well, if that's "inexperienced" and "cringe" then clearly we're operating on two different scales 😂. BTW, you look divine in this blouse, old Hollywood glamour
I love this blue costume because expose your beautiful body line , just perfect for Ballet. You could only walk across a stage and that will be performance.
Russian ballet is just on a different level altogether. We just have to love it and draw inspiration, and go on doing our thing at our earthbound level. 😅
With all of the hours and years that you spent working on your dance, how in the world did you find the time to become such an amazing pianist as well?
I know right, talented all the way. I believe they have to play an instrument (or maybe even piano) as part of the curriculum at Vaganova. And she needs musicality and precise coordination for both, so I can see how that goes...
@billie. ramone Although I'm an American, I believe you are correct. I think that the educational programs for ballet students in Russia are better and broader than American ballet training programs.
I grew up dancing ballet, from 6 to 17, was a soloist in a small company (until I had to retire bc of a hip injury that I'm still dealing with at age 38,getting a total replacement in a few years). Anyway, I only THOUGHT I was good and here you are at 13, dancing like a literal angel. None of this is cringe, you are far too hard on yourself. You have been so blessed with your talents and work ethic. Stunning!
@@КисаМурыса-и2к that's sweet of you, thanks! Ballet didn't actually cause the injury - it was a congenital condition - but it certainly didn't help any because if I hadn't spent most of my life trying to open my hips and increase turn out, I wouldn't have ever known. It is what it is.
@@ИринаПряхина-и7д if your so ‘good’ you don’t gotta be so rude. Plus, if your so ‘good’ then why don’t you post a video on your channel of you going ballet
I used to play piano professionally and i just love watching ballet here and there, did not expect to be treated to such a smooth and wonderful rendition of a chipun classic here! For 12 thats incredible and you should feel very proud of yourself!
I think you are too hard on yourself. I honestly enjoy watching the progress of dancers, from early years to where they are currently. I see so much improvement. A testament to your Coaches and your hard work.
Вот это уровень фортепиано!!!!! Просто супер! Ничего себе! Мария, Вы сама понимаете, что Вы за уникальная личность, какая степень одаренности и способности к концентрации, и и интеллекта! Ваши родители счастливые люди!
Wow your piano playing is so beautiful! I love that Chopin and you play it well! How can someone have so much talent (not discounting your obvious hard work) in multiple areas... truly amazing.. brava :)
Is it possible to do a video with your mother? I would love to hear her interviewed and how she raised you and your sister and what she wanted for yall. She gave her daughters so much beauty. She had to have done something very, very right!
As a pianist I have to say she is really good for an amateur (if you can call her like that)! This is not an easy piece. You need at least 5 years of intensive (!) training to try it.
I love this video concept, if you have more of these old videos I'd love if you made a part two. I actually love that imperfect 5th position because it just shows that while you can be talented it still takes a lot of practice and hard work to perfect it. Also: you looked so much like your sister as a child 😄 P.s Now I am expecting a Masha plays the piano 2023 edition after seeing that video.
Yes, more of this please! This was incredible! I have two favorite pieces.. 1. The dance from the Fairy Doll-- your technique shows so beautifully and the dress is absolutely gorgeous, and 2. The duet set to Chaconne.. such a perfect role for you in terms of artistry & movement and I adore the emotionality in the music. You have always been so talented, and it's insane to see how drastically you improved each year! Your piano solo was absolutely mind blowing, by the way. We are living for this content, Masha.. "Passe game strong!!" hahah
I see zero cringe! this was adorable and honestly... shocking to me! lolol at 14 i was getting in trouble for smoking week behind the bleachers at school and Maria was a full on STAR!! She looked dedicated, committed and a little nervous but she still looked like she was loving it. Just wow! i loved it and YES WE WANT TO HEAR ALL THE STORIES! What was it like in school? was this a school for ballet where you learned your other material too? or did you go to another school for things like math and reading ect. Im SO interested in your schooling experience, did you like it or hate it at that time?
I mean I’m not her but as for how her schooling worked… She went to Vaganova, which is a ballet academy in St. Petersburg, so it’s focus is on ballet. However it is also a regular school, meaning they have to take and pass all the required regular subjects (math, literature etc)… but ballet is the focus and the rest of the school day is built around it. It is basically middle + high school (6-12th grades, but 6th=1st grade). There are dorms if you’re from far away, but Maria is from St Petersburg so she lived at home. Hope this helped a bit. There are also plenty of videos on RU-vid about what a day is like at Vaganova. I believe even Maria has one. Edit: just wanted to add this. Even just to get into Vaganova is extremely competitive. There are auditions and they accept based on potential determined by body type (flexibility, turnout, etc)… only 20-60% (depending on the year) of students actually graduate. A lot are expelled if they don’t progress.
Aww, I loved seeing little Masha dance! I go to a small dance school in the USA and this year I was asked by the Artistic Director to do a Pas de Deux for YAGP with one of my classmates who is graduating this year. I have only done partnering a few times and was inspiring to see that you also performed pas de deux with little experience in that area as well!
