They have the smoothest arc there is. A true generator, no diodes, no rectification. I take those carburetors apart and coat the bowls with POL15 gas tank sealer after you get it clean. No more rust from the cast iron.
I had to get mine like completely rebuilt in 2020. It cost like $6-7k but it was worth it. We had it running 20 hours a day a one point for like a month. We blew up 2 propane fired Miller bobcats the first 2 weeks at that job. It’s built a couple staircases as well, along with other stuff. Them things are money making machines. They use more gas than smaller machines but damn is it a good welder
great tip derb about the fuel bowl shut off very very crucial for us small businesses to be able to rely on our equipment without failure. Take care brother
Legend has it that Chuck Norris was using one and the machine knew it was outmatched and stop. Chuck Norris needed to finish the job and grabbed a rod in one hand and with the other he scratched his beard.
I miss my sa 200 but I did get a sa 400 powered by a detroit diesel. The 400 welds the same as my sa 200 did but weights 2100 pounds so it goes on my big service truck
Oh you got the 200 blues that’s right there ain’t nothing like it wait till you figure out how to roll the rack to your liking then you will really love it
Tons of better machines out there. But if you're willing to do the research and turn a wrench, you'll find these machines are very well supported by an enthusiastic user community and the aftermarket. I basically skip all the sewing machines at the dealership/distributor and their two-month repair backlogs, and I'm in the field welding. Yes they are limited, but you have a lot of workarounds nowadays. They are the ideal machines for rural settings where you only have yourself to rely on.
Yes and no. It has 3000kw of DC 110v. It only being dc means you can only run a small selection of power tools off it like grinders and saws rated for DC.
I’ve used them and yes, they stick weld great! But…, they’re sooo limited. If all you’re doing is pipelining, then it’s a great machine but for general rig welding, I don’t get it. A Lincoln 305G or whatever the 300+ amp Trailblazer is now is the way to go. If you’re doing a ton of arc gouging or running a lot of large diameter flux-core then get the Lincoln Vantage or the Miller Big Blue.
