One major thing that I forgot to mention in this video is a “PRO” which is their customer service. When I had the fluke accident a couple weeks ago Andrew sent me the replacement fitting via next day air. He’s always told me that if I ever need anything that he’ll take care of me, which to me that’s 2nd to none customer service.
As far as putting more gas in the tank, I bought a battery powered gasoline pump for $20 on Amazon. That eliminates the problem of picking up the gas tank.
I have been around alot of different equipment .. that accident is definitely 1 in a million. .. Joe you need that kinda luck at the Casino! Hopefully next time you win big. First and foremost you did not get injured and that matters most .... hydraulic leaks can be very dangerous.....second the splitter repair was really minor.... Eastonmade customer service is outright AWESOME. Cross threading can happen to anyone.... it only take a second. When I went to school for diesel repair.. my teacher would say over and over and over.. hydraulic lines or any line for that matter.. should always be started by hand. No wrenches.. hands only... that simple little rule will always save you from cross threading.... good luck and keep up the great videos
@@JoesFirewoodVideosII oh I know... I'm not ball bustin like Pam. I'm no safety Sally.. but I have seen people lose fingers, limbs from hydraulic leaks... that fluid is under alot of pressure... even in something as simple as a log splitter....
I just subscribed to your channel that's really cool that Andrew is going to let you keep the splitter. I just learned from Reading comments. I to sell firewood. I been doing it for a few years now and I'm in the market of upgrading to a bigger faster splitter and I've been looking at the Wolf Ridge and eastonmade. I do about a hundred cords a year with two box store splitters. just gained a new client with a couple of gas station's who's going to buy 500 bundles for summer camping from me. I’ve been tossing the idea of starting a small scale wood business on the side and I’ve watched a ton of vids on splinters and this by far is the best choice. If I can get the dump trailer and splitter, and a location to split it all I can get ahold of logs when ever from a local tree service for free. So who knows maybe it will work.
Joe's Firewood Videos II would it make more sense to get the larger model with the lift arm? Because the guy I have lined up for wood is a tree service guy so his logs might be pretty crazy. Unless the cost of getting a load of log poles is a more economical option. If the large size is Im on the fence with this model and wolf ridge compact commercial splitter. What do you think.

I had fuel lock happen to me also, with the machine just sitting there. Next time just take out the spark plug release the pressure, it will start rite up. Keep Split N
Thanks for the video I’m thinking about getting one of these. I have a big box splitter I burn 5-6 cord a year and might sell 4-5, so you’re confirming what I’m seeing that it splits twice as fast.
For the volume of firewood that you're doing I would think a box store splitter would be adequate. This splitter is perfect for someone doing 50-250 cord per year.
The hydraulic failure follows one of my favorite saying: “a good story is better than a good time”. Which means you can tell this story for the rest of your life. Also, about lying...Mark Twain said “if you tell the truth you don’t have to remember anything”. Great video!!
How long do you get to keep it for. Might be hard to go back to the old splitter when he takes it. Would be cool if they would let you keep it for all the videos you have already done and are still doing.

Very good honest review of that splitter . Yes you had a problem but stuff happens eh . Perfect for the home owner who burns a few cords to heat up the house . Large wheels make it easier to move around . Not a fan of the 4-way wedge . I like to control the size of the pieces . Andrew picked the right person to demonstrate that splitter . Just wish it had a bigger push plate incase you wanted to split larger pieces . The thing is it CAN split very large hard pieces but it's easier with 2 people . Another very good product made in Canada . Canadians do know how to build a Quality product . Customer service .... the best . You the man Andrew .
That company appears to make high quality and solid built firewood processing equipment. Grade A stuff. Good review joe! I believe they are Canadian company and it shows.
Vanguard motor is what they put on their splitters now and they are way better motor then the Honda.. Honda is far from being bullet proof.. I have been repairing small engines for over 40 years and I can tell you Honda advertises big time but its not the best motor out there. I would score it a 6 out of 10 and the Vanguard I would score it a 9 out of 10
The only issues that I have had with it was a broken pull cord and once it built up a lot of compression and I wasn't able to pull the pull cord. That was fixed by taking spark plug out and putting it back in.

Surprised more people didn’t comment about #MiniMike. I have heard some of his ads have appeared in my videos. To me quality is more important than speed, can’t really control the size/shape with 4-way
Hi Joe. Buy a battery powered gas pump. Super cheap online. I use it for my tractor, riding lawn mower etc.... they weigh a pound and have automatic shut off. You won't be disappointed. Cheers

Fair points all except I don't think the wood behind the push plate is a once in a million event. More like a few thousand or even few hundred. I can see the scenario in my minds eye, using the 4 way, the push plate is too small to keep the pieces moving forward all the time, instead they move out to the side and the two top pieces move upward as well. This creates a potential shear zone where the push plate continues to push the bottom two pieces but slips right past one of the top two and if there is anything on the wood that can hook on the back side of the push plate, the return is so fast that you need very quick response to stop the ram before it drags the hooked wood back into the unprotected hydraulic assembly. If one only uses the two way and smaller wood all the time, yeah, more like a million to one or maybe even less than that, but, that kind of defeats the purpose of using a commercial splitter for those who don't mind a lot of scrap and kindling in with the firewood.
Joe you might wanna start planning ahead here if possible., once this demonstration promo ends and they come for their machine it's gonna be fugly going back to that huskee. It's gonna be a complete shock to your system and Mike and Zach don't deserve to be put back on that slow splitter. It's not fair
I actually used the Huskee today because I didn’t want to split in the snow or move the Ultra. Andrew basically told me that as long as I keep making videos I can keep it indefinitely.

There is a down fall it don't have a lift to pick big rounds up and it don't go verticle for $4,000 it should have a lift I paid $1,200 for my 27 ton champion log splitter and it can also go verticle which I have used many times on those big rounds just saying
