I literally bought one of these last weekend for sampling. The usb out is so convenient and allows me to play it out to my wifi speakers! Loving it so far

Does it play directly via usb? I didn't know that.

@@mpchead yeah! This was the main reason I bought it. As it seemed to be the easiest way to play to my HomePods. I started using open QuickTime player File> new audio recording > click the arrow > select USB AUDIO CODEC. That will then allow you to play through the Mac. I am now using an app called Airfoil which allows me to do the same thing but select all my HomePods as an audio output. I’m sure the same thing could be done for other WiFi speakers as well.

I have two (DJing) and they are solid turntables! Keep an eye out on the second hand market you can find them for steals. I got one for $60 because it didn’t have a power cord. Recently picked up a second one for $130! Just be patient and look often

Probably can find decent turntables at thrift stores or pawn shops. If people want to use it just for sampling.

Love my LP120. I don't DJ with it I just use it to listen to my records. I've had mine for a year with no problems.

Things are life savers, have one called “little bear” that is a tube unit to warm the signal up a bit. Perfect for the job

@@mpchead I ended up replacing the tubes that came with it with some vintage ones I found on eBay. Which were still very inexpensive. Works like a charm and warms the sound up quite a bit! It’s worth checking out.

ayooo I got one of these a couple of years ago and it's perfect. I was looking at getting the classic 447 stylus but they are so expensive. HOWEVER, ortofon release a clone that is actually a super good replacement is called the VNL or something along those lines.

Any super oem turntable will do good. They are all basically the same hanpin model with different chassis

Thanks for this! I’m the same way just need a turntable to listen to records and sample into my mpcLive 1. I was going to use my binary pt01 scratch but I think that’ll mess up my records in the long term so I’ll invest in one of these

This is basically a clone of the technics sl-1200. Absolutely couldn’t justify spending the extra in the SL-1200 when the audio technica does the job for a fraction of the price especially when paired with a high quality cartridge and needle. Had my eye on this one for some time now

The torque is really weak actually nothing even close to a 1200. Yea it looks like one but its lighter and weaker. I thought that same thing until I tried to scratch and do some dj tricks.

@@Major_FaimOfficial Yea it’s not recommended for those applications lol. But in most people’s sampling / hifi setup it’s perfectly adequate and is really good cost to quality ratio

Hi, I’m thinking of getting this for sampling as well. Does the stylus damage the records much if I happen to scratch so i can quickly get to different points in a section of a song?

I haven't scratched any record yet. You can always buy a better stylus if you want.

I use my Gemini PDT-6000 for sampling. And I still use m44 Shure stylus. I need to upgrade the needle one day.

I recently bought a pretty low end Numark DJ table (all these turntables like the Audio Technica are based off a generic Chinese model) and a Numark Scratch mixer, for sampling and scratching. I was sick of using my nice hifi turntable and amp for sampling, a huge hassle to change between 33 and 45rpm, slow to start and stop, using a big amp just for the phono was kind of a waste. And I can't scratch on that setup. I was skeptical about the sound from the 'cheap' Numark gear. But it's good. I guess the turntable and the mixer use the same phono preamp because they sound exactly the same when I recorded through both for a test. My hifi setup sounds worse in a lot of ways compared this much cheaper gear.

Bought mine roughly a year ago in hopes of learning how to scratch better but its not really up to standards in that aspect imo. Good for sampling n listening tho.

@@grandpaross in my opinion no it doesn't. Plus the platter isn't really sturdy. It's good for audiophiles and djing but actually scratching nah its not up to par. Especially for a beginner. That's my opinion I'm learning now. Can do baby scratch drops transformers. Basic scratches but anymore and the record just doesn't recover fast enough rotation wise.

I got the lp120 without the USB a year or two ago, because I didn't see the necessity for it.. maybe shoulda went with the USB 🤔

In my experience, the USB isn't worth it. If you're going to the trouble of buying a record and putting it on just to send it digitally to your PC anyway, you might as well just pull it up on Spotify and be done with it. If you've got rare records you want to archive (and no one else has done the same you could just download), then you would want a higher quality chain than a low end USB turntable to record it with.

can you use the usb to connect to the Live and sample that way? If so, is it a cleaner sound??

I haven't tried it but I don't think you can. you probably need the companies software to even be able to record the audio to mp3 on the computer.

yeah, i got that deck. seemed like a good bet. was hoping the usb would work on mpc but it dont...maybe in 3.0 lol. not much vinyl yet though, (hurry up come home ! lol why i no received yet? only 20 left.. is that from Qrates ?) also opinions on the pre amp removal people do to this deck ? they say its crap. but i always thought it a bit extreme.

Ive been trying to use the USB connection to go straight into my mac mini into Ableton but the signal comes in so HOT and I can't find a way to turn it down coming out of the turntable. If anyone has any ideas shoot em my way.

I'd try the usb first and see how it works or just use the turntable in Line out to send audio to the input of the audio interface.

Its hes best turntable because he has a link to his amazone shop... dont waste your hard earn momey, this dide doesnt sweat to buy his equipment, he tells you to buy a scrap un usable equipment... change all you want this table is noise and it refexts on the waveforms. This is scrap turntable.
