Exactly! Meanwhile Taylormade Sim2 are still 499! PXG is so underrated and great clubs! I got the Gen 5 driver when they released the Gen 6 for 249 and free shipping! Best driver I’ve ever owned owned and the cheapest driver I’ve bought since the 90s maybe?
I got one of the PXG bargain line drivers and its so good I replaced my Taylormade M5 with it. The standard shaft a strong regular is superb and the head has a nice weight too it. The M5 was too light for me. I did put on De Chambeau supersize grips and this makes a big difference. So easy to swing with these grips and I highly recommend them. I even put them on my irons which are also PXG bargain line. They are hollow with a nice insert to help rebound and again I recommend them too. They go at least a half club length longer than my old irons as they are hollow and have a higher COF. Like a mini driver but they are not as forgiving as regular perimeter weighted irons so keep this in mind. That was the rap on the Gen6 irons in the new 2024 Hot list, they go a mile but are not that forgiving. I have no problems with mine, though. And I saved a huge amount when I purchased them as their price is very reasonable. Just my two cents. Never thought Id be a PXG fan but I am now.
I do think PXG have been doing some great things over the past few years. Reviewed a few of their clubs last year and loved them. Even played the gen 5 PXG driver for a while. Looking forward to getting my hands on a few of their clubs this year to try and review.
I just got the Tour Edge E723 MOI+ and it played absolutely phenomenally. I am a high handicap player with a slow driver swing speed. I had a Cobra FlyZ and currently my drives were around 270yards. I had tried a RadSpeed and it did not do anything for me. Flights were still all over the place so I sold the club. The E723 flew straight from everywhere off the face and distance was consistent from everywhere on the face. I did not gain any yardage on the good strikes, but gained yardage on my mis hits. It was a great upgrade for me.
James would there be any chance of a review for the 0211 PXG driver? It’s all well and good reviewing a £500+ driver that most won’t buy if we’re starting out. At £239 you can get fitted for the 0211 which seems remarkable value for money but is it any good? Would be valuable to a lot of us I think! Thanks!
I hit the standard Black Ops driver during the hero pre release and was blown away. The retail price is crazy, but the hero price is reasonable. I am supposed to do the challenge soon.
I just got mine and let me tell you. It is low launch and low low spin. I game the TSR 8* set in the C1 position(-.75* loft and. 75* open). This driver 8* turned up to 9-1/2* is still so low a spin that I can't keep it in the air. I believe it spins less than the srixon zx5 LS. When I do catch it with some added spin it's 20yds longer than my tsr3. Just FYI. Don't shrug your shoulders at trying the 10.5* head. I'm switching to it. Crazy.
I changed my ad di 6s to a 6x in my g430 LST. I’m done tinkering for the year. Aside from putters sometimes I play my phantom x12 sometimes I play the Newport 2
Going in to PXG in two days, ostensibly for a 5 hybrid fitting, but fitter wants me to try the Black Ops driver as well. We'll have to see what I walk out with . . (Btw, I envisage stuff all the time. In fact, I envisaged my having the PXG driver in my bag just last nite!) Great vid!
higher driver loft is gonna help most people, i know you know this. pros have amazing upward angle of attack, non pros struggle since everything else is downward. now ams can get closer to zero but still get launch angle. 10.5 lofted up is gonna be the best for most golfers.
I have the black ops it is so awesome have it in 9 degree play at 9.7 degrees. First time fitted for drivers and hit it farther with less dispersion than Callaway or Taylormade.
I just received my PXG Tour-1 and I cannot make this thing go left (I'm right handed). My miss is a hook if I get too quick with my hands and now with this driver, everything even after messing with the weights wants to go a little right. I'm actually ok with that but it's something I need to get use to.
I have the Gen 5 0311, and it is truly the best sounding driver and they are known for building the lowest spinning drivers on the market! Do yourself a favor and try one! Big plus they’re at least 100 cheaper than all the big boys!
Like always, I really enjoy these videos. But are the knife laws in the UK so strict you can't carry a little pen knife to open these boxes (lol). Also, my wine gums came in, very tasty. And the comment about every club you test going in your bag, I pretty sure your bag would be over 14 clubs if that would be the case
I’ve been preaching that a 10.5 loft driver is the answer for most golfers for a while. I have a 105 mph club head speed and I use a 10.5.! Put this driver in the bag James
And don't cut the Hood, they are there to be Worn😂..Like the guy at Tennis covering his eyes from the sun, while wearing his hat Backwards😂..Im not saying Uni-Bomber..But..Love your Consistency in producing Quality Content for us
I would love to see the new range of drivers being tested at an average golfers swing speed, I heard a someone on the course saying he saw a review that a one of the new drivers went 300+ yards and I thought no that’s not how it works.
