my parents bought me Castlevania II - Simon's Quest right before we moved from Alameda, California to Guam when my dad was in the military. I had the boxed game with me but my NES was packed away for the move. it took almost three months for everything to make it overseas to us in Guam while we lived in a hotel. Everyday I was excited to play the game so much so I read the manual backwards and forwards so many times I memorized it. when I finally played it I loved it so much that it stands today as one of my favorite games ever.

I've got it on my christmas list. And right now, every time I bring up how hard I hear it is to find my parents just quietly glare at me and suggest I find something else expensive to put on my list. Honestly, the short controller cable length isn't a deal breaker for me. I plan to hook this thing up to the TV in my bedroom, which I don't sit further than four feet away from. Though it does suck for people who like to sit further away from their TVs.

I want one of these NES mini's because I've only played the SUPER MARIO BROS trilogy,Ninja Gaiden and some the first two Zelda games but the rest are new to me as far as playing goes.

Reminds me when I was a kid; I never had a NES, but I had one of those bootleg consoles with pirated games; I played Mario, I played Contra, I played Ice Climbers, I played Duck Hunt. I'm in Latin America, so I won't probably buy it, but it's still a cute little console

Sup, playcousin! My anecdote regarding both picking up this system AND one of the games on there. My parents split up when I was 13, and my grandmother -- to make us feel better -- bought us an NES Power Set -- with the Zapper and the controllers. She also got my brother and I each a game to go with it. I picked Ninja Gaiden (because I'd played it in the arcade and thought it was great), and my brother chose Rampage for the same reason. My dad, to keep my grandmother out of the poorhouse, said that she would only buy us NEW games when we beat the old ones first. It was in this way I found out two things: Rampage can be beat - it's got 100 levels, and an ending screen. And Ninja Gaiden is the reason I didn't have any new games for the NES for four years. But I finally beat it to a pulp. How'd I score one of these? Well, I stood outside of a GameStop, one of the smaller ones in my area, and was third in line. Luckily, they limited the number that could be bought to one per person, and they had 9 for sale. We all stood outside talking about NES memories, and one lady was getting one for her husband who was about to be deployed overseas. There were people in line who were Trump supporters, those who weren't, but we were ALL NES supporters. :) It was just a spur of the moment decision; I stopped there because it was on my way home from work (I work overnights.) Enjoy your NES system! I've been playing the HELL out of Zelda (never beat it as a kid) :)

The biggest deciding factor for me on this thing was the games. I did not grow up with an NES (Sega Genesis FTW) but the games I am interested in I already own on other platforms. I'll leave it for someone who actually wants it.

I had to line up in Target at 7:35am in the morning on a school day. In Australia. I was #27 out of the limited 40. And I'm so glad I was able to get one, so fun!

Waited outside Toys R Us at 4 a.m. First out of 25 people, the guy next to me worked at electronics and told me they had 15 consoles. Turns out it was actually 9. Bought two of these and the only two remotes they had.

When it comes to the NES, I literally have no memories of my life before I got one. It was my 5th birthday and my only memories of my life start the second I opened that present that had the NES in it, I remember playing so many of those games, hell I JUST recently as of 2 months ago beat LoZ 2 Adventures of Link...took me over 20 years to do it and i had to do it on my 3DS with save states to try and avoid the agony of Death Mountain. Never did beat the TMNT game...aside from the later ones based off the arcade games. I rarely ever beat any NES game I owned but I loved them all dearly none more so than the Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania, and Legend of Zelda series. Ninja Gaiden was stupidly hard...throw your controller against a wall hard but my life long love of ninja started by the Turtles back when I was growing up made me tough it out. I also had a friend next door who played almost entirely nothing but the sports games from NFL to Punch Out (with Mike) and hockey...yeah...I got my ass stomped alot in those.

I was first in line at my local gamestop from 6:30am until opening. They only had 8 and one spare controller. I never had one at my house, however I was near friends who had one and most of the games on the classic edition. I agree with Andre and Alphaomegasin on the topic.

I'm much more interested in a potential *SNES Classic* with games like EarthBound, MegaMan X, Final Fantasy VI, Link to the Past, Ninja Turtles, and so on. SNES has a lot of fantastic games and it'd be cool to have a miniature version of the console on my shelves as well.

I also got into trouble where my parents would not by me Super Mario Bros 3. To make a long story short, my friend somehow thought that the clerk at a convenience store said that we could have all donuts for free. Well, he heard wrong, which we discovered after we each ate one. The manager got upset, called our parents, accused us of stealing, and boom, no Mario 3 for me.

Just yesterday my dad...🤣...Went to the movie theater at like 10:30pm and from there...he brought like a chair,sleeping bag,pistachios,and camped out all night until morning at Best Buy becuase they got back the nes classic edition consoles,so he just had to be one of the first and he got one!My dad and sister are playing it as I'm typing this comment!😂

I've been loving mine. I got mine yesterday morning, and spent last night at my parents' so I could get my dad playing with me. We had a blast going through the Marios, Pac Man, and others, and he was convinced he wanted one until I had to tell him that, by the time we were playing it, they were already being scalped between 1500 and 10k on eBay. In the early 90s my parents got annoyed that I was hogging the big TV with the NES for so many hours, so they made me move it to the basement and I had to play for a while on an old black and white TV. Dr Mario became impossible!

There's a part of me that wants to believe that that entire song was 100% improved. The thing about Mario 2: I don't understand why the Doki Doki Panic thing is still an argument. Mario 2 had a ton of influence on the series. Shyguys, Snifits, Birdo, I'm sure there's more than I'm remembering.

doki doki panic was in fact a mario game originally, it was supposed to be what mario 2 was actually going to be in japan, but they felt it was too far off from the original game so they changed it to a copy of the first game for the sequel in japan

I think it's great for me because I've watched my older cousins play these games when I was growing up, I was a like a very young so I couldn'tve played them when they came out, but I've always wanted to. So this would let me actually play them, I'm at a point in my life where I can go back and play all the games my parents wouldn't let me play, they banned video games from my house because my mom didn't want me to be distracted and stay in the house all day. So I guess it's kind've good, I had a short attention span lol

hopped over to Wal-Mart this morning at 6 and got a ticket for 1 of the 12 they received (everything was closed here on the 11th). Sadly, even though they got 12 systems, they only had 1 standalone controller So yeah, got the classic (it'll be under the tree for myself) and will hopefully be able to grab a second controller, maybe some extension cables too. As for childhood stories - I never owned Super Mario Bros until the all star pack on SNES. my NES had no game included, but my parents got Legend of Zelda with it - so that was my first NES game.

I like to think that if they release a new version of the NES Classic, they will put the entire library of games in it. There's an argument that you could sell USB drives with various assorted games. There's merit to that, but it would be nice to have the whole set in one game box. It's clear plenty of people will buy this game system anyway.
