Nice straight body. Not being able to see your cowl tag I can't be certain but most likely this was born a Impala sports coupe, not an SS. Looks to be from clues born a 327/250 hp PG car, probably Autumn gold 920, PS, PB car. The trunk panel trim along with the dash trim is Impala sport coupe not SS engine turned trim. Good Luck, deserves a complete restoration.
Thanks for the reply. I did some research and if I am correct my car is a SS. My trim tag is 858-S which indicates it was a Saddle interior with bucket seats. The research I did told me that there were no SS cars with bench seats.. I know Chevy and other manufacturers did some weird things back in the day but the trim tag rivets are original to the car.
@@sethwright Glad you did some research. Couple things to mention, there was not a designation for a Super Sport on the door vin until 1964. You are correct, trim 858 is saddle vinyl bucket seats, which were only for a Super Sport. Impala Sport Coupes had a bench cloth seat. What puzzles me is the trunk panel and the dash trim are for a Sports Coupe, not an SS. Also I'm sure you're aware that those buckets are not correct. They appear to be from a '62 but it's difficult to tell from a video. Your engine turned side trim which is another clue is missing and you have an Impala quarter emblem instead of an SS emblem. The car is sixty years old if only they could tell us their story. I have loved '63's since I took my first ride in one at age five. I have owned and restored a Azure Aqua SS 4spd, A/C car for twenty five years and have competed in national Impala meets. It's great to see your generation appreciate them. Peace.
good job but to be definitively efficient, you should put grease everywhere. grease et the only thing very efficient against rust. put grease between metal and carpet, inside door, behind metallic bumper, under the vehicle, behind the repairs you can make (everywhere inside the body - hidden erea - instead of using paint), hollow areas (necessarily hidden, so no need to be aesthetic). For rear wings unreachable with a paintbrush, use an extender and poor old oil everywhere each year.Handyman Experience - 35 years. From france
Bud , clean up engine bay, frame rearend drive line motor and transmission. Leave patina if that yer jam , but the rest clean prep and paint to make sure yer bad Azz Patina Chevy , is completely sound and solid and the out side looks ,,,,,,, well you call it Patina . I’m old school , it’s surface rust !, !!!
Nah, not on this one.. It’s a budget build to an extent. Faster is on the road for right now the happier I’ll be. The interior will all be brand new from Ciadellas and that’s it for right now. Eventually it will be a frame of build but C10 is first.
I,m going to tell you a sad story, about a 63 Impala SS, My Brother own for 2 weeks, speed, It was a special 427 first year that motor came out, I have never seen another , He hated that car, He paid 300 dollars , He said it drove like a tank, He's a Moron, He disliked the car so much he junked it, Now that's a idiot. This was back in 74.I heard by the owner of the Junk yard sat there 15 years a Man bought that lived in NY its now in a Private collection.
