Hey Brian, hearing a dealership raise the price over sticker by 10k is a crime and should be illegal. What makes this even worse is that you worked for the dealership and if anything they should keep the vehicle at MSRP for you. My personal feeling would be to walk away from this dealership and trash the dealership and the GM on the internet. They don’t deserve the business, would definitely post buyer beware on this dealership. Keep looking and you will find a true loyal dealership…
That tundra you own is more valuable than that Ford so don’t pay that extra 10 K and keep your tundra. My wife drives a tundra and absolutely loves it. You will have less problems with that Toyota in the long run. And keep trashing the dealership on the Internet for what they did to you that is absolutely horrible.
i totally agree with you, For me CHARACTER MATTERS, We have dealers in my area that are jacking the price well above MSRP I will remember them when i get ready to purchase another vehicle. This really should be illegal but its not.
I’m in Pittsburgh and now will never go to Moon Twp Ford, regardless of how they handle this. I’m getting my Bronco for $1000 under invoice, but I did get it in writing when ordering. I would not pay the $5k over either as even though a small group of dealers may be charging a high ADM, thousands of dealers are offering MSRP. If this is how they treat a 19 year employee, imagine how they treat regular walk in customers.
@@PIPSBURGHVIEWS I’m got mine from Stephen’s Auto Center in Danville, WV. They’ve been first class, have courted Bronco buyers and are straight shooters. They even posted their deal -$1000 off invoice on their website. They are going for volume and not screwing people over. They probably have more Bronco reservations than all Allegheny County dealers combined. I shopped local too last year and no dealers would commit even to MSRP at the time so I went there and couldn’t be happier.
What would they have done if you still worked there? There is no way I would ever pay more than MSRP for anything, no matter some shortage or any other BS reason. Good luck on it Brian!
I’ll never look at dealerships the same way again. Since the shortage, they have really showed their true colors. They are even below ambulance chasing lawyers. My vehicles are both 12 years old and I’ll drive them till the wheels fall off. I’ll never give a penny to any stealership!
I live in the H E B area, and I've heard some bad things about Grapevine Ford. What about Sam Pack's Five Star Ford dealerships? Are they doing their clients better on this?
Back in 2010, I was looking to purchase a new Shelby GT 500. The dealers in my area were doing the exact same thing, 10 - 20K over sticker. I called Ford to complain and they told me that there was nothing they could do. I ended up purchasing the exact car I wanted from another dealership in another state, no ADM. What a crock of crap.
@@Mustgtcs07 Special or high demand products reveal the character and culture of a business. I'm afraid a lot of car dealers don't value their customers period.
I contacted Ford directly several times and they maintain that the dealership can do whatever they please since they're independent franchises. They're going to hide behind that but I'm looking in to how to counter. Class action sounds about right
@ubeuonly 1 While I would never recommend anyone Even pay sticker for a car, I don’t feel you’re really upside down unless you owe more of a car then it’s worth. We had $25,000 equity in my minivan, so we will be fine.
I just tweeted this video and tagged Mike Levine Ford North America Product Communications director, do the same and hopefully we can help this couple get their car at MSRP.
I would have taken for the test drive - driven it into guard rails down both sides - taken the doors off and ran over them a few times in 4WD - filled it with water - then walked back to the dealership handing them a piece of paper with the coordinates where they could find it. I have one arriving in early October - if my dealer pulls that shit - my plan - is exactly as stated above.
Brian I just watched this video and I am so sorry you are going through all of this with getting this bronco . I can't believe how you and your wife are bring treated at this dealership especially since you put 19 years of service in there . I hope that you and your wife find a resolution to this issue soon and she is able to get the Ford bronco she built . I could tell how very excited she was and I was angry with you both and felt your emotions . I know how exciting it is to get a vehicle and that excitement should not have been taken away from your wife
My heart seriously goes out to you guys... An extra 10 grand was completely absurd back then a year ago when you took delivery. I'm a Ford employe soon to take delivery of my own Bronco WildTrak and with my A plan Ford discount my dealer can't do any markups. I wish I could have helped with my Ford discount friends and family plan, watching you tear up was very emotional.
Thanks, It was a total mess. We ended up getting it for $4k over, which still sucked. We drove it a year and still got more on trade than we paid with the mark up. Congrats on the Wildtrak!
If they bump the price just like that, I'll leave the Bronco right there. Anyways those Broncos are overpriced and with all the issues they are having, I would keep the Tundra. I learned long time ago that you NEVER buy first gen vehicles. Went thru one of those and it was nothing but trouble.
