on the CRT website while I held on the emergency number, fortunately he got one that answered. I went through the foliage and found the boat name and number for the CRT lady and about that time the boat owner arrived. Lord but I felt for him. The main tree trunk had hit a short length of railing saving the boat from a lot of the impact though all the top branches hit the roof. Oh my goodness that sounds horrendous and it hasn’t even been that windy! Wow I really feel for the owners … I do know of a boat that a tree fell on and sunk the boat 😩 thankfully these are very rare cases but can happen. I’ll take a look at the photos now 😃

Ahoy, I do have an external Ariel but unfortunately the Llangollen has some black spots and I couldn’t get any with the 3 network and Gareth and Lou couldn’t get any with o2 either :( I usually upload my vids from my phone either on the WiFi or just using 3G on my phone. The longest you can be to do the whole network would be 57 foot just like mine 😃😃🏴‍☠️

I’ve recently found out it’s because it’s Wales apparently 😄🏴‍☠️

😂 I often cope without any as long as I can walk to get a signal and we did spend 6 hrs there, however I have a business that takes orders from a website so need to be able to run that while living the dream 🌈 it’s what pays the diesel after all 😄😄🏴‍☠️

It’s kept me awake at night that one! 😂

They are a right pain to blow up and deflate and when your messing about on them daily it’s better to keep them blown up … they are fab for bin runs, and heading for the shops as often it’s a pain to unpin and move your boat just for that and often in the summer the moorings are busy / full so great to just pop in a canoe 😄🏴‍☠️
