@doctor Eye Health Great video. I love your new glasses. I live in Glasgow Scotland so I am thinking of having a look when I need my new glasses at the end of the year. On a different subject. Please can you recommend a brand of non prescription blue light glasses? I have an astigmatism and I wear contact lenses. Now that I am working from home I spend at least 12 hours a day in front of my laptop and even with the brightness turned down my eyes start to hurt and I get headaches after about an hour. I do take breaks away from screen at least once an hour even if it is to just look around the room. I would be really grateful for your advice. Thank you. Hello Dr My brother have this problem I have a Question please do answer me . He get toxoplasmosis 6 months ago . Treated it with antibiotics. Recovered almost 50% of eyesight. Today he get 1 floater in the same eye. My question is Does the retinal scar after treating toxoplasmosis can cause retinal detachment ? Should i go with vitrectomy ? Thanks Dr

Very cool. Online glasses retailers are pretty cheap (usually) but to get the best vision I recommend getting the frame only online and then get the lenses from an in store optical as that will give you more options and better quality, and you will be helping out a local store. Win, WIn, WIn.

Wonderful glasses! As a guy in Scotland myself(I live in Edinburgh) I did already know about Banton Frameworks. They are wonderful on you. I saw your link on Instagram so took a look on here. I am a huge fan of Lindberg and even have a buffalo horn fronted frame with Titanium temples.My latest frame is by Feb 31st from Italy customised for me with titanium temples and a wooden front. I am a bit deaf so wear hearing aids so the temples are better if they are quite thin round the ears for me! Love your videos.

Most glasses today are made in China with few local exceptions to hold manufacturing costs down. There are a few eyewear manufacturers in the UK that make their frames local besides Banton Frameworks. Saville Row and Blackeyewear deserve honorable mention.

Panto glasses were designed in Norway by Optician Geir Sivertzen. A classic style and they have models on pantoglasses.com While the manufacturing is in China, the design is of Norwegian origin. Their heyday was in the 1950s and 1960s.

Great questions! This was a long process in the making. Many revisions and communication. Discussions about the product size, shape and materials so they they could be adjusted well once I got them. The frame feels great. Sturdy. A little heavier than plastic.

They have a Face Shape Guide PDF that can be downloaded for free with suggestions about what model they offer that best fits a particular face. I’m partial to the classic panto because its a universal fit for nearly everyone but those with a round face.

Wood frame glasses are scary at the lab. We have to break the lenses to get them out. The new lenses have to be edged in.

I was just wondering because I used to be a strictly contact lens wearer and always stay in the smallest frame possible, but strangely never thought of going round with frames until I started researching how what I can do to make my lenses the thinnest since I will be wearing my glasses more. It's giving me nightmares trying to get the right frame and lense. As a matter of fact I am trying out my second pair in a more round oval today and I hope I like them. I'm very self conscious of the thickness on the sides. I have the 1.74 high index and still looks thick. Any info would be greatly appreciated. God bless🙏🏽

Any tips on how to pick frames that fit properly? I feel as though the sales person will always say that a frame fits or that they can adjust it to fit just so that they can make a sale...

jjprentiss you need to add the bridge size and eye size and see if it is close to the distance between your eyes. Frame choice is important it can affect the thickness of your lenses if the frame is to big as well.

Banton offers a free Face Shape Guide to help people narrow down what frame and look to go for. They and other online eyewear retailers offer free Try It On programs were you choose a selection of frames to try out for five days to help you decide what you want to order later. Same thing people do in a brick and mortar store like LensCrafters snd Pearle Vision.

I know this has nothing to do with this video, but I wanted to ask a question about contact lenses. I recently just got my first pair of contact lenses as a sophomore in high school because I felt really insecure about my glasses, and I thought about ordering them online to potentially get deals and sales to save money. I have my prescription, and I luckily know how to read it because of you! (Thank you :) However, I recently found out that I had astigmatism even though my optometrist didn’t tell me? I found out by looking at my prescription and was surprised to see the words “for astigmatism.” I tried searching the contacts that they gave me online, and I could only find that the brand I had only sold the bi-weekly version in the exact same model as my optometrist prescribed me. My optometrist told me to wear them for a month, and now I’m a bit worried that they gave me bi-weekly lenses to wear for a month. Should I use the same brand and type of contacts they gave me and still wear the bi-weekly contacts for a month, or should I do some more research and try to find another brand that actually sells monthly ones? If you ever see this, thank you for taking the time to help people understand what’s going on with one of our most important senses, our vision!

