My New LV Key Pouch - Smells So Bad! 🤢 

Thank you SO MUCH for posting this. I bought my key pouch last week and had the exact same problem with gaps in the bottom and the strong chemical/soapy smell. I was planning on settling since I’ve wanted this item over a year but decided to return it after seeing your video. The LV store I went to today had one in perfect condition (no gaps or smells) and it states “Made in France” vs the original one I bought that didn’t state any country. I hate to say the US production isn’t up to par but who knows... Thank you again!

Personally, I'm So HAPPY you returned this piece. Never settle. These items cost too much, PERIOD-T and LOUIS VUITTON really need to get there business in order. Sad to say, the issue started with them but can only and WILL ONLY End with the buyers. Thanks again.✌🏾💕

I had the same issue with the pochette accessoires that I received today. The bag had the strangest smell that I've never come across with my other bags. The zipper looked to be in terrible shape as well! I just posted a short unboxing of what it looks like. Enjoyed your video!

I have it in monogram print and it doesn't have the hole. i have it for 2yrs now and the zipper pull already start to tarnish. anyhow i love it because it is compact and fits a lot plus the key chain is a plus. Thank you for sharing! 🥰

I purchased a LV belt about 1 year ago I hardly ever use it and keep it inside its dust bag and box well today when i took it out it had a really bad smell a stench so horrible and I just dont know why. I had it airing all day and the smell is slowly going away question is how should I store this belt? Quality just isnt there anymore.

I just came across this video with perfect timing. I was lucky enough to order a pochette metis off the LV website (standard mono version) and received it today and was super excited that it was Made in France. The bad part is that it too has a weird smell. In this case it seems to be coming from the interior and not the canvas. None of my other LV items have ever had this issue either with being made in USA or made in France. I understand how lucky I am to have gotten a MIF bag, but I'm also so conflicted.

Mine also has an odor. It smells metallic. Like really old coins/copper change. Its definitely very very unpleasant. I don’t like it but its too late to return now :/ I definitely did not notice it when I first got it. Or maybe I did and just thought it would go away with time... Well it didn’t. Mine also has a gap on the bottom stitching which concerns me. I should pull out the box and card and see where it was made. Thought I was the only one. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Got my DE cles today too and it has a weird smell as well. I’ve been wishing for this as it’s always out of stock so I decided to just keep it instead of returning. Quick solution to get rid of odor: 1 spray of your favorite Jo Malone perfume. Now it smells divine. 😊

Hi! I just subscribed to your channel today. What drew me to subscribe was your soothing voice and tone, practical/smart thinking, and your beautiful nails! I was scrolling through your videos and saw this one and clicked right away bc I had bought the LV Clapton backpack but returned it immediately bc of the chemical smell. I was incredibly stunned & disappointed that this was an issue for a luxury item. At the time, I tried searching online to see if anyone else experienced this odor bc I wasn’t sure if it was ‘me’ & I was being crazy or if it was a legitimate issue with their canvas pieces. I really couldn’t find any one who had this issue until now. 🙌 I went to return it though and the client advisor said they have never heard of that complaint before and they couldn’t smell any odor from the bag. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Thanks for the informative video!

Same thing happened last 2 I bought , both of them you could see sunlight through the bottom. Both smelled pretty bad . It's like almost all the new Keychain wallets are like this now.

Hi!! Just saw your video and wanted to share. I had someone pick up this same beauty in noir in Paris for me literally 3 months ago. Mine is made in France and I just checked my stitching and absolutely no seams or holes or gaps. In fact the seam is sewn so tightly that the extra piece of fabric is folded into the inside. I absolutely agree even though I’m not a stickler for where it’s made this piece and my vintage LV both made in France ‘feel’ better. Hope this might help.

Oh wow!!! I see the gaps in the stitching!!!! I agree that Made in France is better. Sigh. I miss the workmanship from the past. I would return it too. I always wondered what to use my CHANEL pouches for. Great idea to keep keys from scratching the inside of bags!! Yes. A key cles from LV should last forever. I smell them too!!!! I had the cles in damier ebene and returned it last year because it had a strong stinky chemical smell. My cles in monogram has no smell. I was in LV in Neiman's just the other day. I wanted to try and get another cles in damier ebene. They had two and they both smelled sickening strong with a chemical odor. I have never had any other LV with a chemical smell. My CA didn't offer any explanation on the bad smell. Wonder why it would just be the damier ebene and not the monogram with the bad smell.

