I love the old fiberglass RV's. no worries ever on the body or roof. I Have worked at a lot of Van and RV conversion shops and we even owned our own shop for a while. Nothing is better then an all fiberglassed unit! Nice!!!!
You are a consistent man Justin. You know what you want, and never settle for anything less. Love the new rig! I don't know why Dodge (RAM) hasn't tracked you down yet to be either a spokesperson, rig hunter, inspector or RV interior decorator. You know your stuff :-)
I really like this one. The two things i would change would get a two burner stove instead of a four which you will never use and a single deep sink. I have a small house and went for the single bar sink and dishes became nothing to wash and freed up more counter space. Believe me it made a difference. The shower and bath are super. Best one yet!
sweet! that is one pristine unit. I have an 88, not a wide body, not as pristine on the outside. you just inspired me to go and get a new paint quote, you will love the durability of these vans. you have a gem of a vehicle and the greatest condition for it's age.take good care of her, you'll enjoy her for many years to come. have fun!
Another Ram Van Fan here. 2001 5.2 L Roadtrek. 128,000 miles, almost all travel miles. Plan to keep for a long, long time. Good luck with your "new" purchase.
Well my friend, 2017 couldn't start out with a bigger bang than this for you. Looking forward to your improvements. You've not failed to surprise us so far. I will enjoy the process.
That's a "deal" for a low miles class B. Glad you found what you wanted! The bathroom is awesome. My customizing suggestion is to make all the marker lights into strobes so you can enjoy while parked and rocking out and it also looks great and grabs attention if your parked on the shoulder of a highway for any reason. I drive a truck and have noticed a few owner/operators have added random pattern white and orange strobes to the marker lights on top of the rear of their trailers. Whether their broke down or just pull over to read a map or take a nap, you can see those strobes nearly a mile away.
I'm with you on the Dodge Ram Van. I'm on my 3rd. First two were the b3500 and I now have a 97 Xplorer b2500 w/5.2 liter. I like the b2500 best of all...lots easier to drive and maneuver feels more like a car than a van. Tires are a lot cheaper on a 2500 chassis....41 psi vs 80 psi on a 3500 chassis. Those Islanders are rare. I just saw one for sale in Ca. recently and it sold quickly.
Crazy, I finally found someone have one! I got one too, 1994! I wish I could put pictures here. This Rv it's a bomb proof! I'm very, very happy with this model and ALL the amenities come with. I just wish was 4x4, but I'm considering lift this van.
Dude you scored on that thing! Drove across the USA in a 95 conversion Ram with my parents back in the day they are great vans and I love the front console table that flips out! Major score!
Love your new class B Dodge! I too, recently purchased a class B Dodge a couple months ago. I look forward to seeing your improvements as it will give me ideas on my (new to me) van. Great find Justin...
It's just shocking what these cost brand new , we have to figure you got a great deal buying it used and still in great condition ! Good job with all your work on it !
Justin great find there. Myself have a leisure freedom 2a 2003 ram van, it's awesome...looking forward to your remodels....storage is great in a class b.
nice! I like it, hard if not impossible to find this sort of rig here in Arizona, everyone is all about 5th wheel trailers pulled by obnoxious lifted trucks haha I personally have an 89 ford econoline sportsmobile camper van (not living in it its just a hobby vehicle) but man I would love to find a wide body. As far as "e-begging" dont even let that rent space in your head man, you are providing a service with your videos, I would happily contribute to your van build because you have provided so much good information to me and so much enjoyment watching your videos. Looking forward to watching this one evolve!
You downsized from a Class-C to a Class-B. I went another route and downsized my Class-C. I dismantled the entire motorhome structure off my 1998 Fleetwood Tioga 29Z. Sold nearly everything that was reusable (windows, door, appliances, fixtures, holding tanks, and more...) I then spent $125 at a local auction and bought a used 72" double bunk aluminum sleeper cab. Once I install that behind the Ford E450 cab I will be installing a 16x8 flatbed on the chassis as well that I bought for $650 off craigslist. I can then carry my Jeep on the flatbed and tow my little 16' aluminum boat on my long ventures across the US. My years as an OTR truck driver showed me that I really don't need all the amenities of home to survive on the road for months at a time. Just a roomy sleeper cab...
