Hi Chantel A Great Video - I enjoyed hearing and seeing your kids favorite books. It is interesting to see what kind of books they love. Take Care & Happy Reading ❤️🤗🙏🔰📚📖❤️
Thanks for sharing this! My 7 year old has the same taste and the only one he hasnt read was Calvin and Hobbs. Well, we got it from the library and he read it for a week straight! I need more of what he loves!
The way your cat kept looking up at you was adorable! Also, loved the books you recommended. I look after a 7 year old who has ADHD and has trouble concentrating. I would love to get him into reading, so some of these books, I think he might like. Especially the graphic novels. I think he'd do good with those, since he loves super heroes. Thanks for this list! Oh and your cat stole the show for me, lol.
Haha, yeah, the cat always wants to steal the show. I think these books would be great for the 7 year old you look after, my son is untested but checks pretty much every ADHD box.
Your CAT❤❤❤❤I love how you just started using one hand for the books and one hand to pet the cat😂Also Common Sense Media and Plugged In are great sites for checking content in books for your kids! I recommend him trying My Teacher is an Alien by Bruce Coville. It's hilarious and one of my favorites! This Gum for Hire was a cute book about a gecko detective. I don't remember that one being funny but it was cute.
Haha, yes, the cat has become a bit of a diva . . . I'm heading to the library site right now to check those books out, thanks for the recommendations!
Hi Chantel, how do you go about getting the audiobooks for your children? Do you purchase them one by one, or borrow them from the library? My children enjoy listening to audiobooks but getting them through audible is a bit expensive, and the library seems to have long waiting list. We are in New Zealand, but just curious to hear how you go about it. Thanks :)
We mostly use the Libby and Hoopla apps through the library. I do also have an Audible subscription and I'll purchase books that we can't get through the library and I feel confident that they will be re-listening to. I wrote a couple of blog posts about audiobooks in the fall: * Why & How We Use Audible: www.intentionalhomeschooling.com/why-and-how-we-use-audible-as-a-family/ * All the Apps we use for Audiobooks: www.intentionalhomeschooling.com/all-the-apps-we-use-to-listen-to-audiobooks/ I hope that helps!
LOVE this list!! I will definitely be picking these up for my 9yo son!! We’ve already picked up and loved Land of Stories based off of your recommendation!! My son has such similar taste and devours graphic novels as well!! He’s a huge history/mythology/science fan, so we love the History Comics series, Show Me History series, Science Comics series, and Hazardous Tales series. Along the same lines, he really loved Unstoppable Us: How Humans Took Over the World. Question for you- I know you guys do a lot of audiobooks- how do you encourage your son to read the physical book? My 9yo always prefers the audiobook! I even bought him the next Land of Stories book and he’s just asking for the audiobook. I think it’s a totally valid way of reading, but I was just wondering if you had any tips about that! Thank you!!! ❤️
Yes, my son 100% will always choose the audiobook over the physical book (with the exception of graphic novels). I require 30 minutes of physical book reading in our homeschool day to try to build that physical reading muscle. He still will hardly pick up a novel to physically read on his own but I'm hoping with the continual building of that muscle the day will come! I know my son has read some Science Comics and Hazardous Tales but I'll have to check those other series' out, thanks for the recommendations!
