have my class A. was best thing ive done in my life. went from stressing out if im gonna be able to pay the bills to not even thinking about bills anymore lol
Great video! Just a FYI with thee strap winches, they should be on the passenger side for safety. For instance if you see a loose strap and need to pull to the shoulder, you won't be in traffic to winch it down. Stay safe
Best thing you could do for anyone out there; 1.do hot shot to get your foot in, 2.once you have the money to do cdl definitely get it, 3. work towards getting a big rig, 4. Once you get a big rig, and trailer, thats where the real money is at and either expand with big rigs or make a fleet of hotshots and employ people. Its easier said than done but enough focus and diligence, over time, it is very doable and more than worth it. Stay safe ! Edit: Didnt mention this in the first comment. Nice set up bro !
Great set up man. Can't wait to see the next video about the start up costs. I just spoke to a lady at the local college about signing up for the CDL Truck training..... I've started my trucking paperwork for my business already. Thank you for being transparent and it's good to see a positive brother doing big things man!
Hey man just wanted to let you know was having a gooseneck trailer you don't have to cross your chains if you make a really tight turn with them crossed your ripped a chain right out if it's not long enough my idea regulations not required to cross them if it's a gooseneck and if you end up doing a fifth wheel set up at any point you don't have to hook a chain up at all
X2 don’t cross your chains on a gooseneck setup. Also keep your ball greased. You probably already know all this being you made this video a year ago lol good luck
You better get your CDL this fall. About next spring actually starting in February 2022 they're going to increase the requirements on the course required to get your class a and b I believe also. The government's going to make it tougher to run your own authority I've heard too by raising insurance requirements
Congratulations I wish you much success. I recently purchased my BigTex trailer and backing up takes practice and patience. Helpful tip keep your hand at the bottom of steering wheel when backing, when you want to back to the right turn the steering wheel to the right and the opposite to go left. It has helped me a lot with backing the trailer as a newby to hotshot.
How does it work hot shot with no cdl. I keep hearing different things. Rig set up needs to be under 26k or is it 26k and under with a load to he with no cdl
Get the class A bro.. believe it or not.. it's looked at differently.. I actually went to a college to get mine.. went through everything.. showed you how to do brakes/air brakes.. pre trips.. dot inspection.. how to drive 18 wheelers.. forward.. straight backing.. zig zags.. parallel parking.. parallel parking on the blind side.. was a really good experience.. I recommend it for anyone..
@@onesmoothcat like 3 months.. but I think there were a few prerequisites.. like an English and a math class.. but you can take those classes while your in the trucking classes
I dont understand at 5:40, The maximum GVWR for non cdl is 26,000. So how are you able to haul anything? Maybe im not understanding what GVWR is actually meaning? I think im mistaken and Id really like clarification.
What,s up bro, do u have to go where to make the set up for hotshot? Because it does not bring the hole in the middle right? Where they make the pick up truck set up at?
Bro I love the videos.. keep striving.. I was trying to see, I have a terrible driving record about 15-20 tickets.. plus a dui. Do you think I can still get my authority
Hey bro, your load weight gonna max out at about 6k - 7k if you running a 1 ton dully truck at 14k and a trailer at 12k. You'll be under 26k but the weight of the trailer itself is about 6k leaving you with only about 6k to 7k max depending on the weight of the trailer. when you said you'll get about 11k to haul I was like oh nooo! let me tell him now lol. You can also have the truck d rated down from 14k to 12k which will give you 2,000 lds more to carry.
Big congrats on your sweet set up mike !!! I wish you the best for your Journey! But if you don’t mind me asking back in your Rkm trucking days when you guys got pulled over did they actually ask for your hotel receipts? I just started box trucking and these hotels are expensive lol
Is this dodge V6 or V8 ? Im new to this business and I never drove a truck? I did search and some of them are V6, does the V6 capable of towing that much weight?
@@entremike and also remember your trailer is rated for 12k, so don't put 11k on it or you'll be overweight at the scale house. Subtract the weight of the trailer (probably around 3-4k) fron the trailer's GVWR. That will give you your trailer payload capacity. Not trying to be the know it all negative guy, just trying to help you avoid problems.
The fact that he is driving a dully (14k gvwr)+ trailer (14k gvwr)= $28,000 total gvwr Non CDL. Can not exceed 26,001 lbs gvwr. By down grading gvwr on trailer you lose on weight load capacity.
I haven’t seen many in hotshot specifically, although I have seen a small amount of flatbed women. Basically the same thing. Only thing is, it’s a lot of labor required, doesn’t mean you can’t do it though !
@@cesarchavez507 I got a International.. with Cummings engine n a Allison transmission.. How much are you paying? How many miles on it? Who you getting it from?
Everyone can’t afford to start up a business & quit their jobs. I work my 70 hours a week. Not a fool for anyway , I went from making $400 / week at my old job to taking home easily more thank $2500 a week. Quit being a hater on the new cats trying to feed their families
@jaymack what’s your set up? You call people working honestly fools for how they start. You started a RU-vid channel and only have 1 video from months ago that did not get many views. You sir are a loser! Your probably not even in business anymore