I have the mariinsky nutcracker in dvd it was a gift from my dad in christmass when i was little, and that dvd was the reason why i started ballet, i remember seeing the kids in mirlintons and thinking i want to be as great as them.
Wow! You play and dance so beautifully . Your passion for the music, soft, aggressive, sad, gently laughing in the dance, and the joy and ache of your dance transforming the music, it sends chills up and down my spine. I am overcome seeing the irresistible expression of your spirit, your amazing girl’s heart- the astonishment of feeling the blaze of sunshine in a fresh blossom, the tiger in a kitten. Bravo ! bravo! A half an hour watching you perform and all the harshness in this modern world vanishes for me. Yes, please give us more!
Lying here with cancer you are so blessed to be able to live and love what you do and to have such support to live your dream being a mixed heritages individual with 1 emigration parents now departed at 40 its to late to live my dream but watching you is inspiring I know its not all smiles and roses but the end result is beautiful and your breaking alot of the stigmas around ballet.💛🇬🇧
Sorry to hear you are going through this.i wish you well.i also wanted to dance but i was one of four girls and only the eldest one got to go to lesson's. I used to go and watch the classes and wouls sit there tapping my feet.im 76 now and it still fills me with sadness that i couldent do it.but i love to watch any sort of dance but especialy Ballet.take care.🌹🌹
You are very talented. You should stop being so embarrassed and pointing out your mistakes...most of us would have loved to even have a milli-fraction of your talents and opportunities that were opened for you to do these things ;) Thank you for sharing with us. My daughter is 13 and just starting dance (we can only afford two dance classes per week) but she wants to dance Russian classical ballet so badly. I showed her one of your classes that you posted. Though much too advanced for her, I said that she could practice in the privacy of her room and that she could be just as talented as you. Thank you again!
So impressed with your accomplishments at this stage in your life. Being computer/internet savvy will expose you to a much wider global audience. I love the shorter hair style and language skills are constantly improving. Ballet is fabulous & all, so exploit it now for all it's worth, your dancing career will be over before you know it. You are a cross media sensation in the making and so much more than a ballet dancer.
Thank you for sharing journey through your ballet career and the treat of your piano concert. Truly, you are a truly rounded artist! I love your comments and how you point things out that my untrained eyes would not pick out! Please, I would love to have more videos such as this! 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 ❤
@@dicer250 талант от Бога, чудесные природные данные, прекрасный подъем! Классов выпускных достаточно, но солистами становятся не все, даже усиленно прилагая труд свой
Pomnyu eto god v pirvom video kak eto bilo tolko vchera! I remember these performances so vividly and watching you in the rehearsals in zal sidmogo verh** You already had a presence, Masha dorogaya! And hugs to Pasha M.☺
All I can say is "Wow" thats incredible Maria!! Such a gifted human!! Loved watching this footage of you performing Fantasy Impromptu (as I'm a piano player too - and your certainly no novice at playing piano thats for sure!) But its obvious that you were destined for the stage from a young age just looking at those clips! Thankyou for posting - enjoyed them very much!! 🥰
Мария как будто пришла к нам из мира фей. Танцует божественно, играет на пианино, изъясняется на английском. И всё это так органично, не верится, что она из нашего мира.
It's so amazing that you could perform all that partnering without previous training!!! I definitely see what you mean about Grishko not working on your feet and it's so nice to see you change into better shoes. It was so interesting and fun to hear you talk about dancing at Vaganova and seeing you dance at such a young age!
Think you did amazing in that first clip from the Nutcracker! You were so young at the time and hadn’t danced for nearly as long as you have now. Your body and your dancing was still very much developing when you were just 12 years old! You did things at that age that a majority of adults wouldn’t be able to do
Between your mastery of dance and the piano, I don't know how you have time for anything else😋 The piano playing wasn't cringe at all; it was incredible!
The most beautiful sound I ever heard...Maria, Maria, Maria. Thank you for sharing parts of your lovely life with us. Tonight, you have enhanced my life and made me so happy.
I have followed your career ever since I saw you in Instagram many years ago. I have always admired your perfect timing with the music. Thank you so much for sharing your videos with us. Continue shining so bright. We will always be walking beside you and cheering from wherever we are.
Thanks, Maria, for sharing those old videos. You were super cute, and it's a joy to see your talent developing. And as for the piano piece - ok, it was a bit rushed, but what flow you had in it! I never was able to get that far with my piano lessons (10 years of them). No cringing needed. It was all heartwarming!
You are stunningly talented as a ballerina as well as piano player, and yet so nice and humble, and generous sharing your talent and your skills as trainer!! Super cool ballerina, I think actually you are the best 🔝
I’ve always thought you would have also been a killer figure skater, and that blue dress you said you loved in the last ballet video you showed to the Handel piece is iconic figure skating dress material. Especially for the dance category of figure skating with the longer skirt line. So in a way this made that idea complete, it’s like I got to see a glimpse of you as a pro figure skater in an alternate timeline. Amazing!! 😊
Hello Maria, How lovely it is to see your evolution, little by little, like a bird who learns to fly, high, with elegance, so gorgeous,... you are born to be an artist! But how many years, swet, exercises, efforts it asks! Thank you so much for sharing. It is always a pleasure to look at your videos 😊 Kind regards 😊💗
Loved hearing your interpretation of your growth as a dancer in school. It was so cute to see your reaction as well when you watched yourself. Yes, would love to see more!