Definetly do not buy a first gen vehicle from german or US brand.honda and toyota maybe.I bought the first gen 2010 Honda crosstour and never had a prob--I even traded it in last year after 10 years and every button was just as tight as the day i bought it.I bought a 2020 Stinger--waited the 2 years so that KIA could work out the kinks.Even on the forums and JD all the probelms with stingers are on 2018 and some 2019--but 2020 and above have green ratings all the way around.
There was a published list put out by FORD listing all dealerships that DID NOT apply any Dealer Markups. And everyone had the option to swap dealerships.
She ordered the car and the dealer raised the price at delivery? It's my understanding that before the dealership will order the car... #1. If you're financing they will check your financing to make sure that everything is in order. #2. You and the dealership have to agree on the selling price of the car. #3. Buyer and seller sign a contract #4. Dealer orders the car. #5. You wait for delivery of the vehicle. #6. When the vehicle is delivered you pay the amount that was agreed upon in the contract. Did you sign a contract? Was the selling price of the vehicle included in the contract?
Thanks for the video, Brian. I reserved a F150 Lightening through Moon Twp about 6 weeks ago…. I’ll be heading over there tmrw to change that to another dealer and let them know why they can get f!@#ed… onLy reason I chose them was bc you and Mike seemed to get treated well. That just went out the window. If they’re going to jack around a 19yr veteran of the company, what are they going to do to normal Joe, me?? What’s going to be my surprise markup when I go to pickup my SO $80k sticker “high-demand” Lightening…?? Luckily, they won’t have a chance to find out.. then they play the GM is on vacation card… what BS. What is this? The 1990s BS car buying experience. I thought we were passed that.
I have an Outer Banks on order with my dealer and I went through this exact question with them multiple times. I told them that based on my research if I'm able to find a Bronco here in the wild, which is possible, at least here in NorCal. However, IF I found a random Bronco in the wild, I would likely pay a Mark-up of $5k. Dealers are able to Mark-up some Bronco b/c roughly 10% of the Total Bronco stock are dealer vehicles they can sell, but 85-90% of Bronco are direct order. But, some of those orders will fall through and those dealers can then sell those Bronco's for a Mark-up as well. BUT, if you Reserve online, and wait for your order I was told that I would be guaranteed MSRP. I was told this by multiple sales reps and multiple dealers, but all of this was in California. I've also found similar language on various Ford Reports and some of the internal memo's that have came out recently. So if you wait for your specific order and they still attempt to charge you a Mark-up... Even a $5k mark-up you can REPORT that Dealer to Ford. They will LOSE Inventory Allocation and Ranking by doing stunts like that. Some dealers will still do that, even knowing that they will be placed on probation or lose allocation... But, you shouldn't even have to pay the additional $5k you offered. I would report them to Ford, if you haven't yet. So sorry to hear about this terrible experience. If I heard it right and you really worked at that very dealership for 19 years, that's absolutely disgraceful. They should be ashamed.
Good to know… I received my bronco in late July… I did end up paying 4K markup on my order… and that’s with dealing with a sales manager. Even though when I made my deposit I was quoted MSRP. I love my bronco but my experience with this dealer has definitely taken any future business away, at least from me.
I live in California and just today my dealer told me there was a $25,000 markup on my bronco. They didn't even do me the courtesy of telling me a week in advance just completely blindsided me. I called Ford and they told me the only way you can guarantee the price is by signing an a written agreement with the dealership. Which of course I didn't because they make the process for ordering and reserving so difficult that you're just happy to receive your printout when it's finally over. But like you I asked and they all said to a t that the only way to get the vehicle without a markup was by ordering. Why would I pay $25 g over the sticker price after waiting 8 months when I could have taken a vehicle on the lot that was only marked up by 15k??
It is absurd the prices of cars now! Car manufacturers says it's due to inflation, the problem is that We are not getting payed accordingly to inflation!
Cool prize pack! I’m not going to be doing any dealing at Moon for sure! First time seeing your channel. Nice to see another western PA RU-vid channel. -Chad
I feel really bad for you guys. My grandfather also worked at Ford. And I’m a little upset at how they treat family. I’m also looking to got one as well, so this is disturbing to me
The Bronco I'm most excited about is the 2dr one with the big wheels and manual transmission, but definitely not if the dealerships pull that kind of crap..
I have a friend at the local Ford dealership and she had one come in that the customer backed out of. It did go for a $6000 mark up. But she did specifically tell me that if we order one, there will be no mark up.