I purchased my cles a few weeks ago and same issue! Had a horrible lingering chemical smell and I could see through the bottom. Also there was a slight dent in the canvas. It was a made in the USA piece. Went back the next day! Was lucky enough to find another online that arrived yesterday. Made in France, no chemical smell and very tight stitching! Never settle, these pieces aren’t cheap. And with USA vs MIF the proof is in the pudding I guess 🤷🏾‍♀️

I had the same issue mine smelt a weird chemical smell...and it was made in France!..but because everything eles was 100%perfect,ie the stitchen inside was perfection NO NO gaps at all!!!and i have held it up to the sun light several times and nothing... also i the outdide stiching is not visable no pulling on canvas which made me happy all the flowers ect lined up so yes no fault in the pouch only the smell😳so i decided to kerp it and after about a month i guess the smell had gone completely..So im happy i kept it im so in love with her❤ Thankyou for sharing...

My made in France pochette metis in reverse also had a bad chemical smell. After that and the bad quality of my Palm Springs mini (also made in France!) no more LV for me!

my key cles didnt smell but my rosalie smells like the scent you are describing! its a made in spain piece and has a almost sour(?) smell to it. i had it for awhile and the smell still has gone away!

My key pouch is now starting to smell. At first I thought the smell was coming from inside the pouch but it’s coming from the hardware. Any suggestions to get rid of the smell?

My pochette Metis stinks too idk what to do. I've tried to put dryer sheets into it and even left the bag by the patio door to let the air out... still stinks. Anyone has this issue?

Just wondering if the :checker: line up from one side to the other? I just got a men’s one, the grey color, forgot the name of the color, but the front and back checker doesn’t line up .....

I am so sad that this key pouch has an odor....I have a kles made in 2014 from France, and it too has the openings in between the stitches, but there is no odor, other than the smell of coins. Please keep us posted on your journey with this item!

It's good that you have returned it. Other than the zipper, gaps and smell issues you mentioned. I see a bump at the side of the cles where the LV logo is. The other side is straight. But the side where the logo is, it's not straight and there's like a bump. You can see it from your video. Thanks for making this video, so that we as consumers can make a wiser choice.

Would u mind to share a little about your return’s experience? How long did it take for them to refund for you? I had to cancel one item I ordered from LV because they cannot fulfill it, they sent me an cancellation email but didn’t say how long does it take to refund for me

I got mine january 2021 monogram made in France online sent to store for pick up. No holes no smell. I just got the checker one today online order, made in USA with holes and smells like glue. Returning immediately!

I do not blame you for returning the key cles! Definitely LV needs to know of this unacceptable issue!

I just got mine yesterday. The first thing I noticed was the smell too. Mine was made in USA. Mine is also see the hole on the bottom too. The stitches on the top is also not straight. Such a bummer. I waited for so long to get this and now these happened:(

I’ve just received my Speedy Damier Ebene and it has the same strong chemical smell! I’m not sure I want to return it. Can anybody tell me if it goes away and has long it takes? Pleeease, help me decide! 🙏🏻🙏🏻

My 6 key holder smelled gross as well so I returned and now I’m afraid to order anything else. Even my hands smelled like the chemicals after touching it 😝

I ordered my monogram key pouch from the LV website on 01/28/20. When it arrived it was stamped Made in France. I also noticed the bottom doesn’t have any of those holes from the stitching. The canvas is like folded in and completely sealed. I’m only mentioning this because it was a recent purchase.. so I don’t think it’s just how they are made now.

I noticed the same things - stitching gaps and the smell on my brand new cles - I bought it last year.. and I thought the smell would faint away.. but I still can smell it.. it bothers me a lot.. I wish I had exchange mine since day 1..

Hi! I just did an unboxing of the monogram Key Pouch! I’m lucky that that one was made in France and stitching is very well. The first monogram key ouch I saw was made in the u.s. and the stitching was horrible!

