great overview of a really useful instrument and tool. The ability to midi export really increases the versatility.

I think the only way to get authentic compositions out of this tool is through: 1- MIDI export everything in a story 2- Let other instruments play them (Because I really really don't like the sounds in the Score) 3- Tweak/Change everything to make them sound yours. For example, change the ostinato patterns, change piano arps, ..etc. The goal is to make a certain story to sound like a completely unique and different arrangement. As a final touch, add a brand new "The Score" instrument track and play a similar story in the background behind your main arrangement for additional thickened support. In my opinion, this is the only way to benefit from it. Unfortunately, many beginner composers think that they'll use it "as it is" to compose a completed track out of the box.

I do agree with you. This is an interesting 'launch pad' of an instrument and a very quick tool to give ideas if you need a bit of inspiration

Since you've also tested The Orchestra Complete 3, what's your opinion between that and The Score? Do you think they complement each other, or if one gets the other, there's no point in getting the other? I know they serve a bit of a different purpose, but at the same time they are deceptively similar to a person just starting out in learning this stuff. I, for exampl, can't decide exactly because of this. The Score can give 10 instruments on one go, but it doesn't seem to hinder The Orchestra either since you can use multis. The Score has a chord and melody editor, and you can edit the modulation ranges (which I guess The Orchestra can't inside it), and so on. But apart from those, what's the different use case here? I'm reeeeeeally confused. And am I correct that while The Score has a quite a powerful dynamics editor, the MIDI export doesn't actually export any of that data but just the MIDI notes? So, in order to utilize those functions, you do have to use The Score's instruments within it?

Hi! Sorry for delay.... i have only used the score to give me ideas and orchestration inspiration. I haven't written with it.... i would use the Orchestra complete for that..... The score is simply a great ideas maker for me. If i were to pick one.... i would go with TOC as i have used it more!

So they do offer me different things. The Score (for me and on my opinion) is a fantastic ideas maker. It's one of those libraries that you can pull up if you need to get some creative juices flowing. I wouldn't actually use it to write. The danger is that there is a load of music out there simply sounding like the score!! We must keep our individual voice! But as ai said it's such a good cure for writers block, orchestration ideas or simply to get a project moving.... somewhwre!

Bestservice answered a similar question somewhere else:"In order to be able to offer as all-embracing an instrument palette as possible, we have done extensive new recordings for The Score. For the orchestral part, we recorded strings, brass and woodwinds with various articulations for high and low ensemble, (instead of split smaller sections as in TOC3). Also new are the percussion drums (London Recording Session) and huge trailer hits from the Boom Library, almost all band instruments (bass, various drum sets, guitars etc) and most of the World Instrument category (Recording Sessions in Teheran & Georgia). In addition, we have also included the most suitable sounds from previous products (e.g. Origins/Elysion) and other sounds that simply fit the new recordings, such as the Concert Harp or the Mallets from TOC3. All in all, way more than 50% of the instruments and sounds are new material! The Score, although based on the ideas of our previous products such as TOC, Elysion and the Action series, is a product of its own that we will continue to develop in the near future. Hope this helps :-)"
