A tip for preparing for school if you don’t mind? I have my kids shower at night in the winter so they can have some extra sleep in the morning. We prepare snacks, school clothes, underwear and socks all at night so the morning is pretty quick. For hot lunch, I have Thermos food flask I put boiling water in for about 10-15 minutes then I microwave their food extra hot, pour water out then dry the inside of the flask before I put their food in and they say the food is still warm at lunch time. I hope this helps a bit to make school mornings slightly better😊

That's I what I do here in South Africa as well. During winter it's chilling cold so they bath at night in the mornings they just clean their faces, brush their teeth & they are done. School lunch, clothes etc are done at night. Mornings are not hectic that way

The kids are honest now, leave them oh. I took my kids to Ghana and put them school for one year, they cried and begged to come back. But I learned one thing myself, in Africa we are too hard on ourselves for no reason. Some of this teachers are frustrated and just take it out on the kids for no reason.

I used to think African education is better in the beating of kids at school aspect but I realized it has given so many teacher an opportunity to use the kids as punching bags. I correct my kids when they do wrong things I’ve warn them about before . And that is out of love not out anger and frustration. African teacher have put so much fear in children. It so bad. Our Heavenly Father God, even when we do wrong correct us out of love. Putting fear in child heart at such early age have caused a lot of harm in adulthood. I was a victim of that. May God help us

Awesome! Congratulations to your family 🎉 Edited: Neze, i saw where someone said your kids don't have to shower in the morning so they can get ready for school quickly. I'm sure they shower before going to school in Nigeria. Biko, make sure your kids shower in the morning, that system of not taking shower in the morning is why many adults here (I live in America) walk around with body odour. They leave their house to work without taking a shower, not just only in winter, both in summer & all year round because they are used to it. Someone will come to work without taking a shower for 12 hours shift, that is like 24hours without shower. Some will go home tired & climb their bed to sleep. Some can even stay days without shower. You can have them go to bed early so they can get enough sleep

One thing we do here that help morning school run is that, once the kids shower at night, they don’t have to in the morning, since they went no where after shower but to bed, specially in the cold weather. My kids shower once a day. Shower routine start at 6 pm and that way you can go check on them yourself and have them well bathed and in the. Morning all they have to do is wash face brush teeth and eat breakfast and off they go.

I would say it depends on the age of the kids. Younger kids would be OK but 2 eldest boys should shower in the mornings because children as they grow up develop a scent and it's not yet body odour but it can be pungent so to avoid bullying and name calling abeg they should shower in the mornings. A friend was doing nightshower but when her daughter was 8 she developed that scent and doctors said it was normal and very common amongst children around that age.

This is interesting. In Peterborough Ontario, the kids don't buy anything, they just come with their lunch and school bag (if you dont have school bag, the school provides). Peterborough school also provide meals in class for kids as well, but I prefer to give my kids food

When I came to the US I got to know that using foil is not really good. Long use of it they say causes cancer. So I use ziplock for everything. So try using ziplock to put their sandwich. This is just an advice. You don’t really have to do it. Congrats on your kids first day of school 🎉

In Nigeria some teachers transfer their frustration to the poor innocent kids, I don't support flogging never mind in a school setting. There are other ways to correct a child, we need to move pass those barbaric ways of "discipline ".
