I really hope someone would just take one of these 718s across the country on a long grand tour. It definitely deserves to be driven through iconic locations, mountain passes, great plains, and other locations. It would be incredibly gratifying to see someone put 30k miles/50k km in a single year and document the journey. I think that would be a great way to pay homage to the racing heritage this car has.
Picked one up a few days ago. Really enjoying it and agree with Marcella's comments . I had a 993 and a 993 Turbo and several BMW M3s coupes and convertibles. Just sold my Ferrari F430. Never mind the flat 4 vs. 6 and Carrera vs Boxster arguments. This 718 Boxster S checks all the boxes for me.
@@joshwalton1120 Not as fast for the F430 but fast enough for my daily driving. The two cars are completely different animals. Maybe the Cayman GT4 or GT4S are more comparable to the F430.

Love the car, save for the motor sadly. Chris Harris from Top Gear pointed out that a reason behind the switch to the 4 cylinder engine is CO2. But then you have to drive it in a certain way to really keep low CO2 levels. Otherwise I like the car a lot. Great review Marcella!
Take it on track, and don't be gentle with it. I take mine to Brands Hatch or Silverstone, book an instructor and you'll have a lot of fun. After that driving on the roads will seem boring...On track, the car comes a live and you come a live, it's primordial, it wakens and sharpens all your senses...I'll warn you now it is addictive, driving towards the outside of turn corner wall coming at you at 120 mph+ a couple of hundred metres to go, engine screaming like tenor on opening night, hard on the brakes to bring you down to 70, turn towards the apex of the turn, tyres fighting for grip and squealing like pigs, you feeling the G Forces, all the time you're feeling so you can tell if the car going to spin, your eyes frantically searching for the apex, your mind is screaming 'where's the apex, where's the apex', you spot the apex you drive towards the inside of the circuit, just before you apex, you start looking for the exit point of the turn, your searching for the exit point, you apex, then back on the gas taking the turn of the steering wheel and threading in the gas, if there's a dip in the track you will feel the negative G-forces, it's visceral In all that hurricane you'll find two things, a singular focus and yourself, what you're made of - courage & strength. It takes something to drive towards the edge of a track at 120mph with a wall a couple of hundred metres further then close to the line hard on the brakes and turn...
Not a real Porsche idiots. You can’t get this level of fun in contemporary big and fat 911. This is the fun canyon road car to get your hair in the wind. So happy for all the owners of a Boxster.
