People dont understand that the prices of things are never going back down. This inflation is deeper than we think. Those buying groceries are well aware that the real inflation is much over 10%. The increments dont match our income, yet certain investors still earn over $365,000 in stocks and assets. Wish I could accomplish that.

I can see you've never needed/ known ppl who needed council housing before. Because if you have been part of the system then you'd know how hard it is to find council housing and a lot of ppl are on the list without enough properties for them. By making it in to more bedrooms a family that can't find housing anywhere else now will have a home for their family. Lots of families live in shelters or hotels since they have no where to live. You sound quite sheltered or at least ignorant. it's very difficult to find 3 bedroom council homes. Yes the rooms are small but when you go from having no room to a small room you really appreciate that small room. a lot of kids never even had their own room. Pls do some research or speak to ppl in need.

total immigrants only calculate for 14% of the total uk population. immigrants are a massive minority still... the housing issue is just people are unable to afford properties people need to realise they need to skill up and increase their wealth also looking up north (burnley, blackburn etc) you can usually get a 2/3 bed for 100k you need a 10k deposit and monthly it'll cost you £450 a month

Thing to also look at is the bigger picture. I am old enough the remember being told in the 90s that immigration would increase our GDP hugely. Many years later our GDP hasn’t increased in line with population rise. The fact is we have taken in too many liabilities, too many unskilled people coming over. We need skilled people here who will contribute more than they take, by likely a factor of two, not the ones who require support and cost us money. Yian mentioned about how his mate is ruthless in business, we need that same ruthless approach to people coming here. Furthermore, if you increase supply of unskilled labour, the rates remain low. Which is why no one can afford to live now.

Strongly disagree I'm afraid. ALL the public sector is inefficient, slow and unresponsive. This renovation would have taken the council 1 Yr + and would have been done to no better standard. Private landlords have the incentive to get properties back on the market and full in as short a time as possible, saving the council money as they don't have to use emergency providers.
