For 58-1/2 years I could hang out with my whole family of origin, like when I was a kid (except we were a little greyer & a little more wrinkled). No longer.
This is how I've wrestled with the fairly recent death of my parents and the bizarre concept of mortality: that people can be powerhouses one day and simply gone the next.

Do you love insightful talk with openness, humor, curiosity, a Jewish sensibility and more questions than answers? This is Open For Discussion with Rabbi Laura Rappaport. I am drawn to conversation that references anything and everything. Interesting ideas don't form in a dusty, narrow silo!!
My Judaism, as an ordained Reform rabbi of many years (okay - decades), is rooted in the values that serve as the foundation of our tradition: compassion, respect, understanding the holiness within every unique person, lifelong learning, balancing care for self with care for all of society as a whole. We best strive for truth through respectful challenging, questioning, thinking outside the box, while also listening to others with an open mind and heart.
If any of this resonates with you, I'd love for you to join me in this space! It's all Open for Discussion!
In friendship,
Rabbi Laura M. Rappaport
