I've found that a rubber hose that fits snugly over the tip or even the body of the spark plug is a great way to start them. The rubber hose provides NO torque, and will just spin on the plug if it doesn't go in right. It can be tricky to get them to start, but they WON'T cross-thread.

Spark plug sockets have a rubber insert to hold the plug while you get it started. 30 plus years as a "pressure washer mechanic" here and our rule has always been to treat the customer the way you want to be treated. No matter how "good" two people are, sometimes bad things happen during the course of a deal that is no one's fault. Our policy is to be the one that pays that 100% of the time. I still do a hell of a lot for free and it is no big deal because we sell soap and that is where our main business is. The problem is that the vast majority of people aren't like you and me and those free extras aren't remembered after you drive off. I still do it because I feel better doing it that way and I've decided that means the most to me.

You did the right thing, I saw a plug come out of a go-cart engine like a bullet, because it had been tapped out. If you're going to err, always err on the side of caution, especially when you're doing something for a customer. Good video, Rob and Hello to Carolyn.

Great decision with that lady. Good idea to make sure it's not warranty work. If it would of acted up while you were mowing her lawn and it needed a coil then I would of charged the 25 service call plus the coil and labor for that. But that just me and what I would do. Worked out well you got free advertising and good things that will be said about you.

The way the saying goes in my life is, "No good deed goes unpunished ." That outboard ran great in neutral. Not so much when I went for a test ride. Today I'm going to pull spark plugs and dowel the pistons and turn the engine by hand. There's either a problem with a piston or a bent valve is what I'm starting to think