Ditto on the cab review. My Clipper is a '78 and it is exactly the same layout, only in '70s burnt orange 😜 We just took ours (classC) and left it at the Mississippi coast from the West around your area. Has about the same MILES as yours 😏 and we miss it, even though it's only in storage while we get our bearings. I can highly recommend the Patreon! Wife's channel is ours, and it's so NOT ebegging, it's like getting the paid Pandora or Spotify, people get MORE than the free version. Good score, and congrats on the new rig. Hope to meet you on the road one day. We have a stop up there scheduled sometime, so soon we hope.
Congrats Man! I'm in my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Conversion . Looking into getting a Class B Ram here in Ontario... something like this or your old explorer would be SWEET!
Congratulations on your new RV. It looks great. Wife and I pick up a 2012 Pleasure Way on a Ford E350 chassis, 19'. The first thing that I noticed (I'm a retired auto mech) that you should perform on your high speed RV, is to refurbish your head lights! Safety!!!! Again Congratulations!! Travel safe!
LOL! I knew you would back to a van. Once a vanner always a vanner. It's in our blood. I went from a van to a Class A back to a chevy RoadTrek (21'). Welcome back to the van community, I love your new home. LOVE that huge bathroom. That's the only thing I don't like in my RoadTrek, its in the hall.
I just love it! I have a 1998 Dodge Ram Van Conversion very basic compared to yours. But like you, I am a Dodge person-they just seem so solid compared to all the others. So Happy for your New Home!
Nice van. I like the taupe in the seats and accents. Take a look at modern decor and see how many use taupe, black, white, and a minimal amount of an added color.
I loved Dora, but I think this is the best van I've seen you in yet. Congrats on getting the new year off to a good start. I started watching you almost 2 years ago and wanted to move in a van and do some traveling but everyone said it was impractical because I couldn't make money. So I became a truck driver and did just that. Thanks for the inspiration Justin
Back in 2000 I was in Calgary living in a camper that was in the back of a truck I had went out and bought a generator for lights it was a two stroke I got it in a bargain flyer kijiji wasn't around. Now I lived outside of where I worked and it was well lots of steeling went on! me being form a small town in Quebec didn't see steeling like this! aneywayThis little generator was so loud I thought I can't run this! I went out and bought a 1000 Honda inverter suitcase power system wow love this little unit it ran and if you were 30 feet away you couldn't hear it! This little unit can run a full fridge freezer coffee maker lights ect. it has a charger for batteries and if you want you can buy a separate unit and plug them in together. So I went back home to Quebec where my parents are and eventually came to NB. My father loved the little inverter so I left it to him and bought another one for myself down here. It basically paid for itself as it saved our food and got us threw several power outages. I recommend it to anyone doing RV-ing It burns about $3.00 Gas per eight hours if your unit doesn't have a gen I recommend this. They run about 1200.00 with tax but I got mine for 1000.00 when I bought it here. Here is a link to see them! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p-bMaFt1-08.html
Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! This is the type I was hoping you would get. I see so much potential here. The older vans are so much better use of space than the newer r/t's. I don't understand why the different companies went to the newer floorplans. This is so much more livable space. Guess the f/p will replace the closet. Congrats to you and Emmy on your new home. Peace.
At first glance I was somewhat skeptical. The car is smaller than the previous one, but seems to be interesting. Sometimes less is more. The double side doors are very cool in any case! A V8 in a relatively small vehicle is already crazy! We have 4 cylinders, a maximum of 6 cylinders diesel engines (for bigger RV!) available, and even with the whole thing then quite expensive in the maintenance. V8 petrol does not go with us at all. That would be much too expensive. This can not make a sow. And yes, everything is still mechanical and no software and no computers in the Dodge, is quite a good argument to buy an older car. Cool thing! :)
Awesome! Now everyone is searching RV Trader for the Islander. I know I did when you got the BT Cruiser. Anyway, just wanted to say hi, been subscribed for a while now. We really enjoy your content. mEow!
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice! I love that Islander platform. It will be a great jumping off point for your "creative touches". Coming back home to Dodge after the affair with Ford will be great. I can tell that you will love this rig! Congratulations!!!!! 😃 😃 😃 😃 😃 😃 😃 😃 😃 😃 😃!
Hey Justin What a Great Find man I am super happy for you and hope you have a ton of fun I can't wait to see the upgrades you do and hope you will show the engine at some point
Very nice! It has the same dash as my Ram Van. I love how the top of the doghouse console flips open to form a table/desk. Mine is a 1997 btw. Only thing I don't like is the mirrors, they always swing back on the highway. Hopefully, yours has the awesome 360 under the hood as well. Congratulations!