That is a tough question. I have only tried online glasses from a few companies, but I am trying to do my own research on that same question. At this moment, I have had the best experience from Banton Frameworks (this video). Although studies have shown the accuracy of most online purchasing (around almost 60 percent) to be inaccurate. What I think is best, is if you want to order glasses frames online - it is still best to get the lenses fit in a local shop. That will grant you the best vision and accuracy.

I just got some prescription glasses from the internet and the experience has been mostly quite good. However the progressive lenses require me to tilt my head forward slightly to see things clearly at about 40 ft. The region that separates near vision from far vision in progressive lenses, what controls that? Was my near PD not quite correct or perhaps my far PD? Your channel is very enjoyable and I've been learning a lot about contact lenses (I've had less than steller experience recently with my contact lenses).I think I must be one of those people you mentioned who's extremely picky about his vision! Thank you!!!

Ah really good question! It sounds like it is less of a problem with the PD as it is with the optical center. A major issue with many online glasses is that they fail to address the optical center height. Based on where the lenses/ frame rests on the face, the optical centers can be too high or too low. Since you need to tilt your face down, it sounds like the optical centers are too high, which means your are looking slightly through the mid zone of the multifocal and getting too much plus at distance. The frame could maybe be adjusted to fix this but they could also result in the frames not fitting correctly or change the effective power of the lenses. Best to take them into a local optical shop to see if they can adjust them to work better for you. Another point, online glasses are often cheaper, they do this by using older multifocal technology in their lenses. Like buying an old computer, newer lens technology works better and has less distortions as well as a more forgiving mid range zone.

I have a question & I know this is off topic but one thing I ABSOLUTELY LOVE & And is a passion of mine is colored contacts. I've been wearing contacts since I was a kid & I've REALLY gotten into colored lenses about 4 years ago. Now I won't lie. I'm not the most responsible when it comes to taking them out at night (i do need them to see my prescription is -3.50) now I've never been told I have an astigmatism but I've been noticing one of my lenses will sit perfectly in my one eye but the other will kind of shift and make it look like I have a lazy eye or like one eye is looking at u & the other is slightly looking elsewhere..)😳😩😤😣 this is making me wonder could this be caused by having an astigmatism & possibly needing a special lense ?? I'm EXTREMELY upset because I just ordered about 7 pairs of lenses which cost me almost $370 I am noticing in about 4 of the pairs that have smaller pupil holes & especially if the contact lense color is a lighter color as in a very light blue or very light green for example. Could this be from developing an astigmatism & thats what's causing one of the lenses to not sit EXACTLY in the "correct" place to make the colored contacts look real? I'll be SO upset if i have i have to purchase them all over again for the same price in the same colors just bc i have to enter the numbers for the astigmatism...

A good deal stronger than mine. Upgrading the lenses makes sense at that point and I suspect his vision isn’t going to get significantly worse and he can get away with lifetime glasses. People who have weak eyesight to begin with aren’t going to see much of a loss except after 40 both reading as well distance vision become affected and around that time ODs switch patients to progressive lenses so a lot of people still have both the first for indoors and the distance for outdoors.

Any idea why my contacts are taking so long? I went to get my yearly eye exam and asked them if i can get contacts (im a first time contacts wearer) its been a month and they havent called me yet. Any idea why?

My guess is custom-made glasses are very expensive. I desperately need them because every time I go to one of those cheapo eyeglass places I am unhappy with both the frames and the lenses. They just can’t get it right.

shaam no they can shrink to the eye surface best to take them out first. There are nasty microbes even in tap water that you don’t want on contacts. If you do by accident wait 30 min to take them off to allow the contact to return to size. You can tear your eye if it’s tight.

When I see idiots paying $300 $500 or more for so called "designer frames" mass produced in China and see that a company in Glasgow is handcrafting them for a more than reasonable price, I remember the saying from P.T. Barnum about a sucker born every minute. Proves that nice things handcrafted in your country don't have to be unafordable, quite the contrary. Thank you for bringing this company to out attention you handsome man!
