Thanks. Tom, that was one of the highlights of my trip. You can’t realize what a blessing and encouragement you were to me at that particular time in my journey.

I guess it was the realization that I just accomplished something that many people would love to accomplish but can’t for one reason or another. Also, I just accomplished something that I never thought I’d be able to accomplish. Another reason for the expression of my emotion was the realization that now I got to go home and see my family who I hadn’t seen in a long time. I think it was just 2,653.1 miles of pent up emotion that came out all at once. People react in different ways when they reach the monument. That’s just how I reacted.

On a long distance hike, I usually resupply between three and five days. I usually go in to trail towns that have a grocery store where I can re-supply. If I send a re-supply box to a post office, it’s usually from a trail town. Thanks Fred. I saw two two rattlesnakes on my PCT journey. None in the Desert section. I saw one bear, and he was running away from me as fast as he could. And I saw millions of bugs. 😂 In the year that I did the PCT (2020) I just made it past the fires in California and Oregon before they shut the trails down. I was very fortunate.😁👍❤️

No. My phone/camera broke on me in that section so I was unable to video any footage. I had to go into Southlake Tahoe to get a new phone.

@@TheHikingRev Thank you for your reply. I used to have family in Independence (nice shot of the Courthouse in the background), so I have some familiarity with the Eastern Escarpment geography, but never ever had the chance to hike to the other side of the crest. Follow up question: Between Sawmill Pass and Echo Summit, how many times and at which access trails did you go off PCT for re-supply? (Put another way: Where did you spend your town days in that section?) Sorry to bother you with these questions.

@@richardinjapan4578 No problem. 1. Mammoth. 2. Tuolumne Meadows 3. Kennedy Meadows N. 4. S. Lake Tahoe. Zero in Mammoth and S. Lake Tahoe.

It was hard to condense it down to 20 minutes…what to leave in and what to leave out. I’m glad that I can be an inspiration to us “older” hikers. I realize that one day my hiking days will be over so I’ll do it while I can.

@@TheHikingRev I openly admit that I am an electronics gadget/gear addict. I just bought a somewhat older drone (DJI Spark) which allows video footages from all kinds of angels, weighing three hundred grams only. It may be controlled (from shorter distances up to one hundred meters) from a mobile phone or even using gestures. It is capable following you and even stops should obstacles come in its way...

Thanks. April 15 to September 28. The snow in the Sierra was varied. Mostly on the North side of the passes. It started to get bad in the North Cascades after the middle of September.

Thanks. I did not want the video to be very long. I wanted it to be a compilation of clips from my journey. Therefore it was very difficult to know what to include and what to exclude. Hopefully I successfully captured the accumulated beauty of the PCT.

@@TheHikingRev Hello Rev, I have not done the Ireland Way (only parts of it) but the scenery out Wesht (as we say) is gorgeous. There is a quality to the heart in people there. It is still open and you will have some beautiful experiences if you come. I would say, however, that inflation here is insane just now and the costs are astronomical. So much so that I have decided to look for a different country to live in when I finish the PCT. I was quoted €800 for a three day car hire recently and a one night hotel stay in Dublin to visit my sons would have cost me €400 (and that was just a three star hotel!!!). So perhaps wait until things settle down again as they surely will. If you do come over you must visit Skellig Michael. It is a very special island off our west coast. Be well and hike on.
