Hot Gravy Sandwiches were a family staple during the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s and into the 1970s. Most places called them "Blue Plate Special" Sandwiches because many Diners and Pool Halls offered them up on plates with blue rims. The Pool Halls were open into the wee hours of the morning before fast food places were everywhere. When I was on the Police Department as a Dispatcher they were our best options for dinner during the Midnight (Hoot Owl) Shift 11 PM to 7 AM. Fun seeing them still being served up!

Hi Mav, I went to Vancouver, Canada back in the day to see The Who. I stayed in a hotel in the middle of downtown and I noticed that during the day, downtown is buzzing, it's craziness in a good way. So I'm on the top floor of whatever hotel I was staying at, and I'm staring out the window looking down at the city, and after midnight it's like a ghost town! It was a trip because everyone disappeared, and there was a street sweeper going around cleaning up the town! Very clean! I've never seen anything like that in Seattle. I thought it was pretty cool. There's really no point to my story, I just remembered that when you mentioned the street sweeper so I thought I'd share. Keep on Truckin Mav 🤘🎸🎶💙

Back in 1986 I went to Sherbrooke to visit my girlfriend and her mother made this concoction it was pita bread and she stuffed it with freshly made French fries and homemade coleslaw. I thought to myself oh heck no, but dang it was pretty darn good. She said it was a local delicacy.

Hey Mav, I live around Montréal but I'm in Baie-Saint-Paul, one hour east of Québec city, for the summer. Incredibly beautiful. Idk if you're heading this way but it's for sure worth it if you are. There's Parc National des Hautes-Gorges or/and Les Grands Jardins too if you want. Enjoy your trip wherever you're heading. :)
