I like the fact that you kept it simple, maybe in the future you can learn how to program with it, perhaps now most of your DCC loco's can be set to their road number. I would recommend getting a Broadway Limited Automatic Decoder Reader/writer which is like a Bachmann EZ Command but like Decoder pro it investigates what the locomotive is programmed to, you can do that instead of going to the hobby store. I use it at club, works every time.
Nice to see your new DCC controller, I am working on getting a DCC controller for my layout, I really appreciate you making content like this to help relativity new model railroaders like me improve and grow our layouts!
I’m very happy for you. It’s a great system. I think if you switch it to brake the train will stop dead. SMT’s journey into DCC. Exciting. It’s gonna be a good summer!!
Now that's a real DCC controller! Fun fact, the direction and speed control knob of the Digitrax DCC controller is exactly the same as the Kato DC controller.
Nice video man, and welcome to the modern world of DCC. And yes, you've only touched the top pebble on a mountain of possibilities. Programming will be much easier than the Bachmann system. I've had the Zephyer for four years now and I love it. Two things I would highly recommend. (1) Invest in a fairly cheap laptop to run JMRI(Java Model Railroad Interface) and set up a separate programming track. You can do the more complicated programming and keep track of it much easier. (2) Run a Loconet cable around the layout and have a couple UP5 plug ports for tethered throttles and a UR92 for radio control. You can also use Loconet to run Tortise switch machines and set four of five as a 'route' and set them from both the Digitrax throttle and Zephyer. You can even make a diagram of your layout and set the turnout direction with the click of a mouse switch. It's an exciting world man, jump in headfirst!!
Thanks, I try not to unnecessarily cuss but to be honest if you we're to go though all my videos you'd probably find a few. Click baiting on the other hand is something I try my best to avoid as I don't appreciate it when others do so.
SMT Mainline well a lot of channels I watch when I say cuss it like every sentence can’t watch it if I’m around family are in public settings but this one I can
Hello I am in my 50's now and have 4 grand kids two girls and two boys and all of them love trains and I recently purchased a used train set that is dc. Which I'm going to build a ho layout for the kids to play with. But I'm having some issues with finding train locomotives that I can afford since I'm on disability retirement so I'm wondering where a budget friendly shop or on the web to find a good price to purchase rolling stock and locomotives for thank you for your help. From mitch in mo
Glad your enjoying your controller, I got the same at home, and have lots of fun. I’m honestly surprised that it run a layout that size, when I bought mine, the dealer said he would be surprised if it could run a layout bigger then 4x8. Enjoyed it. -Kyle
Yeah, I think he was wrong. I've had it running my 10X14 layout as well as six or eight tortise switch machines using DS64's as the computer interface. And I still had another 20 that I had planned to install.
I love you new DCC controller. Digitrax. I need a Digitrax DCC controller for my layout. Locomotives DCC with sound. Work with locomotives DCC with sound ? Where is you 🐱 ? Scooby Doo is a good dog with the cats.
If your done with old one. You are send it to me, lol I have the command 2000. To go with the tech 3 power command 9000. It's very limited but works. Was trying to get a bachmann but got out bid last minute.
The person who created DCC has evidently never heard of a server crash, digital controls, digital signals and security systems require internet service (including DCC controllers), only digital clocks and displays don't (digital displays generally convert analog signals to digital before displaying after all). Not a lot of momentum, just having trouble receiving a signal (it operates similar to a cellphone).
Quick question. Do you know if atlas DCC works with bachmann? Have N&W 385 and a DTI 201. Both have decoders can't get them to work Ideas? Also noticed that it has a sticker on inside on decoder that has no.8 the other has 7. I think. I had 2 extra chassis . They had no Axel's but motors worked. So switched them over so I could run them. Only had 1 of each. DTI and N&W. Still want to use the decoders.
SMT - The power cord may have a 3rd prong " safety ground " conductor as part of a circuit in the power supply, to bleed off any static coming in from the electrical system.
Hey Smt I’ve got a Question what scale is ur layout table like by feet also can I have a link to where you get your track I’ve looked everywhere and I can only find the Bachmann ez track I want the type of track you have on your layout, thanks! :)
With any DCC system, it's probably a good idea to make a roster of your DCC locomotives, or as I like to call it, a cheat sheet. You may need to make a few copies of the roster for any guests visiting your layout, or when you might misplace one.
That’s really awesome! My O gauge layout has the MTH DCS system with a Lionel TMCC hooked up to it. I currently have some important priorities to worry about, but I’m going to be looking for a remote based DCC system one day for my HO layout if I can go forward with that.
Customer Service sucks! They don't honor 3rd party items! Make sure you have a sales receipt, if you have any problems, they won't honor their guarantee! Just ask Vinny! Make sure you have an isolated program track! Or remember to remove other locos from track before any programming is done! RH
Definitely need to get a pr3 or pr4 and JMRI makes your programming a piece of cake. Run your loco net thru your computer and play with your trains at school ha ha
Very nice I was thinking about getting that for my layout but I couldn’t decide to get that controller or the nce power cab But I’m pretty sure I’ll get the power cab
Oh, you poor poor thing. You feel for the oldest trick in the book!! NCE is WAY BETTER THAN THIS SPACE MACHINE. The only thing easy to do with Digish*t, Oops I mean Digitrax, is connect ONE locomotive. You want to DPU or MU? Ha. Better call customer support and maybe after an hour of instruction you got it. No seriously I do not know what they were thinking labeling all those buttons wierd things and everything. I use this , well, when I was still in the hobby, and boy is it hard to use. Well I wish you luck
