In this video I talk about my personality, as was requested, and then I take the test on 16personalities.com. It's a pretty long video, but I did try to make it as short as I could by cutting out some of the less important questions. Hope you like it! Thanks!

My first result was INFJ also. Then I retook it on another site and got INFP. I’ve been studying FOREVER, almost an obsession, and still am not sure. I always thought I was driven by thoughts over feelings but the older I get the harder it is to stay quiet and look the other way if something isn’t right (fair). I’ve never gone along with the crowd just to fit in, which is fine and works for me, but sometimes it’s a problem when I really don’t want to go to a social gathering - even family sometimes. People feel hurt, but if I’m down I can’t fake being happy very well, so I’d rather be alone - I prefer it over a lot of people. Maybe this doesn’t make sense but I get so drained from crowds - extroverts don’t understand why i don’t show up sometimes. I do compromise, but I can’t live for everyone else - unless it’s someone I love and they need help - I will go to the ends of the earth and jump through hoops for them. It’s such a stark contrast.

I recommend trying the test from personality hacker. Keep in mind that a lot of these tests are based on behavior instead of actual personality. They are also frequently based on the mbti dichotomy instead of the cognitive functions. Don't forget that the mbti system is mostly a classification system for Jung's cognitive functions. Also, I think it was wrong for your friend to conclusively tell you what your type is. That's not how personality type works. It is a self-discovery process that involves getting enough "data points" to get an accurate picture of your "best fit type" (as Linda Berens calls it). Let me give you a link to better descriptions of the types (in my opinion, 16 types is kind of poor and missing the mark)
@jakubjanota5086

Kinda similar story here. I took the test and the results said I was an INFJ. I read the description of INFJ and it was so accurate. I could relate to it easily. Few years later I wanted to study other personalities to know them and analyze them a bit. I thought it might be helpful irl. While doing that I took another test and I decided to be truly honest to myself because I found out that in the first test I answered some questions in a what I want to be manner rather than what I am manner so I found out I am an INTP. I didnt like that type at first but it was even more accurate than INFJ in my case. Lately it helped me a lot to understand who I am. Still would be nice to have someone else to confirm my results.

Your attempt to determine your personality type sounds a lot like mine. I regularly find a personality type I think matches me, and then question it and find another. I think you’re an ENTP. They can often be confused as introverts, but when you look at the cognitive functions in that order, it makes sense.

Lately, I've been binge-watching DaveSuperPower's videos about the personality types. Hmmm. I am an INTJ (supposedly) and have also struggled with how exactly to reconcile the MBTI with my beliefs as a Christian. On some accounts, I feel that it is helpful in explaining certain situations, but other times, I feel it creates unnecessary division. It changes the way you think about other people and gives you very preconconcieved notions about them based on first impressions. I like to systemize things so I can better understand, but I agree that personality by nature is such a subjective thing that it is hard to think rationally and objectively about it. I would love to hear more about your thoughts on this; thanks for the honest review. Also, keep those skits coming; my whole family loves them :)

I am not sure if anyone has expressed it, but I think there is a huge problem with 16personalities test, in which it generalizes or doesn't delineate well the cognitive functions. We can assert that in 16personalities failure at distinguishing introverted feeling (Fi) from extroverted feeling (Fe). 16personalities mostly uses Fe as a parameter to determine if you are a feeler, and the problem with that is many feelers being typed as thinkers because they don't identify themselves with the stereotype of a typical extroverted feeler. It also has some vague understandings on what it is being an intuitive type, with hyper-personal questions such as "do you like philosophy?", "question how technological advancement will affect future life?", etc, as if such characteristics were unique to intuitive types, and again, it fails to delineate the line between extroverted and introverted functions, and seems to use Ni as a parameter. Take it at your own risk, but from my perspective 16personalities is not a safe measure for your personality, as it presents an extremely vague evaluation of the cognitive types. Personally speaking, I recommend you to take the test on www.keys2cognition.com/explore.htm instead, it certainly elaborates better the questions to fit each cognitive function.