Were we not all told to loft up 11 years ago with the SLDR, because it was so low spin, and a year later everyone was binning it because low spin = low forgiveness when the odd long one novelty wears off.
James can you try the new cleavland xl range both halo and hy woods they are supposed to be great game improvement clubs for high to mid handicap players
Just another evolution of PXG claiming to have gotten it right again. Seems like they release a new line every 6 months, and you can see how the weights have moved each time. They had numerous models with 4 weights, then 3 weights. Each new model of course came with advertising material about how they got it right this time. Based on performance, it looks like the fitter did a great job, so yes, go ahead and bag it. A drier course and warmer weather will get you another 15-20 yards come summer. That will be about the time PXG will be releasing their next driver.
Was thinking about this same topic last night... golf shoes were invented because regular shoes were smooth bottomed. Now, trainers have tons of grip.. I wear Altra Olympus high tops in the spring, and fall.. same shoe but low top in summer... way more comfort....
It's all about this guy, the rest of them too and they know who they are, getting free expensive equipment hoping the normal geezer out there will be the mug and buy it. Never going for a brand new driver again, sold it after a month, I was the mug once, never again.
Re the PXG you are testing on the course and in the simulator. It appears you are aligned either right of target or square and every time you swing the club, you appear to pull shot to the left?
Nice. How much was the fitting and how much did YOU pay for the club? Also how much was the shaft upgrade? It's not an option on the PXG website. Great video about you bragging and bosting about a club that is over priced for the average golfer. 👎
Good review overall but I'm noticing my favorite RU-vid subscriptions are getting longer and longer covering something that always drags on a bit... Does anyone know if they get paid more if videos are longer? It's starting to feel like every video of every person i subscribe to takes 8 minutes of content and makes it double?
What kills me is the avg golfer who thinks they’re good, but really aren’t, get new clubs, usually drivers, every year or even more than that. They seem to have the funds to do so. But still get on the first tee, slice the eff outta it, or duff etc. the reality is, most good to excellent golfers, even pros don’t switch clubs or drivers that often. (Unless under contract of course). Because, once they find something they like and get used to, they want that familiarity and reliability. To get a new driver every year, or even 2 years, spend $500 plus, is a friggin joke. I outplay and outdrive everyone in my golf league with my 20 plus year old driver. I have newer ones, with my newest about 8 years old, but I always go back to the trusted ones that got me to a scratch at one point. There’s a guy in my league, he has the newest everything, dresses like tour pro, thinks he’s great and rarely breaks 50 on 9 holes. Complains about the greens when missing a putt, even though they’re perfect. Hits a horrible drive, looks at the bottom of his club like it was the club and not him, says “not crazy about this club”. Even though he just dropped 600 bones on it. I just laugh, shake my head and move on. I’m sure you know the type I’m talking about. Those are the fools the large corporations go after. “20 yards farther”! Lol. Go spend $50 on a used driver, clean it up, get the right shaft and new grip, and move on
Again, why do you get so into the unforgiven driver? You’re not Chris. You need the most forgiving driver, not the longest. You don’t hit the ball far, just get forgiving and hit fairways. Not FORE LEFT!
This is not your Real Driver. Your Swing is not a good Match for 10.5 Degree. Your Swing Plan is around 9 Degrees for optimum Distances. Higher lofts are for players having difficulty hit ball straight.
This is $650, that is not a realistic price for the majority of the golfers today. You also talk a lot about golf being too expensive, is this not a perfect example of that. Disappointing
It’s literally only $50 more than the new Smoke, G430 10K and $20 more than the Qi10 LS 🤣 All drivers are hanging around the $500-$600 range now. Blame the industry, not James Robinson 🤦🏻♂️
The Taylormade Qi is the best driver this yr ….callaway 2nd ,then cobra ,, then ping ,, ping starting to piss ping loyalists off……….pxg ?? Which pros win with them ??? ……. Also the owner of pxg is very arrogant,, don’t like the firm .