I’m in the San Fernando Valley in CA and they are marking up 25k. TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND. I got a previous Ford at Galpin Ford and just to see how the dealers aren’t even trying like… it left me baffled. That and they refuse to haggle with the 25k. I went with Sunrise Ford in NoHo and I got two different people confirming I’ll get it at MSRP. Seriously hope I don’t go through what you did.
$25k is crazy! Most dealerships were selling customer orders at sticker, I just picked the wrong one! I have another one on order that will be at sticker. Going into production next week.
@@PIPSBURGHVIEWS black diamond, Sasquatch, towing, 2.3, soft top, mid package. I was so stressed worried they was gonna done some sort of shenanigans but luckily everything went smooth.
Im sorry but you needed the email from Ford that stated your MSRP is guaranteed. If you didn’t get that it’s difficult no doubt. I sat down with my dealership and they told me they would honor my MSRP because I had that communication from Ford…plus I’m a hard ass.
If you could wait just a couple more years, you will be able to purchase under MSRP and most of the first year bugs will be worked out. I know it is exciting to purchase now, but....... I remember when the dodge challenger came out and dealerships wanted 20k over for first year model. I waited 2 years and got it below MSRP plus got MOPAR bucks of 2k for upgrades. I still have the car and now almost 12 years old. Anticipation and researching is a lot of fun too. After you receive it and drive it for a few years, the excitement goes away and will look back and wished you would have not paid the extra money. Remember when the plymouth PT cruisers came out! Regarding the dealership, not very nice of them when you ordered it!!
I completely understand and agree with your comment. I originally ordered the Bronco solely for RU-vid content. People don't really care to watch much after the car is a couple years old.
Heard from a retired salesman , they don't know the cost of the vehicle just the owners know ,and you can get any where from 5--8 thousand below sticker and they still will make a profit. So if you pay above sticker your getting screwed.
So wait, you guys ordered the bronco for a specific price and then went to pick it up and theyre trying to charge 10,000 more? I would sue them for false advertising and also prolly never buy another vehicle from them ever again.
Not all dealerships are doing markup on ordered Broncos!! Yes the chip shortage is affecting markups on incoming vehicles that are not direct orders which should be expected because of the current state of the auto market.. Don't want to pay for a markup order your vehicle directly and get the quote initially promised before committing to an order.. Simple way around it Now is a great time to trade in for top market value!
All the ones I talked to were selling the ordered ones at sticker but marking up everything else. I did order this one but didn't think I needed to sign a contract due to my relationship with the dealer.
Subscribing because I gotta know how this turns out. You should blow them up on Twitter this is insanity. I understand markups for all of us who don’t have one built but I’ve never heard of a dealership doing someone dirty like this
Ford CEO Jim Farley is considering going direct to customer, as posted online. These dealers are trying to survive with reduced inventory but $10k is absurd. Good luck in future purchase. Broncos are hot commodity, but really not sure of their reliability based on research of EcoBoost engines.
This is absolutely the biggest reason he is going direct. When we bought this, inventory wasn’t nearly as bad as it is not and they still tried to bang for $10k over. This is what ended up happening. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-U83p8Io79y4.html
When I went to order a Bronco they told me I’d have to pay an additional $3K for just the base 2 door with soft top. So the vehicle would have cost $36K. I said bye and bought a Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited Sport S. I spent more money and my Wrangler had way more options. Jeep wasn’t playing games like Ford.
It depends on the vehicle and dealership. They are still charging over sticker for the TRX and 392. They also did it when the Gladiator came out. Congratulations on the new Jeep!
Sorry it went down like that. Things are nuts with the chip shortage and all of the delays. I can check and see what we have coming in and what they’d do on price if you like. Our Ford store is in Beaver Falls.
I have been back and forth with my local dealer . They wanted $13k over MSRP 😂, mind you I have purchased/leased 10 vehicles from them and sent them countless customers. I'm done with them . I found a list of dealers that aren't marking them up. I would never pay over MSRP for a mass produced vehicle. Never.
How true is that list? I ordered in July 2020 and it arrives this Friday. The list has my dealer here in Hawaii on it as not one to mark up but I’m still bracing myself for the worse 😞 I went to dealership and saw display one marked up for $9,995.
Not true u check out lumber prices lately or the price people are selling homes for or what gas goes for these days this is what you get when you don t have a president running the country I mean there's Joe but not sure he counts
I would walk away and tell them I would never buy another Ford or Lincoln ever in my life. Nor would any of my family members. They are not supposed to charge a mark up on ordered Broncos.
