Congrats! I've been a school nurse for 12 years and I love it! I work at a K-8 school and both of my children went there. It was wonderful being so close to them. School nursing is the perfect work-life balance nursing job. Hope it's going well for you!

Awesome! I just know this will be such a great decision for you. I had kind of a similar experience with hospital burnout my first year of nursing. I switched to outpatient pediatric dermatology and I honestly love it so much. The consistency, work life balance, the patients etc. I’m excited for this experience for you! ❤

I left L&D bedside in 2021 and went to school nursing. I LOVE it! I’m with middle and high schoolers. My most challenging student this past year was newly diagnosed with T1D. It took a lot of energy getting into a routine but now it’s not that bad. You’re going to love it!

Congratulations!! I'll be starting my 13th year as an elementary school nurse this August. I left June last year for a hospital job & hated it. Yes, the pay is not nearly as good as a hospital job, but with the time off you can't beat it. You will definitely get "Oh you're not a real nurse," but you see much more than people think. :)

Long time subscriber, first time commenter. I was a School Health Aide for almost a year! I loved it so much! After nursing school I am planning on doing school nursing because I enjoyed it so much! It can be a lot, but it is so enjoyable! Better hours and it’s nice to be free during the summer. You can always do resource somewhere for the summer and set your own schedule. I think you will do great! ❤

I have watched many of your videos over the past few years. Like you, I was going through similar feelings of pressure on myself, spread too thin etc. I quit working at a nursing home and took time to heal emotionally and have found a new job in primary care. The hours/ routine has been beneficial for my mental health and I’m sure you will feel that way too. (New nurses/ finding our right fit) :) it’s been a blessing to go to weekly therapy appts and I like that you mentioned that in this video. I’m happy for you. Sending you love and light🤍

Yay congrats!! I was kinda expecting something peds related tbh. But be ready to hand out lots of ice packs, kids love to visit the nurses office for that. You also become their personal therapist and you start noticing a trend. I did half my peds rotation w/ a school nurse & saw how divorce/separation or domestic abuse would affect the children a lot. You see a lot of regressions, or them coming in saying their tummies hurt, feeling super anxious only to find out it’s bc of stuff going at home. The middle school kids are tough lol I was scared of them esp me being like 5’2 & most were taller, they’re also least compliant w/ their meds like their insulin so it’s a lot of parenting where you have to be like “hey what did we talk about last time” but I have no doubt the kids will love you! Can’t wait for your future vlogs

Can't beat the hours of school nursing and the summers off. My part of the world the pay is abysmal and the acuity is going up. Everybody thinks school nursing is mints and band aids but that is not at all true anymore. Best of luck to you on your new gig. I hope so much it pans out and you love it!
