Three Dog Night is an American-Irish rock band from the 60's-70's. This band had a lot of energy. They had 3 guys with great voices that could all sing lead vocals. Hope you check out some more of their music. Some other great songs are "One", "Just An Old fashioned Love Song", Eli's Coming", Shambala", "Mama Told Me Not To Come", "Joy To The World", "Try A Little Tenderness", "Never Been To Spain", "Easy To Be Hard", "The Show Must Go On" etc.
Old Fashioned Love Song was one of my favorites. No one would have put them on stage with hair like that in 1961 🤣. Let alone in color. They were great.
Lead singers are Chuck Negron (singing lead here), Cory Wells and Danny Hutton. Jimmy Greenspoon (keyboards), Mike Allsup (lead guitar), Joe Schermie (bass guitar) and Floyd Sneed on drums. Many more hit songs to go such as ELI'S COMING, OLD FASHIONED LOVE SONG, SHAMBALA, TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS, ONE, CELEBRATE, NEVER BEEN TO SPAIN, EASY TO BE HARD and on and on. Glad to see you're enjoying them!
Ahhhhh this is one of my all time favorites!! When I was small I would sing this to the top of my lungs…. No matter what anyone else was singing lol🐝❤️🤗
This song came out in 1970 and it was like, a HUGE hit for them. They have many more, like "Shambala", "One", "Easy To Be Hard", "Liar", "Eli's Coming", "Black And White", "Never Been To Spain", "Celebrate", "Old Fashioned Love Song" and "The Show Must Go On", yeah, quite the rabbit hole. This was really awesome, thanks so much!
This must have been '71, not '61. You haven't even scratched the surface with these guys, yet. They were one of the most talented (soulful and singing) bands of the late 60s and 70s. So many hits. Hey brah- you took my shirt!
From their 4th Album "Naturally" Released in 1970 on ABC Dunhill Records. In Canada their Albums and 8 Track Tapes were released on both the ABC Dunhill Label and RCA Victor as is Steppenwolf whom they opened for in Tours during their first two years in 1968 and 1969. They also toured with Sly & The Family Stone. I'm still baffled they still have not yet been Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Chubby Checker still has not been Inducted yet too.
A "three dog night' refers to the number of dogs it took to keep one warm in Canada or Alaska at night. Presumably, one had a dog sled and a string of dogs.
In addition to being #1 pop for 6 weeks, it even reached the R & B charts. One HELLUVA, HELLUVA (double HELLUVA) song, and that's not a title I bestow lightly.
They had so many hits for us baby boomers in the 60s and 70s we had the best music real music real singers real instruments... You should check out easy to be hard and black and white
I watched it all. I love this era of music ... what I grew up with. You should definitely listen to more TDN! They had 3 lead singers. Continue to watch them live ... they had so much fun and were so funny! You will continue to like them, trust me.
I think this might be a video of a live performance with the album version audio dubbed over. Not uncommon for '60s and '70s videos. The audio recording equipment at live shows was very lacking.
Their songs were very apropos for the time - 70's. Another one for consideration is Black & White, regarding racial equality. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WkFn68Mp2zs.html
You will like all of their songs. They are talented and funny, very witty! The Vietnam War Era was so intense it made you feel as if you couldn’t breathe. These guys were definitely a big breath of fresh air, helped everyone cope during those times. Watched it all with you Adogg, thank you!
The lead singer on this one is Chuck Negron, but there were actually 3 lead singers in the band. The lead on Mama Told Me was Cory Wells. The third singer was Danny Hutton, and he sang lead on Black and White. For you next reactions, I would recommend one of these: Eli's Coming (amazing live performance here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0CuNBengxaQ.html), Easy To Be Hard, Try a Little Tenderness (this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Xu6DUq3QboI.html), One, Shambala, Celebrate, Never Been To Spain, Liar, Black and White, Just an Old-Fashioned Love Song, Pieces of April, One Man Band, The Show Must Go On, The Family of Man. As you can see, they had a LOT of hits, so you've got lots to choose from.
I was 19 years old when this was released and I can still sing it word for word!!! Ya know...the important things in life, you never forget!!!🤣🤣🎶🎵 Joy To The World is also a Christmas song!😉😉
Love them, their live performances are very energetic and all of their songs are great. *I suggest "Eli's Coming" for your next one, (live, 1975, their vocals are better than the album).*
That is Chuck Negron singing lead. Cory Wells and Danny Hutton alternated on lead for other songs. The Dogs were the best super group in history with a ton of hits. Listen to Shambala, Old Fashioned Love Song, Try a Little Tenderness, Eli's Coming, Nobody, Celebrate. Let Me Seranade You, One, Never Been to Spain, and on and on the list goes. They were fantastic.
Chuck Negron is the lead on this song. I had such a huge crush on him when I was younger! If you listen to Eli's Coming, listen to the studio version. Sometimes they tend to goof off a little too much & the song quality suffers some. They have so many great tunes!!!!!
And where did they get their name from you may be wondering? Simple enough. It's a measure of how many dogs it takes to keep you warm in bed on a cold night. Seriously. Look it up.