In my humble opinion, I think you are likely an INTJ. I really don't think you're an INFJ. But I do think you're a J and not a P (I'm 200% an INFJ). Also I would suggest taking a lot of tests from multiple websites and try to think what would be your first instinct in each scenario. I think if you've improved certain weaknesses, learnt skills and developed, you'll be an -A instead of -T. I found it very helpful to think what I would be inclined to do as my first instinct - what comes naturally to me , rather than having to make an effort. Hope this helps! Good luck

The dogs claw, aka his paw 😁 when I was 17 I tested ESTJ. Retested MANY times over the years and always get INFP. You’re right, it’s hard to subjectively answer. I’ve heard we can slide to manifest as other types depending on our ego state. The double barreled questions that are used make it hard to accurately assess too.
@gemstones2942
@gemstones2942 5 лет назад
People need to pay more attention to the cognitive functions. You’re 77% intuitive, but for the other traits, you’re 53%. This means that a few slightly different answers, you could also fit into : ENFP, ENTP, ENTJ, ENFJ, INFJ, INTJ, INTP. The personality types, really, are different stopping points on all four scales of the personality traits. That fact you’re so neutral in most your traits means you aren’t really any type, you can fit into many. This is why differences show between two people of the same type. I’m an INFP, but my thinking/feeling ratio is quite close together. I’m a feeler but only by a little bit; I’m also a strong thinker, hence the reason I also find INTP to be scarily relatable. This is also the reason why I tend to be more brutal, composed and critical in debate compared to other INFPS I’ve met who are far more sensitive. The different types, as I see it, are tools to give people something to relate to, experiences to relate to to help them better themselves and become more self-aware. It makes things easier to navigate and understand but things become much more accurate and helpful once you look at what your levels in each individual trait mean. For a long while, I wasn’t finding the INFP profile helpful anymore, then I went to the INTP one and found exactly what I was looking for. In fact, in my experience, you always find little things you relate to in each and every type. It’s one giant scale wherein you might lean more strongly in one direction than another, but ultimately we’re all a little bit of everything. And someone with so many middle-of-the-road traits like you, is more than a little bit of everything haha.

A cognitive functions test would be more reliable. Try the one on socionics.com. In socionics the j/p is switched for introverts, so MBTI's INTP would be socionics INTj - they are the same except the name changed. Not every socionics type will correlate perfectly with the MBTI description, but then you'll have to see what subtype you are (like the T/A with MBTI, socionics has 2 subtypes, but are more descriptive about it). Socionics dives deeper into the theory of type and links it better with psychology, and was built up and backed up by more psychologists.

Hey dude, not sure if you figured out your type yet but when i took the 16p tests i tested infj and infp multiple times. It wasnt until learning about the functions that i realized that the test questions were garbage and they "bait" whatever lower function you have. What this means in my case was i was answering the questions in a way that i "wanted" to and not how i realistically would and unless your REALLY self aware most people do this. I am ISTP so my low Fe and Fi kept coming out in the questions because subconsciously i wanted to use these functions but in reality they are not my priority.

@АнатолийАнатолий-п1д
There are many arguments against trusting the test, but you need only one: the test _assumes_ every user has relatively the same type of perception, because it expects you to get _intuitively_ what a question is about. For _thinking_ types such tests are pain in the ass, because they can ask you, for example, the question about your kid being kind vs smart and you would answer from your _beliefs_ , not from what you _value_ emotionally, as you've well spoted. And I noticed that half of the questions (if not more) of this test have the same problem. It's simple logic. In order to take a test _right_ , the one who answers needs to know what the questions are asking about exactly, and, what's more important, look at _functions_, exclude certain types to _differentiate_ your type. Experience and beliefs can turn a person of one type of _perception_ into a person _very similar_ to a completely different type, you can't rely on experience- and beliefs-driven questions at all, you need to determine how a mind of a person _works as a mechanism_ , what tricks it _can_ or _cannot_ do, not what it is _used_ to do. Pure sudoku with mind instead of numbers, nothing more. So, do not _ever_ consider any of such tests as worthy a shot. It's pointless from the beginning, it just _doesn't work_ . You need a living person with introverted thinking (to look at the _mechanism_ itself) and ability to empathetically understand your answers to determine your type. Or you can read about it yourself and get how to _differentiate_ every type from another _for sure_ and then self-type, if you are good at sudoku.

I think you are right about getting an intuitive who knows Jungian depth psychology to type for you. *_CS Joseph_* would be my personal recommendation. He has a RU-vid channel dedicated to Jungian depth psychology and does a fantastic job of describing the system in high detail but also so it's pretty easy to understand. He also does "How to type" live streams where people can make requests. If you go to his playlist called "How to type" you should have all the info you need. I really enjoy your videos. Keep up the great work!

I thought you came across as an intj..very interesting that you know the 16 personalities so well to riff on them, and I'm curious to know more about why you haven't identified with or committed to a type. It may be an interesting play of cognitive functions, such as EF perhaps? Lastly, its cool how we all come to the mbti. I assumed most people came to identify with a type and get to know it well, before branching off into learning others. Obviously others don't all work that way! Thanks for the funny videos.

