That's a Carstens Bluebill, That's no budget duck boat. It's fiberglass so you should be able to patch that hole in the bottom.

Yes definitely should put a top on the truck bed So you can keep all of your duck hunting stuff out of the rain and keep Fred out of the rain

Bobby those kennels are worth the high price, I’ve seen many people that have gotten in high speed wrecks and their dog and kennel were perfectly fine

Hey Bobby, I wouldn’t do the kennel in the back, I’d go with a topper. It’s safer and puts less stress on your dogs. We actually lost a 2yr old chocolate lab from riding in the kennel in the back of the truck. He was having some kind of allergic reaction so we drove him home from the coast to see our vet and he passed that morning from hemorrhaging out in his brain. My dad is a vet and the only thing he could conclude is that the allergic reaction and the stress from riding in the back pushed him over the edge. Anyways, do what you want, just wanted to share with you the lessons we have learned.

Even if you get a topper for the truck a box for Fred would still be a good idea just for his safety if anything were to happen while you are driving.

You can fill the seats with marine foam and increase the buoyancy by a couple hundred pounds if needed!

I use RuffLand Kennels and I’m happy with it. Not cheap but not terribly expensive. Also check out SPS swamp runner kits, you can repurpose that motor with a new long tail kit and save money over buying an outboard and they’ll take you anywhere. I have one with a 6.5hp on my 12 foot jon boat and run 18mph top speed 10-12 cruising with a full hunting load.

Them gunner kennels are almost indestructible, seen someone roll a truck with one in the back and it only had a few scratches.

Bobby, I am saying $251 for the boat. My first guess was $250, but I am seeing a lot of guesses at that price, so I will pull a Price is Right move and say $251. Get a topper for your truck but don't put it on until the weather is cold. Summer months I like a truck with no topper. Winter months it protects Freddy from the cold elements.

Get a topper! I have an 18’ ram 2500 and I think it looks great. Can’t beat the security, weather protection and not having to worry about stuff blowing out of bed. I have the ARE Z series and upgraded to the remote lock and unlock that uses your factory truck key fob. It’s awesome.

I get that I'm a little late to the party, but you should look into those bed drawer boxes. They are waterproof, have somewhere near a ton weight capacity, and has plenty room for gear, guns, ammo and anything else. So you could do that, and get that kennel so you can leave it topper-less and still have your gear protected. Just a thought

That black decoy was probably a black duck and not a coot. A coot has a beak rather than a bill, if I remember correctly. When I was in high school back in the early 50’s, hunting ducks on Mobile bay I had mallard paper mache decoys that I paid $6.00 a dozen for, but that was big money for a teenager in those days.My uncle had 6 or 8 burlap sacks of machine carved hand painted wooden decoys he and my dad hunted over in the 1930’s. Wish I still had them today, or just one for sentimental reasons. I do have my uncle’s Model 12 Winchester 12 gauge that was made in 1927. 32” full choke and 28” improved cylinder barrels. Sadly I have gotten to old and physically challenged to hunt anymore. Enjoy the hunts, pigeons are tough, like doves. Ducks are tougher, they can simply haul ass, especially with a following wind!😊

If you think about it. Gunner kennels are guaranteed for life. That’s not very expensive for something you use that much and it’s cheaper than a shotgun.

Many of those decoys are from the 1970 s There are some hard plastic Victor decoys they were bad about cracking on the bottom in ice. There look like some Arrowducks made in st louis they came in plastic and before that paper mâché with tar like material inside on the bottom. There were also steel weights like the first one you showed that I think were Orvis.. I have 3 or 4 dozen decoys similar to those that got replaced years ago but are not really worth even shipping but people will buy them at flea markets etc for around $15.

I picked up 4 dog kennels at the airport because all animals are shipped in a kennel by air and some of the people that pick up there dog don)t want the kennel .You can get the at a bargain price . Also check out the yard sales .

Get the topper and the Gunner Kennel, I have one and wouldn't trade it for anything. Check out the testimonials from people in roll overs with the Gunners. Yes they're pricey but my thought was my dogs safety is worth a hell of a lot more then price of the kennel.

get a gunner kennel i know that they are pricey but no other kennel matches up to it and if you get in a wreck it could save freds life i have seen pics for truckes that have flipped with a dog in the kennel and the kennel only got a few scratches on it
