I was next to you washing my hands in the bathroom after a press screening of either C’mon C’mon or Dune. Didn’t say anything but just know I thought your jacket was sick
It’s in Queens but I can’t recommend The Museum of Moving Image enough. The exhibition and curation was great. I haven’t been to the recently opened Academy museum but this one is possibly the best film museum in the US. Also, they almost always screen movies on film.
I cant agree more. Momi is my favorite museum, but since covid it has been a bit empty since they removed some stuff. They did have a Kubrick exhibit recently that was so sick
@@raymondbabich6408 Momi has been one of my favorite museums in all of NYC ever since I was a kid. I remember they had a whole arcade there and my mind was blown that I was playing NBA Jam in a museum. As an adult, I lived around the corner and would always frequent.
where would we be in life without karsten's observations honestly. "he's like the joker but happy" "new york city is where they filmed elf" "timothee chalamet isn't cute in dune" is what keeps the world spinning
YES Thank you for the mention of the sounds of dune....they are amazing. I feel like a lot of reviewers have totally looked over it to talk about the visuals. Score is amazing, sound design is amazing. Loved it so much I have seen it twice already
As a New Yorker who's born and raised here, I can assure you that NYC is not the greatest city in the world, the people here are FAR from being kind and the subway system is total ass
Looking at the thumbnail up close on google images, I don't think it was meant to be taken as clickbait or believed-- it's just a really funny edit, I mean, Karsten's expression is super goofy and it's clearly fake, I don't think he was actually trying to hide it. The problem is, thumbnails are really small and I don't think any of us could tell when we initially clicked lmao
In regards to "Passing", I've been a fan of the book all through college. It is short, interesting, and very detailed. Definitely recommend. Interested in how it works on film.
I am so excited for Dune I really can't explain it. I have no relationship with the source material whatsoever, but the production has me hooked. Especially Hans Zimmer. This is a man who I think has been fairly criticized for monotonizing Hollywood sound along with his united artists record group, but Dune seems like it could possibly be the peak of his career. The man turns down Tenet, to choose not to work with Nolan, to allegedly invent new instruments for this one, which is amazing considering I feel like his past 3 year have been somewhat phoned in. repurposed
I went to NYC in August 2022 when they were showing Memoria at IFC Center. I wanted to go but we never went. Just as well, that was probably my only chance of ever seeing it.
can't wait to hear more of your thoughts on c'mon c'mon! it's my favorite movie of the year so far. got to see an early screening at the nashville film festival and absolutely adored it.
Man, I gotta say Karsten! Saying NYC is the greatest city in the world, allthough you have not nearly been in every city in the world, is a really unrelyable statement. Also: What has this channel become now? A city review channel, huh? I thought you would have enough integrity to stick to reviewing films, but I guess I was wrong! Despicable what this channel has become. That been said, good video, keep it up!
I just saw Hit The Road yesterday for LFF, it was great! Definitely best use of 2001 in a film. I love the family dynamic and how uncertain of where the road was leading.