Hey! So my first impression of you based on your videos was ISTP. Just an impression, lol. But upon watching this video, u definitely remind me of my brother. He's an INFJ, and I notice, the fact that u initially accepted your friends' typing of you, instead of initially rebelling against it, that means you have a dominant perceiving function, and you are introverted, so Ni or Si. Also, I notice you took some time to think things through internally, rather than judging based on your personal feelings. I'm leaning more towards INFJ. And most of the comments see it too. Your friend thought u were INTP cuz you're a deep thinker, like many INFJs. I thought my brother was an ISTP, and I'm very knowledgeable about the MBTI, so we never really know, do we? I suggest watching recent DaveSuperPowers videos to figure it out. Bless 🙏

You're right, the personality tests are not reliable. Well, now you have a thousand opinions about your personality type. Even though I don't know you in real life, here is mine: I have to say that you've always reminded me VERY much of my brother who is an ISTP. He would have answered all these questions the same way you did, and he always gets INTP on the personality tests. I don't think you are an INFP...I can't see you leading your life with emotional decisions, but I can see you leading with logical ones. Also, in these video you've made several statements about your aspirations concerning how others feel. That is evidence of Fe inferior. You are pushing yourself to improve that function and are getting very good at it. The things that ISTP, INTP, and INFJ have in common are Ti and Fe...I think your Ti is very high, so I would rule out INFJ. I think your self awareness comes from Ni, and I believe your success with these videos and the way you present yourself suggests Se. So INTP is ruled out and you have ISTP.

Lol thanks for saying that it’s more reliable to be typed by someone who knows about typology rather than the test. A lot of people put too much faith in the tests when A LOT of the time it’s wrong. I’ve noticed in my church circle, many sensing types are mistyped as intuitive by the test, and many “thinkers” are mistyped as feelers.
@Julia-ey4zd
@Julia-ey4zd 5 лет назад
Yeah, I noticed that it's more common to get an intuitive result than a sensor. This test is the worst out there. Istj got infj result then cognitively--its the reverse of his shadow functions so totally opposite. That's because by agreeing with the statement "I like reading books, films and ideas" you are an intuitive. Almost everyone can relate to this statement.

@nicca hm Well, the way you answer questions could be the reason, because of how you perceive yourself. The tests are just helpers really, you shouldn't take it as gospel, BUT I think they can be helpful in sending you in the right direction. There are tumblr blogs, one being Funkymbtiinfiction - they have some links that can send you places to read about the cognitive functions. Things like "Signs you are Fe/Fi/Ni/Ne/Se" ect. dominant." Read them, have a think. If you really believe you are introverted(make sure you aren't just shy, have social anxiety/depression ect). Not saying you do, but sometimes people feel introverted for certain reasons, when they are not. If you read about Fe, and you really think that sounds like a function you are using a lot of - say your auxiliary function - look into ISFJ/INFJ(people really commonly mistype themselves as INTJ and INFJ though so be careful there). Ni doms are, I think, the rarest type - so it is important not to simply want to feel superior by being one of the "special" types. I think younger people are prone to this. I've been reading about MBTI for about a decade. I was always quite sure I was INFP, but it took awhile for me to be really sure. Especially as I had people telling me not to assume myself an intuitive(I noticed on certain websites there was a sort of Intuition police. Not wanting too many people to identify as intuitive because it made them feel less special or something. As though intuitives are smarter and better than sensors. Not true. Just an example but my ESTJ highschool friend got me through math and physics lol. She was awesome. Not exactly true to stereotype either. She was hardly some super efficient emotionless robot who "thought your feelings were a waste of time and irrational so SHUT UP!". She was efficient, organized, practical and all those things she just wasn't some asshole who went out of her way to make you feel like an incompetent loser lol. I also had people telling me you can't be an introvert if you receive ANY energy or stimulation from outside your own brain. What? That doesn't make sense. Everyone needs outside influences to take on board)as an INFP my auxiliary function is Extraverted Intuition. EXTRAVERTED. Of course I need external stimuli. It's how you think, feel, reflect and act on the information and stimuli you receive. I realized though if I can spend weeks and weeks alone and be perfectly happy and contented, I'm no extrovert. It's not because I hate people, or am depressed. I just like spending time with myself. Another thing is look at your childhood when you read about the functions. Children tend to mainly use their dominant function. If you can figure out what you were using back then, it should help. It helped me realize Fi made perfect sense. I remember reading Jane Eyre and thinking how much I related to child Jane(except much happier thankfully). Anne of Green Gables, except I was socialized better than she was(I didn't grow up in a neglectful Edwardian orphanage obviously) and Harry Potter, also an Fi dom(though ISFP). If you can think of characters you have related to, that can help. Later on you can look into Enneagram, if you want. I am unsure of it being 100% accurate, but I believe there's something in it,. That can help clarify things even more. I won't go into it because I don't want to confuse you further.
