It's a stunner, Nick, and it sounds beautiful. Other than the pickup configuration, it reminds me very much of an Ibanez JP20 I once owned.

Please pray for me so one day i can have my dream come true i mean to have a guitar of my own. Because over here in my country we don't have jazz guitars for sale. "It's too new". Exactly. I played in my hi-fi speakers for about 2 weeks by leaving the radio on playing music through them. I don't know whether there's an equivalent technique for guitars, but hopefully you're already getting a sweeter tone from your instrument. I've been living happily with my speakers since 1997, by the way.
@NickGranville
@NickGranville Год назад
For sure man, speakers totally need to broken in and it makes a big difference. Guitars are the same, this instrument is just getting better and better with time.

Funny that you mentioned how it's not 'old' yet. I have a Gibson Chet Atkins Country Gentleman from 1990 for 2 years now. Until I received it, it was never played on but it didn't bother me at all. However, some of the hardware is falling apart and I even had to replace the tuning mechanisms, but in terms of playing it felt great to me! So I guess you just have to wait 30 years or so...
@NickGranville
@NickGranville 2 года назад
Yeah it’s funny how that works. I’ve played a few vintage guitars that were in pristine condition. They were just ok. Then I’ve played beat up ones that were used a lot and they were singing. All guitars need to be played in, and in the short time I’ve had this one it’s gotten better already. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good guitar to start with but all acoustic basic instruments get better once played a bit. Cheers

How do you get such a wonderful tone out of that guitar?I use a Ibanez LGB 30 with Thomann 11s and sounds great when unplugged but plugged in I can’t find that sweet spot! I go into either a Katana/ helix or straight into a desk👌

I asked the question what model is that Ibanez in one of your later videos then proceeded to go back and watch more. Now i have the answer. I know what you mean about too new. I guess I'll just have to just play mine as often as i can until it settles. I also have a Gibson from the 80s i believe. But i feel i cant play it at gigs. 😊👏🏾👍🏾
@NickGranville
@NickGranville 9 месяцев назад
Oh you should take that guitar to gigs. Be careful with it but I’ve always been on the philosophy why have it if you don’t use it. Air travel is a little different but it’ll be fine at gigs if you’re careful and you have a nice guitar to use. Cheers

Hi Nick, I thoroughly enjoying all your videos! I'm about to pulling a trigger on JSM100, AS2000 or AF2000 for my Jazz playing, but I'm very much curious to know what would you pick out of these three..? I even thinking of Heritage guitar with P90.. Your opinion will be huge deciding factor:) Thanks a lot Nick!
@NickGranville
@NickGranville 2 года назад
Thanks man! Of those the JSM100 would be my pick. Its a work horse tone machine. For the money it can't be beat, just my opinion though. All depends on what others guitars you have though and what you want to achieve e.g if you need an old school jazz tone then a big arch top with flat wounds is the way to go. But if you want a versatile guitar the JSM100 is it.
@JP-gt8qr
@JP-gt8qr 2 года назад
@@NickGranville Greatly appreciate your reply Nick! I was thinking of JSM100 as well but since Jazz Master, yourself recommend, I feel 100% comfortable ordering one without test driving it:) Also I’m just starting to learning a jazz but I honestly have no clue what to practice.. any good recommendations would be much appreciated!🙏

Nick, great video and playing! I recently purchased a new AF 2000 and I want to install a strap button on mine also. Where did you install it on the guitar; it appears on the video it’s on the heel of the neck. I wrote to Ibanez asking the same question and they sent photos showing it installed on the heel of the neck but on the back of the heel. They also suggested the side upper bout above and below the neck. They did not suggest the position you have installed. I’ve been playing for 50+ years and I know it’s each guitarist’s personal preference but IMHO I have only one attempt to make it right on a guitar of this stature. I’ve installed strap buttons on several acoustics and the widths of those bodies make a difference in comparison not feasible to imitate and the AF 2000. Most of my playing will be seated on this guitar and I want to use the strap for support as I am classically trained and that position requires a supported guitar. Thanks for your help!
@NickGranville
@NickGranville Год назад
Thanks! I took the guitar to my tech to install it and we both agreed we liked it better on the end of the heel of the neck, rather than the back of the heel. I got him to do it so it is really straight and won’t split in the future (probably why they don’t install it at the factory). Cost me $30 to have him do it and that’s all good with me.

What does the $2000 difference between the AF2000 vs the AF95 consist of? I am unable to find this answer even at Ibanez. Solid Top?
@NickGranville
@NickGranville 8 месяцев назад
I’m not sure of the differences to be honest, but I’d imagine that info will be online somewhere. But usually it’s better hardware, better woods etc. With every guitar once you get past a price point (usually around $1000), then you pay a lot more for smaller improvements. But for me, it’s worth it. This is what I do professionally so the smaller gains mean i have an instrument which plays and sounds better (usually) and that’s important to me. Each to their own though, some people can’t justify it. I can say without a doubt this is a good value instrument though. Hope this helps?

according to their website it's 3&3/4 at max depth. I'm not sure what that is in metric, which is what I usually deal with (being in NZ) It's comfy but not too big. More info here if you want to check it out. Cheers Nick www.ibanez.com/na/products/detail/af2000_00_01.html
