Of course, thank you for sharing and giving us a glimpse into what you do! You aren’t getting the attention you deserve and hopefully this helps shed a little light on it.
@@MichaelWWestbrook Well you just gave my channel a shot in the arm. Much appreciated. Someday I'll learn how to make videos, too. Ha. For now, it's low production value, hopefully high content value. :)
I always wonder why more creators don't do this... I went and subbed JO immediately and I have yet to watch a video. If my channel ever gets big enough, I hope to do a lot of this. I have recommended your channel to quite a few friends!
Michael thanks sharing about his channel. I am not sure I share his concept about "learning songs". While it can teach you some new things musically, it can also get you too song dependent in your playing. However what he states about guitar players learning to support the singer and paying attention to the dynamics of the band during the song, is probably the hardest thing to teach young novice players. His presentation is excellent.
I think the ideas of learning songs is similar to learning vocabulary and how to use it. Basically by immersing yourself in great parts, songs, and tones you learn how to replicate that on your own. I can understand what your saying as maybe some people would have a hard time moving towards their own original ideas from there but it’s hard to find any great musician who hasn’t studied the greats
✔️ done … and Michael. You too are wellspring and someone people should share with others. I have personally grown from your YT channel. I’m sure others have. Thank you sir.
Sweet of you to highlight Justin O....I listened to him with Brett Papa and it was really instructive and useful on playing parts. Really self-effacing about his talents. Thanks Michael
I got hooked on his channel back in February and watch every week. So helpful to see and hear the process of tracking parts for a song. Thanks for helping people find his channel.
It’s kinda crazy you made this video, I too have been watching his channel as of less than a week ago. I totally dig it and just him as a person… just a normal dude with a sweet job, giving away knowledge for free. I just love that we live in a time where we have access to all of this amazing stuff!! Sorry for rambling lol
Many online guitar-related videos seem to be aimed at players who never leave the bedroom. Justin actually shares useful information from the point of view of someone who actually works as a real studio musician, with other real musicians, who actually get records made. His advice and demonstrations about how to approach and help improve a song is invaluable. At the end of the day, technique is great, but not much use in the real world unless it can be channeled to make real music.
