Love the video Kev. And I love seattle and it's new Amex Centurion lounge. some of the best! I think max value almost always comes from international flights. I do burn points here and there but usually save them for big international trips. Love your thinking process for those each category. I am glad to know I do similar to a point master like you man. Do you have (or plans to) all those Hotel and Airline credit cards? and chase status? Between me and my wife (player 2) we have some sort of status and cards for almost all hotels and airlines. Not sure if I really need to have all these.
@KevinYang
@KevinYang 7 месяцев назад
Thanks for the comment Kev! And definitely far from a points master haha! Hotel and Airline cards are on my radar, but I have a hard time diving into them without some sort of dedicated travel plans in the next year, especially when they include so many certificate/award-style benefits.

Great tips in the video Kevin! Definitely have been taking notes on your strategies. How do you like AC Hotel Ginza? Looking for a Marriott in Tokyo so have been looking at some Bonvoy redemption options. Also, thanks for the shoutout at the end! 🐸
@KevinYang
@KevinYang 7 месяцев назад
The AC Hotel Ginza was my favorite hotel (and for great value) in Tokyo! In Ginza which has connections to all the main subway lines, modern, on the lower end of points needed for what you get. When I went there the second time this year with a bigger group, I REALLY enjoyed the Mimaru chain of hotel apartments (not Marriott, but just in case you have a bigger group). 🐸Np, you definitely have a unique setup!

Seattle as well and still working to reach the less than $100 per day out of state ski trips. A few things I do: 1. IKON season pass 2. Alaska Flight attendant wife 3. Venture X for the lounges 4. Bonus time condos or last minute rentals 5. Lots of Choice points from two player Choice Select 6. Building up lots of AMEX, Chase, and Capital One points from bonuses and my business expenses. I still have one expense to shrink: the car rentals. Not going to work for them, and I wonder if there’s any way to convert some kind of points at 2+ cents versus crossing my fingers on Autoslash. Any ideas?
@KevinYang

Do Alaska employees get standby tickets for spouses as well? Personally never had any experience using points for car rentals... have you checked booking with your car rental stauses?

Great info! If i have AX Plat & C-VX points. Who would be the transfer partners to mainly Cancun trips? I burned some flying to Florida recently through United and using the AX portal which I'm now finding out equalled lower points value 😂. But we live and learn. I mainly fly Alaska & United. Thanks

Love that you are focused on those super high-value redemptions &.love all of the B-Roll of your travels that you use in your videos as well. Aeroplan is an awesome travel partner so definitely agree with you on being so high on them! The Amex Green Card is definitely underrated and 3x on Travel & Transit is a great way to quickly accumulate MR Points. Love your system for prioritizing those long-term international trips. Great video as always Kevin!

Lol Kevin. I'm the same way! I take 2 big trips a year. 1 time with my whole family to Latin America and 1 time to Asia or Europe... stack points for a year (while I wait for my award flights) take my trip and use the points I I got from the previous year! Lol. I do take little weekend trips here and there too but I pay for those cash except possibly hotels.

As a fellow Seattle resident, I would also recommend to get the Alaska Airlines Visa, as it is the only way to get Alaska miles thru daily spend (they have no 1:1 transfer partners).

Yeah that card has always been on my radar, but with the recent nerf, it's still hovering just under the top of my list tbh

I live in Seattle as well and recently ditched my Alaska card. Other than the welcome bonus, earning points takes forever and they just aren't valuable enough to be worth it. I've started focusing on AMEX cards since we have a great Centurion lounge in SEA and also provides a few transfer partners that work with Alaska.
@jwil4286
@jwil4286 7 месяцев назад
@@joephillips5594 those transfer partners aren’t great, as even the best one (Marriott) is 3:1 with Alaska

Great video Kevin. I just redeemed 112K Chase points for myself and my wife for premium economy flights to Paris and Amsterdam round trip during the 25% flying blue bonus boost. Chase points truly are the GOAT. I also have over 100K points with the VX, 75K with my wife’s Citi Premier, Approaching 100K with hey wife’s AMEX Gold. 260K Hilton Points with my Honors and Surpass (still deciding on Aspire app) and 5 FNA of 50K each with my Boundless Marriott Card. Still trying to figure out my hotel situation in Paris as the redemption rates are not good with the Marriott FNA & Hilton Points. Thoughts on how to book those hotels in Paris?

Thanks for the reply. Would apreciate if you can show how to book these flights using points, especially if you dont start a trip within the US. Like, maybe from Singapore to ICN. I find booking flights that dont start in the US using points to be confusing@@KevinYang

@@PingPingTravel Actually the steps are exactly the same, but with even greater availability! Try checking Aeroplan search itself, or seats.aero!

@@PingPingTravel I personally like to do so. There's probably some ways to get even better (i.e. if you can get ANA points, booking ANA for round trip flights is even cheaper in points, and also wider availability within Asia)