I watched your other video. I'm glad you got the car you wanted. I've always held the position of refusing to pay over MSRP for any car, but in your situation I would then not have a new Bronco. I probably would not have called them back if they had insulted us with a $10k ADM. That acronym shouldn't even exist. Seeing/hearing your wife so distraught over the markup was terrible. Sorry she went through that. Working with dealers is such a soul-crushing process. I may have missed it but I'm glad you didn't cover the financing and extended warranty exercises they pull on people.
The dealership looks like its going out of business with the current vehicle shortages. The sad thing is they are trying to jack the price on you after the deal was done. Greed and a shortage of product to sell is no excuse to rip off a customer. We always use to say one happy customer tells 10 people, an unhappy customer tells 100. I think this is a prime example of this saying. Good luck with it.
@@socalrenegal9409 That email guaranteed that the MSRP would not go up while deliveries were delayed. It did not guarantee that dealers would sell at MSRP, unfortunately
@@BudgetBronco This is taken from the email: Offering price protection to all current Bronco order and reservation holders (as of March 19, 2021). This will ensure you will not see an increase in the MSRP if you receive an equivalent 2022 model year Bronco. You see, at the time Ford didn’t know how long it would take reservation holders to get their Bronco, so they issued a price protection across the board. People started letting their reservations go and switching to different builds. It didn’t matter for the ones who made no changes, their still was a price protection on the MSRP. Ford is very strict on the dealerships so this guy and his wife need to file a complaint against the dealership and get their MSRP as promised.
@@TucoJames-qn3iv interesting, we are happy with the looks. I would have to spend $70k plus to get a comparable Defender and as a tech for 24 years I have learned that Land Rovers are some of the most unreliable and expensive to maintain vehicles on the road.
I understand your dilemma. If it wasn't something that your wife had ordered herself, I feel pretty confident that you would have told them where to SHOVE IT!
i worked for a FORD DEALERSHIP in Scotland a long time age ,reps from FORD USED TO VISIT ABOUT EVERY 2 MONTH . bosses always on edge as 3/4 black marks could cost the Franchise. tell them to stick it ,COMPLAIN TO FORD and slag them on you tube facebook etc.
I talked to Ford and the local rep. There was nothing they could do about it. All they said was that I could file a complaint. Our story did get picked up by multiple national media outlets and they got a ton of negative press. Here is how it played out. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GzYLRNAkP6c.html
Ok…. I really like your Bronco…. Great color and options. However, I nearly died when I saw under the hood. Ok, I know I’m odd, but when I wash my trucks, I also wash and dry under the hood. The engine compartment is a mess from what the video showed. How can FORD expect us to keep it clean much less have a mechanic work on it. Hopefully Ford will clean it up on later model years. I’m guessing it will take 2-3 years to work out all the bugs.
@@PIPSBURGHVIEWS I’m old. Remember when the 60’s and 70’s broncos were new…. They were so simple, easy to modify and work on. I’m glad Ford is making them again. It should help push Jeep to improve the Wrangler as they really tend to “To 'rest on their laurels'”. I do have to say the Jeep engine compartment is relatively simple and clean.
Buying a brand new vehicle should be a happy time. This dealership ruined that. Fomoco needs to step in and stop this. It would look good on ford Corp if they stop these dealers from doing this.
Glad to see you got your Bronco ! Sorry to hear the dealer trying to pull a fast one on you and your family. I could understand if it was for dealer inventory but the Bronco was ordered under your name and I was wondering if you had a set price in writing beforehand then they tried to raise the price if so they would be liable for breach of contract. The Deal with the Tundra sounds like they were looking at a sweet steal and got greedy, especially in this Market.
Brian I would partner with Mike at Autovlog and put this dealer on blast, what a bunch of bull. The negative publicity will cost them way more the 10k they are charging.
I wouldn't give them a penny over sticker!!! That's a horrible business practice and the fact you worked there for years!! You should call the owner and if they charge you a penny over sticker then make a video about it so everyone knows what dirt bags they are!!!! If your wife wasn't so heartbroken you should have walked already!!! They are true scumbags!!!!!!!!
I wasn't planning to but there are a lot of stupid people paying up to $50k over sticker for these things. I am going to try and work something out for her sake.
F*ck Moon township ford! That's NOT business thats called greed my friend! And for a dealer that you worked for for almost two decades at, f them id go to another dealer. Very shortly these dealers will be getting a rush of vehicles when they finally get chips and they will have more cars/ trucks than they know what to do with. Unreal, wish the best of luck to you both!
