@@marclenraymagdaraog691 well, lets set aside that my comment was a response to posterior appreciator above me who brought up Imperial order, so disregarding the fact I wasn't talking about skill drain at all, galaxy cyclone can remove skill drain even easier. The more problematic card that posterior appreciator was pointing out was imperial order shuts down spells which really screws over decks almost as much and sometimes even more than skill drain. Does that answer your question or do you want to have me keep pointing out things very slowly for you?

Win condition was reading and not attacking over Kragen instead switching to defence so blue eyes can't beat over your 3k defence and using eff next turn
No, because he had chaos max ready to go, and Chaos max would have let him get past it. What he should have done was attack over Kragen, let true light go off, then use prosis to get rid of the blue eyes
@@shadexvii3975 that Kragen really screws up big time. Suppose there's no Kragen, the play should be go to Defense and declare DARK to stall out until get better hand. They can't Chaos MAX or Draglubion.
Cards that remove themsleves for cost or with floating effects being able to activate under skill drain is one of the few things that make it "fair". The problem is you can run a deck full of those kinds of things to take advantage of it yourself. Hell, that's the basic principle behind Golden Land Stun, all their effects happen in hand or grave. Blue Eyes decks are probably more dangerous under Skill Drain than without it because of how many dumb ways they have of summoning the highest Atk Normal Monster to beat over stuff. And Chaos MAX without effects is still a 4k beatstick.
thats why i use skill drain on my casual blue eyes deck, its fun to play under skill drain with high atk monsters, bring back a little of old times lol
However, Sometimes Skilldrain HELPS decks Skilldrain makes one of the Timelords into an easy 4k Beatstick you can **LITTERALLY NORMAL SUMMON** Same with Beast King Barbaros but at 3k, Night Express Knight also at 3k Hell, Theres a whole deck specifically for that kind of thing, Skilldrain Beatdown

But since targeting is a big part of yugioh now, the PSCT fixated the word "targets" as "targets". If a modern card says "targets", then it's targeting, if not, then it isn't.
@@くま-g3w6q Btw, one common thing to know whether a card targets or not is to look at when the selection happens. If it happens as part of the cost (before semi colon), then usually it targets. If it is part of the effect (after semi colon), it usually doesn't target. But this is not a rule per se, just a common theme

Would've been cool of you to just not attack after activating protos and put it to defense... you could've had 1 more turn to live, and use said turn to declare light again and win.

This reminds me of a game I had the other day: I was playing Rank 10 Trains and was against Eldlich, they went first and set 3 facedowns, and then immediately when I drew for turn they flipped up Skill Drain. I had an Ash, Night Express Knight, Super Express Bullet Train, and Revolving Switchyard in my opener. My first instinctual thought on seeing Skill Drain was "use switchyard to search Derricrane to Xyz and pop Skill Drain", then I remembered I can't detach Derricrane because of Skill Drain, _then_ I remembered "wait a second... Skill Drain is actually _good_ for Trains" (note: I myself don't run Skill Drain in my Train deck even though it can be good for Trains, but maybe I should try it since it's so good against a lot of meta decks) I proceeded to summon Knight without tribute, Skill Drain negated it back into a 3000 beater, I special summoned Bullet, Skill Drain negating its attack drawback, I moved to combat, opponent activates an Eldlixir, I Ash it, and they scoop. (I assumed because that was the only Eldlich searcher they opened with?) It's kinda fun playing Rank 10 Trains against Eldlich, Numeron OTK, and Sky Strikers. Plenty of popping to slow/stop Eldlich, Trains OTK pretty consistently so I just Uno-Reverso OTK the Numeron players, and Sky Strikers games end up having a lot of back-and-forth. Screw Drytron Fairies though. Benten and Eva need to both be fully forbidden. Edit: Thanks for clarifying how costs and Skill Drain work. I just kinda assumed it wouldn't work, but now I know Derricrane would still pop things.
Wait why couldn't you have detached Derricrane? Skill Drain just negates monster effects on field, it doesn't stop you activating them in the first place or GY effects, and Derricrane's condition only requires you to detach itself to activate right?
He's in a better spot, especially if he finds a summonable monster But still not a guaranteed win as the opponent could wait to summon during the battle phase when he goes for game, or if they had a chaos max ready just beat over protos
@@andrejv.2834 he can still activate protoss again and destroy light monsters, which will also prevent blue eyes special summon. so the oponent would need to have the ritual monster blue eyes chaos dragon in his hand in order to summon it

Tri horned dragon is my absolute favourite beatstick, if i know im gonna win i tribute summon whatever blue eyes monsters ive got, ruin my entire board just to set it up.
that beatstick was already in the game ever since the first generation... and this video tells me it's still a viable monster to use. does that mean YGO is actually balanced?
I can't wait for machina ruinforce to be added. Skills drain isn't that strong against monster with 3000 and 4600 atk that can be summoned from the grave.
Can I honestly ask, what is the attraction to playing decks that use skill drain? I like the challenge of having to think my combos out and Putting the best board I can I can come up in the situation. I love symchron tho tho so it's all random everyhame because doppel warrior is a funny card.
Essentially, the attraction is to prevent your opponent from doing exactly what you like to do. Thats how control decks work in a nutshell, slowing the game down to where they can eventually get an unbreakable board

You should of used grave of the super ancient organisms it stops special summoned lv 6 or higher monsters from attacking and activating there effects (another skill drain) then just get rid of it with droplets

Your mistake was attacking. If you changed to defense, their beatsticks wouldn't be able to hit you, and they would have had to rely on Chaos Max(which you were dead to regardless of what happened, all things considered).
There was an out though. If you had switched to defense and activated its ability to destroy kraken and ended there, you could of won since it wasn't guaranteed he had chaos max in hand
If you go into defense position after the protos misplay then your opponent's only out is chaos max in hand right? Since they can't beat over it with blue eyes you just survive the next battle phase and activate the effect.
His wincon was not activating the effect and just attacking, otherwise chaos max would've popped and just destroyed his field even with skill drain active, its a 4k beatstick and his hand was bricked after
@@cloudniinee941 it's like 8/30 that the opponent would've had the ritual monster in hand it was 100% chance he would've summoned 1 blue eyes with the trap, putting protos in defense would've most likely bought 1 more turn with which duel logs could've pulled a 3 in 30 to draw a lvl 4 monster use protos effect to get rid of light monsters again summon and hit for game.
Choosing is not Targeting Targeting effect would specifically said Targets I learn that the hard way, the card Underworld Goddess of the Closed World is uneffected by activated cards effect unless is a targeting effect thus Forbidden Droplet don't work on her. Once you learn things the hard way you most likely won't forget

Like Black Luster Soldier Soldier of Chaos, I forgot he's safe from card effects if I use a level 7 or higher as material and wasted Solemn Warning on a Raigeki.
The numeron otk is kinda sick. I run inferknoble knights and they're chances to brick myself into incomplete combos.. like trying to survive with an extender in attack position which can't be targeted and destroyed by battle due to the equip cards. The otk just ignores my little defense xD
I had the same issue with Power tool... And besides relying on equip cards isn't optimal With that said... Good luck drawing great hands while playing your warrior fellas while your Isolde doesn't get negated
