Love that idea of removing barriers to painting! You have to get to the point where there's no more excuses and the only thing that's left to do is go paint!

That's right! Too easy to make excuses

Love the idea of keeping a plein air specific kit!

Excellent video as usual. Loved the tip on using baby oil for hand cleaning. I have been using safflower cooking oil(for soaking my brushes over night) and hand cleaning, but will give baby oil a try. Smells better I guess

Hey Cody! Thanks for all your ideas! I was wondering...what do you do with the makeup sponges? Just remove paint? - definitely much better than cloth rags which drag everywhere. If that's not it then...

Good question! I use the makeup sponges to oil-in the paint once it dries. Honestly I don't use them much while plein air painting, mostly after the fact to touch things up in the studio. They work great for re-hydrating the paint film.

What a wonderful guide! Now I'm inspired to go out and do this! So...I can't find the link on the Pochade palette by Michael Klein -

@@fountatelier Thanks! I appreciate that! I did order the little pouch using YOUR link but don't really have the wherewithal to cut my brush handles - LOL! I love the idea of just painting on little pieces of primed canvas cut to size

Thank you! Yes painting on cut pieces of canvas is so much more affordable in the long run and easy to mount if you make a “keeper”

Hey! What about brush cleaning? Think you didn't cover that, sorry if I missed.

Good catch! Not sure if I mentioned it explicitly. Since I use water mixable oils when I am out plein air painting I just use water as my solvent. I have a small solvent cup that you'll see in my plein air kit; I put a little bit of water in it and that works for rinsing brushes. Using water mixable oils eliminates the need to bring a bottle of solvent with me when I head outdoors. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions!