Maria: artistic gymnast, pianist, ballerina. Wow. You were such a beautiful dancer so young! I loved seeing your young ballet videos. I'm so sorry you had to dance when you were so sick. It didn't show at all. And to be such a wonderdul pianist too is unreal! How many hours did you practice the piano a day to get to that level of the piano so young? It is truly amazing. How many piano lessons a week did you take? Since I assume you lived at the Vagonova school, how were you able to practice your piano? I would love to know more details. It didn't sound like you butchered the fast part. Why do you think that? When did you become fluent in English? Your English is so great.
I'm not certain, but I've read somewhere that vaganova students are actually required to take music lessons and play the piano (or other instruments?). It's a common practice in a lot of big ballet schools since it is so beneficial to the dancers to understand music... so I suppose it was included in her regular schedule while she was there. Maybe she took extra time for it... but we all know she is freakishly talented and hard working anyway!
This video was so beautiful, please do these kind of videos more👏❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏 and you are very hard on yourself watching the baby khoreva, I think you were doing so good always…. Loved it!! And I learned a lot watching you correcting yourself🙌❤️I enjoyed a lot, thanks❤️💐
She in age 12 playing Chopin so easly. I in age 12 trying to play properly the easiest piano peaces. As you said there should be more dynamic but still Chopin is quiet hard to play! Even now! Girl, you just have a gift!
Thank you for the peek into your progresion at the Vaganova Academy. Such overall talent. Dance and piano. As a layperson, when it comes to piano music, I have a feeling you just played through the Chopin with very little nuance in phrasing, tempo, touch and emotion. Your thoughts? But wonderful that you have that proficiency, so helpful for ballet. Hope your injury is healing well. You are missed on stage - at least the small peeks of Mariinsky performances that we are lucky enough to see in the West. A little while ago, I came across a Cuban composer, whose music I have come to love. Ernesto Lecuona. My favorite (on RU-vid) Lecuona's Love Songs - Noche Azul (Blue Night) By Ernesto Lecuona - Doesn't give the name of the pianist.
She played the Chopin as a student. Just trying to get it over with. She def had some emotion. It’s a bit rushed, probably cause she’s nervous, & the melody at certain points is muddled (as she mentioned). But this is considered a difficult piece and the fact that she can play that well with the amount of time per day she was dancing is incredible, cause obviously she hadn’t had much time to practice piano after. Natural talent. As she mentions in the video.
@@roastedpepper I was in now way attempting to demean Maria. She was critical of herself. It is indeed amazing that she is such a talented dancer, as well as being able to play classical piano that well.
Please, stop being overly critical to yourself. You were amazing. My favourite part was the last one, the piano concert (I also played a piano). Every once in a while please stop, remember your qualities and compliment yourself. 💕
Hi Maria! I was wondering if you could do a video on how you found you perfect pointe shoe? I know you did a video on how you prepare your pointe shoes, but I think it would be interesting to hear more in detail your journey to finding your best pair of shoes!
You are incredible! Stop being so damn hard on yourself. Take this from someone who grew up Irish Dancing and doing choir everyday. Be proud of yourself and all that you have accomplished, you are fabulous!! Think about it, you were given these parts and solos for a reason, don't undermine that truth with overharsh criticism. Your teachers saw something in you, celebrate that and build upon your best parts. No one will see the mistakes if you don't call attention to them. As long as you know that they are there then work on it, but let us think that you are flawless. Much love and encouragement ~ M.
Your parents must have been so proud ❤ I think what these clips show is that the talent was always there. Some dancers it's noticeable throughout their education.
I was able to see La Sylphide at the Mariinskiy. It was such a beautiful performance. Then I was able to see Swan Lake at the Mikhailovskiy. I love St. Petersburg and I miss living there.
absolutely adorable and very uncringe throughout. Loved the piano too and for someone who can’t play a single thing from memory, not kidding, it was astounding! Loved your commentary & recollections, being ill, pirouettes difficult in the pink costume, love of the blue floaty costume (although to me it looked not dissimilar to me to a practice leotard. Really lovely to watch, all of it. Ps you are critical of yourself (plus amused) but so beautifully complimentary about everyone else! 🥰
What i was shocked from is seeing you playing the piano because i am a ballerina too and i play piano as well but you where much better than me at my age ❤👏
That was absolutely 💯 👌🏻 fantastic!!!! You SHOULD NOT laugh at, especially, your piano recital!!! It was fantastic! Girl, you're living your dream which I never got to do!!! ENJOY EVERY MINUTE!!!
You are so beautiful and talented! Please show us more! I loved every single second. I say to you: be so proud of each stage of your journey and enjoy yourself! It's so much fun that you have so much to look back at and see your growth. Regret not a single bobble or misaligned toe. Smile kindly at the younger you for she is what gave you your foundation. You will always have a 'younger' you. A 'younger' you that holds you up as you grow. Each stage is precious, as precious as you are today. I look forward to seeing more.