Manufacturers need to stop letting this happen. There should be no up charge on a vehicle that was ordered and waited a yr for it to come in. Everything I want to buy lately is in shortage. How is the world this far behind. A lot of retail arbitrage going on creating fake scarcity
I’d go buy another Toyota my dude! Fords quality has gone way down hill in the last ten years. Pretty sure the motor will start rattling way before it’s paid off…
I am going to but the new Tundra as soon as it’s available. Oddly enough, it seems they worked out all the bugs in the 2.7L for now but only time will tell.
@@PIPSBURGHVIEWS You are wrong...if it was a Toyota, most smart people would think, great, they are getting a Toyota, a reliable vehicle. Instead, it is a first year Bronco that will probably spend more time in the shop than not.
We are still waiting on ours! We ordered ours in the first 1,000! But I'm not willing to go the soft top only option! It's a full wild track with full Sasquatch package, I checked every box! Hell how can you be building cars for over 100 years and cant relaunch a truck you built for 25 years?!!!🙄
Sounds like an awesome spec Mark! I originally reserved the Wildtrak but changed when my wife decided she wanted it. Wanted the hard top but changed to soft in order to get it sooner for RU-vid content. Planning to buy a hardtop in the future. I have no idea how the could have botched the launch so badly.
@@PIPSBURGHVIEWS on the issue of the 10k over the original price, just call Ford directly and raise hell, they will fix that issue as others have had that done to them. I worked for Chrysler during the Hellcat launch and witnessed all that first hand. On getting the hard top for your Bronco, that is probably never going to happen as my inside guy to Ford told me, if it comes out as a soft top, retrofitting it will likely never happen as the supply of hard tops will always be short due to the production line. We changed from the Area 51 to the Cosmic Blue since everyone has that color , even the Bronco Sports. I'm ordering a Raptor Bronco too, bit cant wait to see them botch that change as well! Love the videos, keep em coming!
@@markmay1655 thanks, I called them thee times and they said there was nothing they could do. I do hear stories of how they are stepping in now. I am sure they were tired of all the complaints. I plan to order the Raptor as well. My have to go aftermarket on the top, I think there will be some launched at SEMA.
@@PIPSBURGHVIEWS yeah that's possible. I know Ford bought the top vendor out since they botched the tops. Dont know why American companies dont understand that keeping it it all in house makes your headaches much less. They wont be taking deposits on the Raptor till 2023 from my inside guy says. So our 2021 is now a 2022
I watched these video's just to see the different experiences people are having with these Bronco's. I don't care to see what happens to people accepting the markup-it's so wrong and yet it happened to me when I went to put money down on the new C8 corvette, when it came in the dealership marked it up on me and guess what-I left the dealership with my money and they kept the car. IMHO you're grown you make the choice-too easy to walk away. I called Ford customer service 3 times about that and they said it would be illegal to switch the order to another dealership. We ended up getting for $4k over which still sucked. Where do you work?
I work for Freedom Ford and the customer is allowed to switch the dealership. They are onky allowed to do it once. Customer has to initiate it however, not the dealership that they are wanting it switched too.
@@kennelson6055 Well, I tried that and then I had to deal I wanted to switch it to reach out to Ford and they said no. It might’ve been too late in the game.
Yes that's probably true. If it was already delivered to the dealership that ordered it. My suggestion to everyone when you get the email that it's being built, reach out to that dealership and make sure it's MSRP, if not find one that will and have it transferred to that dealership. Once delivered it's too late.
This is depressing and criminal. They should honor the price. I gave up on Ford and went back to Toyota after constant bait and switch pricing. Would show up to dealer and they wanted upwards of 15K over their original asking price once I'm on the lot.
@@PIPSBURGHVIEWS Ford should stop selling cars to dealerships that engage in these practices. Unfortunately the corporate religion of worshipping the bottom line rules supreme.
just order another one and get a contract this time. I thought when you ordered a car you had to pay a down and sign a contract anyway? Good luck. $50K and 20mpg? stellar..........
If I had ordered another one, I would not have taken delivery until 2023. As an automotive RU-vidr it pays to be first. Also, it gets less than 20 mpg☹️
I'm running I to this same issue. One dealership is tacking on $10k. Another is jacking up a no refundable deposit, making you add a $2k "insurance" package plus $5k over. Yet another claims msrp is the final price. I'm hoping they are right. The FBI have also gotten involved down here in Tampa. There is some shady stuff going on with Bronco sales
@@PIPSBURGHVIEWS yeah, one dealership had their employees submitting fake orders. They would obviously be canceled when they arrived on the lot, then the dealership would add the extra charges. They are on suspension from ordering any more vehicles. It's insane.
