Searched for a camera body that would fill in a size between my Panasonic GM-5 and my Olympus OM-D E-M1 and the logical choice was the E-M5 II when I found a used on for sale that came with both grips!

Love this little machine. Output is amazing. I use it with the small Oly primes.

I have the same combo. The E-M5 ii is a bit small even with the grip. My grip is the inexpensive one with no contacts, but it does have battery access. I put some non-skid clear tape (like used in a shower floor) and that helps with the grip.

beameup64, yes, great camera! Three years later, it’s still the camera I grab when I go out to shoot.

I went with a refurbished EM-5 mk ii early last year as a step up from an EPL6 and then last week found an EM-1 with battery grip and only 2200 actuations for $299 delivered. Both are nice enough that I don't feel a need to get a newer model. Liked your reasoning on bodies.

Dale Clark, thank you and congratulations on your good, economical finds! I love my “old” E-M5 II and hardly every use my E-M1 I, though I like it.

I bought a used em5 mkii this year as well as the 12-40 pro and i love them! I already had the em10 mkii and the pen-epl9 but I feel like this camera has really upped my photography.

Good reasoning for choosing the em5 ii it's a good all around image making camera I got mine in June with the grip new ,the Olympus system chose me as I got a good deal on two pro Olympus lenses first the 12-40 and the 40-150 I also have the mc14 1.4 extender ,can't wait to get some prime lenses .

Mario Arias - wow, great assembly! I'm envious, though when I tried the 40-150mm for an hour or so last year at Out of Chicago Conference, I felt, for a micro4/3 lens, that it was bigger than I want to carry around. I understand it's an excellent lens, but I opted for the Panasonic 35-100mm, f/4-5.6 for some extra reach. By comparison it's like a VW bug next to a Winnebago RV! I'm loving my Olympus OM-D E-M5 II! Find I'm using it more than my E-M1. Always have the first level grip attached and have yet to use the battery grip. Thanks for commenting, Mario!

Thanks Bill yeah the 40-150 2.8 is heavy especially with the mc 14 converter ,I've used it for wildlife since I live in the country it's equivalent as you know to 420mm but even at that I sometimes wish I had the 300mm f/4 lol .

I got the 70-300mm some time ago and find I don't use it much. Not a birder and, again, though way smaller than the 40-150mm Pro, it's heavy. I keep it, though, "just in case!"

I had the EM1 and found it a bit big for the EM5 now handling isn't greaat thought about the grip however if I get it I should have just kept the EM1 with grip it will be same size.

I went down to the m10 mkII. I found it too small even with the grip. So I went to the 5mk II. It seems to be as small as I can go with comfort and I don't have to use the grip ( but I often do for the added battery )

The PNW Rider - yeah, that battery grip really ads bulk, so I have not yet even attached it! Will have to give it a try.

Ty for the video, Would this camera be worth wild to buy in 2018? I like that it is weatherproof and It might be on sale in November. This upgrade would be from a phone camera and my skills are beginner photography.

DX1 O - in my opinion, yes. It’s a great camera and since getting it now about 14 months ago, it’s the camera I tend to always use (though I am experimenting with limiting myself to my little Panasonic GM-5 camera these days - see some of my recent Video Updates), leaving my E-M1 I (also a fantastic camera!) on the shelf. Together with the weather sealed Oly 12-40mm Pro lens, it’s a wonderful wet weather package and the combo with which I generally take 98% of my photos. I got mine used with the two grips and a couple extra batteries for around $600+ used. I would think that you could find a good deal these days.

DX1 O - check out my “Learning Photography” series. Might be of help if you’re starting out with a camera like the E-M5 II: ru-vid.com/group/PLrB6InlYh7SPcvXSzuWtrmS04Qw8W7VBZ
