It happening to me right now, last month I got a off brand Lamy Safari with extra fine nib, 4 ink cartridges and a converter. I starting to love it and this month I bought myself a wing sung 3013 transparent with a fine nib. I thinking about buying iridium pen if I got the money!

Yep, the struggle is real. I started out with just a Lamy Safari, now I have 11 pens. Since January, I have been to a pen show (had a fantastic time), have joined a pen club and now have about 30 ink samples. I also now have really good pen friends. This hobby is now a passion, part in thanks to Doodlebud the Enabler! Long may he reign!

@@Doodlebud I would go to any show you were a featured speaker at. Hope you get an invite to do just that at some point. Had a great time at my first one, got meet and talk to Ben from Gravitas and Ian Schon (not something us civilians get to do often)as well as many other fascinating folks. Hope you can get to a show soon. The Pacific Northwest show is in Portland from July 13-14th. I know a few folks are going to that one. Also as of today, 13 pens are in my collection. Picked up 2 new to me pens today.

Delighted you’ve reviewed this as I got one with the bead blasted finish as well. I’m thrilled with mine and went for the broad titanium nib. A brilliant writing experience. One of the best pens that I own . Probably, almost certainly my error, but mine came without the pen clip. I emailed NAMISU and they contacted me back within 10 minutes. I sent them the pen, on their recommendation and it was back to me in just over a week and no charge. The most amazing customer service. I’m over the moon. Thank you for a great video😊

I, too, bought this from Kickstarter. I got the petrol finish and also the fine nib plus an extra-fine Ti nib. It’s a fantastic pen. I agree about the clip - it’s very stiff.

I would have to agree titanium makes for the best fountain pen material. It’s very sturdy but also light weight and can have really neat finishes. I might have to get this one too. I love collecting pocket pens and this one is at a good price. I don’t put them in my pockets for fear of them falling out but kept securely in a carrying case!! Thanks for the review, DB

Damn rabbit hole! I'm 4 weeks in. 5 decent pens plus 3 Pilot Vasities, 1 Preppy. I've given away 4 Preppies and a Varsity trying to drag friends down with me, LOL. Let's not talk about all the notebook purchases... This pen looks like it would fit nice in my shirt pocket.

Lamy EF and Monteverde EF nibs are Both broader than a Sheaffer ‘regular’ Fine. A number of my pens are being problematic in the heat, but my Sheaffers always wright.

Yet another fountain pen that I absolutely do not need yet absolutely must have! The game proceeds, That little pocket is where I also carry. The body heat is far less and therefore far less burping.

I love my little Nova! For anyone who might be interested I thought I would mention that the knurled collar at the back of the section is what the nib unit actually screws into so if you try to unscrew the nib unit, as I did almost immediately, you might be frustrate because the unit seemed to be turning but not coming out. You have to hold on the the knurled collar as you turn the nib. This setup also allows you to tweak the nib alignment to get the nib realigned with the clip. I am terrible about playing around with different nibs. I put a Majohn/Moonman on mine, but it is a little much on this little pen so the original M is going back on soon. I should also confess this bit of stupidity on my part; in the process of playing around with the nib, etc., I either did not get the cartridge back on fully or bumped it a little loose. Imagine the lovely blue surprise the next time I removed the section!

First 50 seconds of this video are so accurate, they hurt. I use that little extra pocket for coins. Where I normally put my pocket pens is in one of the many extra _extra_ pockets in my work trousers: a little, almost pen-sized one, down somewhere in the region of my left knee.

Thank you for doing this review. My husband and I both backed this project from the Edinburgh based brand Namisu. I chose the clipless version of your beadblasted titanium pen and my husband chose the Ultem and titanium version. We both agree that the quality of the pen is fantastic, we have both chosen to use the included blue black cartridge to ink them up initially and then to refill the cartridge with bottled ink once it is empty. I can say with absolute certainty that the Kaweco Sport cartridge converter doesn’t fit because I tried it. I chose to upgrade my nib to the titanium Bock nib in medium for £45. This arrived in a separate box and my pen arrived with a bold steel nib. It was easy to change but you have to remember to hold the black piece below the section otherwise the nib will just spin round and round. The titanium nib is amazingly smooth and a joy to write with. We definitely recommend that pen enthusiasts give the pen a go once it is launched on the Namisu website.

Wadda ya know?! I also got in on the kickstarter campaign and received my pen about a week ago. I've been using it quite a bit am glad I added it to my collection. For a tough, EDC pocket pen, it has no equal in my collection of around 45 pens. Of course, it can't supplant my Pilot Elite for looks or writing quality, but I only carry the Pilot for special occasions and only put it in a shirt pocket--never my pants. I elected the Ultem/titanium combination without a clip. It took a bit of getting used to because the Ultem is so light but I'm finding it quite nice to use. Since a car could roll over it without damaging it, I'm not too concerned about it rolling off of a table or anything else. Lastly, the titanium grip is surprisingly unslippery despite not being brushed. All in all a very good value at $75. Even at the now retail price of $93 I'd consider it worth the money.

I'd have jumped on that for 49 quid. That's a pretty sweet pen - and I'm a fan of the clip too. Their N2 pocket pen looks pretty sweet. Huh. I'm still holding out for a 3rd Gravitas (the vac-filler) - been resisting all pens for a while now - not a collector, so I can only use so many. Cheers, DB!