I know this video is old but i got a palm springs mini made in spain and it smelled so bad and so strong, i asked literally everyone to smell it it probably smell like formaldehyde like in lab when you dissect a fetal pig, its the chemical they soak in it so it is clean

Oh my gosh! I know this is an old video but I just received a canvas bag which I bought online to beat the latest price increase and smells so chemically! Was convinced it was fake upon opening but have changed my mind. It’s a ‘made in Spain’ piece, beautifully thick monogram canvas and the craftsmanship is fantastic but it also has a date code, so it appears to be one of the first pieces made 18 mths ago. I think it’s sat in storage for so long that it hasn’t been able to breathe (like me when I opened it 😆) and the treated leather accents also smell so strong. I’ll leave it to air for a week and if no change, will have to exchange. What a pain for us all who’ve had this happen.

I’m not really sure why some items say where it is made from and some don’t. My brand new key pouch made last week have made in France printed on it. And I saw a RU-vid video where the reviewer had no made in print on her new Pochette Felicie. Anyways, I love the Key pouch, I have 3 of them. All my Damier Ebene pieces are made in France and they all have that smell that you described. I personally like the smell, it reminds me of high quality plastic lol. I imagine the smell is from the coating.

I would return it if not completely satisfied. I'm considering returning both of mine that I just recently bought over the past 2 weeks. I got lucky the LV boutique had one in the azur and the other one was ordered online thru the LV website. The threads showing on the outside corners and the spaces between then on the bottom is just poor quality. I would be embarrassed and feel foolish knowing I purchased 2 for $205 each with these issues. I would also highly recommend everyone to call the LV customer service and ask for a supervisor to address the issues. The company needs to know about these issues so they can take action. I'm also considering returning the Speedy 30 I also just bought (LV online website). Sigh....so disappointed.

Bummer I just got my trifecta with my Neverfull today :( my Ebene gm smells so chemically . My speedy B 30 ebene or clay and wallet don’t smell 👃 My mono doesn’t smell frm usa or France . So weird. Also I wish I knew where chip was in my purses .

One of my mini pochette in DA smelled bad too. I returned it. Smelled like bad old wet cardboard.

So I ordered mine online a week ago and it came in today. Mine does say made i man France and does not have those see through holes at the bottom. But the smell is terrible though. I’m going to air mine out before I actually start to use it! I hope you find one that was made in France. Because the quality of mine is beautiful except for the smell.

If you take a sheet of wax paper and rub it on the zipper.. it will help it be very smooth!

These are notorious for snagging at the zipper I have 3 dif ones & the monogram for some reason Is a bit worse off then the damier for w/e reason being. Honestly these are So pointless lol yet I had to get them all 😂 for these, it's totally okay to go for the fake. Becuse they look exactly the same ! High end fakes anyway . It's definitely close.. so anybody who sees this! Go for the high end reps with this item they are exactly the same besides the shine on the zipper. The ones from the store snag & it isn' Worth it !

I heard that if it is “made in usa” they have bad quality so just return it..

Had to exchange mine three times due to the zipper snagging and being able to see through it or for it being so thin you fold in half like paper and the last one I got had a terrible chemical smell LV needs to step it up I wont be getting anything from them again so disappointed

I hate to say it, but I bought a replica of the key cles for under $20, and the quality is much better than this. No smell or holes in the seams, zipper is smooth. I’ll spend the $$$ on their bags, but over $200 for a canvas coin pouch with no leather?

LV canvas is cotton that has been treated with a plastic derivative PVC which I’ve heard off gasses but also have heard that is doesn’t. PVC has also been called the poison plastic my guess what you’re smelling is the chemicals from the pvc which is kinda weird because in the past LV items never put off a chemical smell which makes me wonder if there’s been a change in who and where they purchase their PVC from and what’s going on there. I know you’re not keeping this cles but if you get another one with the same chemical scent I would air it out as much as possible before you put it in your bag. Just a side note pvc has also been known to cause respiratory issues in children and those with already compromised breathing issues like asthma. So crazy how these days we have to be so aware of what we bring into our homes and around our families something as benign as a hand bag or slg has the potential to make is sick smh

One sure key to spotting a fake LV product...is the chemical glue smell. Authentic LV products will not have this smell. Unfortunately, you can't smell it online.

They are selling knock offs, usually it’s goods produced in China that is making knockoffs.

I would return it as well what a shame LV needs to hear of this bad quality regardless of where it’s made.

Honestly, LV is shit quality. If you look at their prices it’s just for people that don’t know what to do with their money. Maybe back in the day the quality was there. But now it’s just mass produced crap.
