I love your enthusiasm when you get new kitchen equipment! That's one huge set of pots. As Linnet says, they need a good wash in soapy water before use.

The stuff you got on your fingers was probably some lubricant used in the manufacturing process. Wouldn't be a health issue as long as you wash the pots and lids before you use them.

I’m glad you’re excited about your new pots! I also love getting new kitchen equipment. The residue on your hands almost looks like aluminium dust. At any rate, I agree that they should be thoroughly cleaned before use. I can’t wait to see what wonderful meals you cook with them!!

It's nice to have new pots! They always seem to come carefully packaged in plastic against scratches and damage in shipping. I suspect the dust is from manufacturing - like everything I buy, I wash a new pot well before using it because you never know what might be on it from the manufacturing or shipping process. My pots are similar in style, although of different material. I have extra of the smaller sizes that I use most often, and actually gave away the biggest one or two when I moved to a smaller place. I used to use them mainly for sterilizing when making jam or jelly, which I don't do any more. Many people with larger families have large pots they use a few times a year, when they're hosting their relatives!

Even in our country, the pots come in individual plastic bags. We cannot get away from them

They look aluminium to me. And @robertcoulthard7461 and @Linnet09 are right -- wash the pots!

I'm very happy for you, Babatunde! I remember when I was able to buy the set of pots and pans that I had saved up for for a long time, I couldn't wait to use them! Here we are, 30+ years later and I still have them, plus a few acquired doubles of the ones I use most frequently. With proper care, a good set of cookware will last you a lifetime. Happy cooking with your new pots! May they bless your family and friends with lots of delicious meals for many, many years! (After you give them a thorough scrubbing, of course. 😉) I look forward to seeing what you make with them first!