LOVING mine. I tried eyedroppering it without even applying some silicon grease, so take it with a grain of salt, but it IMMEDIATELY dumped ink. Ordered some empty cartridges and an ink syringe, and it's happily played with my favorite ink so far. Also makes a fun fidget toy spinning the cap on and off during stupid work calls. :D Edit: to clarify, I've never eyedroppered a pen before, so no idea what I SHOULD have expected.

I have carried a Pilot Varsity pen in my pocket for years, to me that's the way to go carrying a fountain pen for EDC. I got 6 on Amazon for $13, they are lightweight, work great, refillable if needed, and disposable so I am not worried about losing it for some reason. I have also given a few away after people seeing or trying it and falling in love with it.

I wear cargo shorts (almost year round) and carry my pocket pen in my right thigh pocket. Talk about going down the rabbit hole... my collection of pocket pens includes; Ensso in titanium, ebonite & Ultem; Gravitas in stainless; Schon DSGN in aluminum and brass; Kaweco in plastic & aluminum... one of these is always in my cargo pants!

It is a fantastic pocket pen DB! Great minds think alike, I also chose the bead blasted, but did not opt for any extras and I got it with the fine nib. Like JennyEverywhere mentioned, you skipped the part about how to get the nib & clip to line up when posted. When I pulled my pen from the box, the knurled piece at the end of the section was loose, but it was quick enough to figure out how to line things up.

It looks well designed. I appreciate the #6 nib and the clip. I think every pocket pen should have a clip because you never know what situation you’ll have to use it in and you don’t want it accidentally rolling off the surface you’re using. I’ve hemmed and hawed over pocket pens since I got into the hobby. I wanted to love the Sport but the section doesn’t agree with me. I’ve wanted to try several of the ones you showed in this video but the cost always put me off. I did use a Pilot Prera for a while which is probably the best price to performance ratio I’ve found on a pocket pen, but I realized I always carry a bag with me so why was I limiting myself to pocket pens? So now I keep a Preppy in my bag at all times, along with a Tombow BC-AP54 and a Uni-Ball One for paper that isn’t FP friendly or for when someone asks to borrow a pen. The Preppy is close to the perfect EDC pen for me. It feels good in the hand, writes well, has a snap cap with a clip that posts securely, and is so cheap I won’t be upset if I lose or break it. The slip and seal cap ensures it won’t dry out sitting in my bag and will be ready to write anytime I need it. Plus it can natively take Platinum carbon black cartridges. It’s a win all around. If I ever want to have a sturdier and/or classier looking pen, I get all the same benefits from the Platinum Prefounte and Plaisir.

I have the same pen, but I had an issue with it. I didn't get the titanium nib, but as you said about Bock nibs, this one was so dry, it would barely write. I tried shimming the nib just a bit, to get it a little more wet, but it somehow managed to get worse. I'll see if I can fix it later. I ordered a Conklin #6 fine nib, and it arrived today. I fitted it this afternoon, and now it writes like a total dream! The thing with the clip aligning with the nib, the black knurled collar where you insert the cartridge unscrews. If you back it off a bit, you can adjust the clip alignment.

I got this same pen (broad bead blasted), one thing that was a bit of an issue that you didn't talk about was the black alignment collet, and how the nib will be able to be twisted unless it's really tightened down. Was afraid of over tightening and stripping the plastic threads on the back of the nib unit, but in use it doesn't really move much. Also would have kind of liked an o-ring on the section/barrel threads, it looks like it has enough room for one, but a bit of positive resistance would be nice, had it back out a bit before I put some Teflon tape around them, made me that much more dubious about ever eyedroppering it. That being said, since it arrived it's been my primary pen, and I just kicked my first cartridge yesterday, so am going to go clean and syringe fill it! I'll save an attempt at eyedropper for another day...

Yeah they have all the nib alignment info on their site. Don't have to snug it overly tight and it will stay in place.

@@Doodlebud yeah, mine felt like it was taking more than I wanted to get it tightened down, but got it aligned and left it alone, but still feel like I could twist it by the nib. Not sure how well the collet seals for eyedropping. Haven't gotten brave enough to try that yet

@@justinjones4199 Just depends on the use case, I use them mostly for sketching and drawing so I like a fine with a bit of flex for various line weights, but for straight writing I usually go for a medium nib. After that you can start to look at different grinds, Architect, stub, music, etc...

Having looked at the pens this company produces, I'm suddenly very interested. I'm a big fan of metal grip sections, and Bock nibs are fairly easy to swap out, so I might need to save up to try one or two, even if I'm not in the market for specifically a pocket pen right now.

The only pen I kept in my pocket was my varsity, and I didn't take it out of my house either. Unfortunately I lost it possibly because the clip was too loose. I'm still trying to find it. I kept it in my front right pocket clipped to the pocket.

I adore that titanium finish, at the very least! I got the Monteverde Lightning special edition in titanium rainbow, and it's my current journaling pen. The Black with silver shimmer ink they sent with it is gorgeous!

The problem with your videos is they tend to make me wanna buy new pens. So I came up with the solution: watch them in mute while doing the other stuff (like watching other videos). Hopefully I still added to your videos watch time
